when it came on, ludwig would fly into the scene with a little propeller, to the tune of a little violin musical ditty (beethoven, i assume).

I think that fairytales can be useful, myself, as long as they're kept in perspective. Part of my spirituality comes from using myths and legends to understand humanity and the world a bit better, but I take them for what they are: MYTHS. Allegories. Interesting stories. Nothing more, nothing less, and certainly not an excuse to kill or hate people.

i guess one thing i dont understand is where an athiest or agnostic sets their limits.
i feel like if i didnt have a christian conscience that i may not be able to differentiate between what is right and wrong.

I've dealt with fundamantalism on *both* sides of the fence, both Xian fundies who want to keep me from going to Hell and somewhat overzealous Atheists who just can't undestand why a smart girl like me isn't one of *them*. So, I know what closed-mindedness looks like, and Flower isn't showing it. I could see that in the way she responded to me: "I don't agree with all you say, but I do respect you." No attempts to convert or persuade me. All she did was listen. An Xian fundy would NEVER grant that to a Wiccan.
It's typically a good idea to pick your battles carefully. Not all of them are really worth fighting, and sometimes, you'll end up starting something where no battle was declared.

I agree with you. To me, Flower sounds like someone who wants to learn, but is still a bit naive. I don't think she was rendering judgement; I figured she was trying to explain her perspective and get another view. You can't get answers if you don't ask questions.
I think most people raised in the US or in a Christian family have this view to some extent at some point in their lives: "Christian" equals "moral" and "good" and everything else is suspect. I had it myself when I was younger, but you might say I've changed my mind.
