One of my JW relatives was reported on by another JW for using the YMCA swimming pool. They had to stop going after pressure from the elders. This was 2 years ago.
This is still the JW stand and has been at least as far back as the 1970s.

...The WBT$ Theft of Kingdom Hall Bank Accounts and JW Elders...
by OUTLAW in.. the new wbt$ donation arrangement/ jw kingdom hall bank account theft... is a very hot topic right now... the wbt$ is literally going to clean out kingdom hall bank accounts, filled with donations from jws... that theft is going to happen world wide..the wbt$ is going to steal from 7 million plus jw`s... .. we have jw elders here on jwn, that know whats going on... they "serve" in kingdom halls, they are "supposed" to be looking after the welfare of the average jw... they know there is a 4 page letter, only one page will be read to the congregation..the rest will be kept secret... they know the wbt$ is about to steal jw donations..on a world wide scale!!!...
.. i would like to know what you active jw elders are going to do about this??!!...
are you going to let "your" congregation know about the other 3 secret pages?...

The active ones I've spoken to have indicated that they see it as a loving arrangement.
Of course they would. Does that absolve JW elders from doing the right thing taking a stand on this issue? As long as the wool remains pulled over the eyes of the flock.... its all good?
Most who fall victim to a con don't realize it until it's to late.
The WTBT$ is the Bernie Maddoff of religion.
Unfortuanatly many JW elders are just agents for the Watchtower. They are loyal to the GB not the flock they claim to protect.
It's really sad to see good trusting people getting ripped off by these criminals. It's even sadder that elders who are awake to TTATT stand by and say nothing.

This could also be related to the pedo problem. If the legal department wants to do a background check on every recommendation but don't want this type of news to reach down to the congregation level where they would be admitting that they have a pedo problem while trying to protect their liability it would make perfect sense to limit the number of people in the know about this type of proceedure change.
We have seen the letter sent to congregations. What about proceedure changes for the COs? Do we know about those?
By moving this to the CO level who would work directly with legal on background checks they could do a better job of minimizing liability while at the same time keeping the lid on the pedo problem at the congregation level.

Wild Things with Dommnic is great! His knowlege of the creatures he comes across and high risk makes for interesting viewing.
Game of Stones is interesting, I'm sure much of it is fake or set up but I don't want to google to find out because I like the show.
Bates Motel for drama.

I got an invite last year after 12 years of nothing. I was expecting the same elder to return this year. What is the date they will be doing it this year?

Will firing the DOs be the first step to a new Watchtower?
by Juan Viejo2 inagainst my better judgement, i've decided to share the following as a response to guy pierce passing and the announcement of the elimination of district overseers later this year.. late in january (2014) i got an email from one of my contacts (a fader) who served at bethel for several years, but is no longer at wt hq.
he still has a lot of close contacts within the service department and in other departments at patterson and knows people in all of the ny offices.
i kept this email set aside on a flash drive and haven't shared it with anyone - figuring i'd publish an article about it later this year when i had more time to do it right.

Like many corporations the WT is getting top heaving caring for the aging group of loyal JWs who have dedicated most of their entire life to the corporation. Many corporations are dumping traditional retirement programs in favor of 401k matching for the same reason. Where I live, the police force is under staffed but they can't hire more because of their financial obligations to retired cops.
Other religions provide retirement homes for the aging / retired clergy.
The Governing Body is really making Jehovah look like a douch bag compared to other religions when it comes to caring for those who sacraficed most of their living years doing their bidding.
Way to go governing douches.

Being an Atheist Is Bad For Your Health
by Space Madness ini stopped believing in god in july 2013. in the first 3 months or so i felt liberated and relieved that i can live my life anyway i wanted without worrying about an invisible being watching my every move.
i also felt slightly superior that i was able to figure out that god isn't real while the majority of mankind continued to be fooled.
atfer the feelings of excitment statrted to wear off, i started to become more depressed and empty.

Designs: In the cases of terminal illness- how does religious belife or lack of affect end of life choices. Anecdotally I hear Christians clinging to life at the end stage (Heaven can wait). As an atheist now I would opt for not prolonging the inevitable.
When I was a so called christain (JW) I would never considered suicide for fear I may not get to pet my lion in the new world order. Now that I am an athiest and accepted mortality, I would consider doing so purely for practical reasons as pointed out by designs if I had a terminal illiness.
I never understood why many christains want to go to heaven but they don't want to die to get there.
Space Madness, there are many causes of depression, just don't assume it's because you became an athiest. Depression is treatable, see a Dr. Hope things get better for you.
