  after discouraging and in many instances prohibiting jw's from getting an education, like in computer graphics, film-making and design, the wt is employing these kinds of professionals and throwing vast sums of money at their new film-making adventures doubtless from all the properties they confiscated, sold that the local members paid for.

  Nothing new to see here.

  But it's a good point. Does anyone believe that the WTS would encourage JWs to get into filmmaking or related fields, like 3D design and animation? How often did you ever hear of a JW being advised to get an education as a lawyer? The rank-and-file are strongly encouraged to eschew a secondary education in favor of a low-demand job so that they have plenty of time to recruit more people into the cult. Those who ignored this advice are in high demand in helping to provide low-cost labor to the organization.

  It's not an encouraging message: keep your life as plain and simple as you can, give the organization as much of your precious spare cash as you can manage, and if you happened to get an education in a lucrative field, give the WTS your time, labor, and expertise for pennies on the dollar until such time as they no longer have a use for you.

  I asked this same question when he first demanded that Kim provide this information. I think he is doing it for two reasons: one, he wants to dig into her background and see if he can find anything he can use against her. Two, if she refuses to provide it, he can make that the focus of his replies to her and direct the conversation away from his failings and his failures (which is exactly what he has been trying to do).

  As for his foray into climate activism, I agree that it looks like he wants to branch out, now that he has ruined his reputation and limited the already small amount of attention and support he could ever get from JWs and exJWs. The problem for him is that his baggage is not related to the JW organization. He cheated on his wife with prostitutes. He is a terrible person, even to people who are trying to work with him or who want to support him. He is a major drama queen who lives his life online and then gripes that people are minding his business. In other words, he will undermine and sabotage himself wherever he goes, and if he is aiming for a larger and more visible stage, his next self-inflicted wound will probably end his aspirations as a filmmaker.

  You can tell how it's going by the way he is pushing the whole "I don't need to provide evidence, YOU need to provide evidence" narrative. A reminder: he filed the suit. He is legally required to provide evidence, including to the people he is accusing of a crime or of defamation. If he cannot, then he doesn't have a case.

  I think it's pretty clear that he wants to drag it out because he must finally have realized that he set himself up for a very public (and very embarrassing) failure. I don't think he can face the ridicule to come if the criminal suit goes nowhere.

  i was brought up as a born-in(tm) here in the uk.

  it wasn't until i was 50 that the scales fell from my eyes, i woke up, got da'd from the cult and my wife was advised to leave me by the elders whom i had served with on the boe.

  one of which i know wanted to schtupf her.

  I think it's understandable. We trust our parents to take care of us when we are too young and inexperienced to make good choices. When we realize that they made a very bad choice for us, you can't help but feel resentment.

  If my mother had her way, I would still be working a dead-end job in a mailroom somewhere and serving as an elder in a congregation. I found my own opportunities and made a good living, and when I finally left the organization behind I was in a good place financially but also mentally and emotionally. That has taken some of the edge off of the bitterness I feel towards her for the way she treated me and for the low expectations she set for me. But it's hard not to feel it- even today, she lives a much better life because I succeeded in spite of her. But she does not appreciate it one bit.

  The WTS creates a poisonous mindset in people.

  Replacing God?

  we seem to be if a more secular society here in the west, these days.

  i'm speaking from the uk.. with the lack of belief in god/s, i'm wondering if all the seeming (note: i said seeming!

  ), deification of people like greta thunberg, george floyd and celebs amongst others, if people who have no real belief system, are filling the gap left by god with people?.

  I trust the consensus, which is that the planet is warming and that human activity is playing a part. I don't think that there is a consensus on many of the details that are used by activists to push for stricter legislation. I have noticed that the same nations that trusted science implicitly when it came to COVID have ignored "the science" outright when it comes to climate change.

  So I believe that it is happening and that human activity is part of the cause. I don't believe that we have X number of years to stall or reverse the trend in order to avoid an unstoppable feedback loop that will be catastrophic to mankind. When China and India (and however many more nations are currently paying it little heed) lead the way in CO2 mitigation, then I'll believe those latter claims.

  Yeah, that line made me laugh. He uses that line at the end of a massive rant that was in response to a post Kim made. Does anyone believe that he will ignore any future messages from Kim? He put up a 97-minute video when she made the original reddit post. He posted a long diatribe on Facebook. He made a bunch of comments on one of her videos. If Kim sneezes, he's ready with a 3,000-word rant.

  But hey, let's take him at his word that he's done giving Kim "the slightest attention." Now Kim can discuss Evans as much as she wants, and he won't respond... right?

  It's legible. When analyzing it, remember that he is willing to lie and misdirect in order to pursue his agenda. He focused his rant on the damage done to him by Kim's reddit post, and not on his own actions that led to it. This has been his approach from the start; it's not what he did that has caused his problems, it is Kim's fault for pulling back the curtain.

  This is why it is good to remind everyone that he admitted to cheating on his wife over a period of years with prostitutes. That he had almost wrecked his marriage years before by engaging in sexual chats online with "girls" (his description). That he decided to get his head together by "dating a sex worker in Thailand." That he now expresses concern over how his wife and daughters will have their lives changed by people discussing it, instead of by what he did.

  And that he lacks the self-awareness to realize just how bad that last paragraph makes him look.
