Anyone else heard this?
by BoogerMan inthe other day, i chatted to an elderly woman and her daughter who was about 45-50. total strangers.. we were discussing covid when the daughter said, "my neighbor studies with jw's, and the jw's told her 3 months before the virus started, that they had to stop going from door to door because something was coming.".
i've never heard anything like this before - have you?.

JWs are always predicting that something big is just around the corner. They have been waiting for the great tribulation and/or Armageddon for more than a century. It would not be unusual for a JW to tell an interested person that they are waiting on something big that is about to happen. They still cling to "something big" that they "predicted" in 1914. -

A 16 minute video to discuss something utterly inconsequential. Good use of those Patreon dollars!

Are You Concerned About Inflation?
by Simon ini saw a statistic the other day that something like 25% of all the debt that the us has incurred since 1776 was created in the last 12 months.
that's because they have printed so much currency and instead of letting that stop them, they are going to continue printing more to go on a spending spree on crazy green-new-deal schemes and union handouts.. does anyone think that this can be anything other than inflationary?
they are effectively stealing the wealth of everyone to then hand money out to people.

Inflation usually rises around 2-3% each year. Even if this current rise in prices starts to go down, it wouldn't go back to the original prices. It is more likely that the prices would go down to what they would have been if inflation had moved in typical fashion, plus a percent or so because they didn't actually rise in a typical fashion.
Gas could be the possible exception, if we ever push for energy independence again. But that would require more than just giving oil companies the green light. The world is in for a period of suffering as we realize that we pushed too hard and too quickly for changes that will now require a step back or two, but you cannot simply flip a switch and have a coal plant back online or a nuclear plant designed and built.

My Prediction Regarding New Space Telescope That Will See Back to 100 Million Years From the Big Bang
by Sea Breeze ina new space telescope launched a few days age that will supposedly be able to see to within 100 million years of the big bang.
wow... only 100 million years from the big bang.
that is pretty early given the 12 billion year age of the universe assigned by scholars who adhere to naturalism.

The Sci-Fi fan in me can't help but imagine how awesome it would be if one of the images captured was of a large hand gently nudging a galaxy into place.
The images captured so far are quite incredible all on their own, though. It's wild to think that most of them are showing an area that is an infinitesimally small part of the whole.

I bet that when they needed money, they told him that God was responsible for his success and it was his duty to 'honor Jehovah with his valuable things' or some similar nonsense.

Food prices could be in for some steep increases due to the war in Ukraine, since a lot of the world's wheat and fertilizer are grown there and are being affected. Like fuel, those items affect a wide swath of industry. So, the pain can get a lot worse and for a longer time.
I bought my house at the end of 2013, when prices were still very low and interest rates were only beginning to nudge upwards. I was planning to sell in 2019/2020, but took the house off the market when a friend and his family needed a place after their lease ended and the owner of the house they were renting was not going to renew. Now, with inflation as it is, the house is a good investment so I moved back and we have two full incomes (and two partial, from their son and another friend's son). I moved back because they were having some trouble with expenses. We are still feeling the pinch, but we can weather it for a while longer.
The concern is more for the long term. We might be on the verge of a depression if the USA can't manage inflation before it goes out of control. I don't want to think about how things will go if that happens.

Toblerone5: He had a what? Mister I watch porn ,and masturbate in the bethel shower ,while he was at ministerial school ,had a requirements list?
Remember, we're talking about a supremely self-centered person with delusions of grandeur, who readily excuses his own defects and hang-ups while sharply criticizing others for even the smallest offense.
I agree with Vienne that he isn't controlled opposition. If Evans has a huge ego, that of the individual members of the GB are much, much larger by far. If they controlled him, he would not have spent so much time humiliating them and talking them down. Also, his downfall would have come much earlier. The WTS isn't the best at planning long term...

LMsA: FYI - Evans is not disfellowshipped - he is disassociated.
That's interesting. He has committed the worst crime that the GB can imagine. It's the crime they accuse people of when they want to remove them quickly and for good. And they're okay with Evans just disassociating himself? There has to be an ulterior motive for them not to DF him as an apostate. Maybe he really does have the goods on them...

The problem for him is that he will be crowing about his "legal victories" while his detractors pay no penalty, instead continuing to make fun of him and talking about his embarrassing past (and his embarrassing present, since he is so lacking in self-awareness). Does he think that anyone will be content with his 'vindication' under those circumstances?
