Vanderhoven7: unique ability to interpret scripture...when interpretation of prophecy has been 100% wrong for over 130 years.
You have to admit... that's quite unique.
i don’t understand how jehovah’s witnesses can rightly claim:.
that less than 150,000 faithful christians existed prior to the 20th century....when allegedly millions were martyred during the first 3 centuries of the common era alone.
unique ability to interpret scripture...when interpretation of prophecy has been 100% wrong for over 130 years.. .

i was a bethelite in london for many years then got reassigned to the field and then went on brd from the start of chelmsford right upto covid.. during my years at the branch i was sometimes asked to be on a team who went to homes donated to the branch when some older one died.. this happenes an awful lot, everything is left to the branch in the will.
the unbelieving family is furious they didn’t get left anything and sometimes they tried to get their elderly relatives possessions and there was a legal battle .
but in the end a team of us would go and empty the property and another team would clean it up and put it on the market to sell it for the worldwide work.. all the possessions were sorted into trash or possibly valuable .
Mikejw: If you look at pictures of them when they were younger elders they never wore them, but once you get to a certain level a bit like the degrees of masons you get certain rings.
If you hold the rings next to a fire, does an ancient inscription appear on them?

Toblerone5: On other News, the Patrons are up to 469 ?
Patreon most likely updates the number of people joining in real time (ie, on a daily basis) but updates the number of people who leave at the end of the specific support term. If your page is set up to accept monthly subs, then the number of people who leave probably isn't updated until the end of the month, which is when their subscription would expire.
So it's not unusual for the numbers to rise a few times over the course of a month, then get updated at the end to reflect the people who ended their support. If you follow the numbers every day or week, you might be frustrated to find them climbing until month's end. I think the better way to look at it is the long term pattern, which in his case shows a significant drop since the beginning of the year.
for a bit of back ground.
i’m a full blown pomo apostate.
nothing would please me more to see wt burn to the ground.
Have I sold myself out? I probably have. Or am i playing the game to win, with regards to caring for my dad.
Or you're a decent person in a difficult position and making the best of it, putting your consideration for your father above your own. My situation with my mother is similar. I think the only reason there have been no attempts to contact me is out of concern for what it would do to her if I was DF'ed. I'm fine with that, and if they decide to wait it out for her sake, it's something that I appreciate. Even knowing how she would act towards me if I was DF'ed. She's my mother, you know?
thursday while i was at work, a new elder stopped by the house (almost 3 years after fading) to encourage us to go back to meetings.
said everyone misses us.
if you did, why not stop by and say hi every now and then?
I'd rather spend my time treating them they way I wanted to be treated
That is why I wouldn't agree to a shepherding visit for myself. I would respect someone's decision to be left alone and to walk away on their terms. The JWs cannot, as they see their efforts as lifesaving attempts. But I am not required to humor them, especially when I know what they will do once they know I have no interest of returning. I can, however, leave them alone and I expect the same courtesy in return. If they cannot manage that, I feel no obligation towards them and would not feel guilty if I said no thank you, I do not wish to meet, you may take whatever action you deem necessary.
But I also respect each person's desire to handle such a stressful situation in a manner that suits them. Best of luck with the visit, I hope it goes as you wish for it to.
seriously, when will this guy come out of the jws, and out of the closet?.
.
.
They tend to be lenient with famous/wealthy people. Michael Jackson disassociated himself, if I am not mistaken. Chet Lemon was a major league baseball player who, as far as I know, remained a JW during a 16-year career. Serena and Venus Williams are still JWs, aren't they? I bet they're crushed to learn that door-to-door witnessing will resume in September.

You can never tell who will get in or why. Prince did it to fulfill his mother's dying wish. There's a guy whose life did not quite fit into JW culture.

He's a real ladies man, to hear him tell it.
i recently heard from a few pimos and saw on the exjw reddit that the above topic was discussed during a midweek meeting (clam).
the reddit member mentioned that there were complaints from the branch that too many dubs "were posting too many vacation and brunch pictures [on social media] when that time could have been spent in service!
if this is reality--and knowing this cultcorporation, i wouldn't be a bit surprised--they are really trying to stop the r&f/ members from enjoying normal human activities.
Guilt-tripping is a pretty common tactic for the WTS. The whole "could you be doing more" schtick is used for everything from getting people to donate more money to getting them to spend more time in field service. And the "some brothers have been discovered doing this" bit is also used when they don't have any real examples but they want to browbeat the membership.
They sound like one of those mid-level marketing scams, always pushing members to find more people to add to the pyramid scheme and learn better ways to squeeze more money out of them. It takes a while for many people to realize that they have spent their time funneling money to the top while getting nothing out of it for themselves.
where your mental image of a place does not match up with where you intellectually know it actually is?
1. great britain: i always picture it to the west of france.
if i'm reading about the norman invasion or d-day i always see it in my head as crossing the channel east-west / west-east.
And amazingly, Google has mapped a lot of the main roads that cut through all of that wilderness. It's impressive enough that those roads were built and are still maintained, but getting people to drive it all so it could be mapped in on-the-ground 3D is a whole other level.
