  this idea is called vitalism and is no longer popular.

  what does remain popular (in fact is still the dominant view) is a similar idea that things that experience the world (humans, frogs, mice) are different from things that don't experience the world (potatoes, rocks, snowflakes).

  re examine these 2 assertions please.

  lumping plants and rock into one sentence blurs the lines too much. I can imagine that the breaking forth, of flowers, leaves in spring is triggered by euphoria-like inducing chemicals, but is the plant aware? Many processes work in our bodies, that we are not aware of. or?

  and what scenarios this could lead into ?

  would my baptism still be valid ?

  the following article will address these questions, and attempt to answer them.. after helping jwfacts with his page on animal suffering, i decided to write this article.. it is mainly aimed at helping jehovahs witnesses and other believers in god to think about the issue, as well as the apparent contradictions in watchtower teaching.. thanks must go to jwfacts for the encouragement, and giving me permission to use an image from his page and to use some of the quotes.. also, thankyou to cofty for general moral support.. please let me know what you think everybody, and feel free to reproduce any part or all of the article on any other website, just post and let me know that you've used it on your site please..   I believe that animals suffer less than we think, I have been in several life and death situations, and can not recall any suffering that I endured. shock and hormones covered that. . Of course injury without a quick death is different. pain can be excruciating. But would you trade life with some pain for non-existence? or for the sake of a permanent morphine dose fog?

  true, so, think about this: the same sex act between a 17 year old girl and her 18 year old boyfriend is fine (outside the jw domaine) but the same situation would send a 10 year older male to prison and could have him end up dangling in his cell. Marriage of a 12 year old female was legal in some North American jurisdiction, but touching her the wrong way by her female teacher could end the offender's life the same way.

  Why did you not ask for advice here? or send it from an unknown source? Elders are local protectors, and will react badly if they are seen to be allowing dissent in the ranks of their flock. He has to assume that you have been blabbering to others.

  my wife and i visited a local flea market this morning and found this herd that spreads bⱷꙇꙇ ꙅꚕꙶiꚍ... it's actually a broadcaster that spreads cow manure (or seeds i suppose)... much like herd on jw broadcasting sure feeds us a load of crap... .

  Theists, why does God allow suffering..

  ..specifically, the suffering of animals.

  you can talk about free will/sin/people choosing to not listen to god etc to explain human suffering being allowed.. but how can you love a god that allows animals, that haven't sinned or chosen to not have anything to do with god, to have their short lives ended in often long, drawn out, painful ways.

  i could list stories i've read that would probably make you feel ill, but i'm not looking to shock anyone or start an emotional debate.

  why? perhaps he never foresaw that the automatic evolution process would progress to the point where suffering would last so long to cause pain to be remembered and be recognized by intelligent beings.?
