  jehovah's witnesses have had to revise their chronology and various doctrinal interpretations due to events and scholarly corrections.

  but the one teaching where they have been consistently ahead of the curve is the importance of jehovah's name.. .

  i'm going to run through a (necessarily selective) timeline of jw events and scholarly publications that demonstrate the phenomenal success of this teaching in the last days.

  Albert Einstein used it to describe an ugly situation, when it become apparent in 1915, that "god" would not use his good offices to stop the useless slaughter on the front.

  Why did Jesus not use God’s name Jehovah?

  no one doubts jesus extensively spoke about god’s kingdom because he said: “i must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of god to the other towns also, because that is why i was sent.” (luke 4:43) yet christian sects are divided over the subject whether jesus used god’s name or not.. it is said that god’s name jehovah was revealed to moses.

  however jesus knew moses was not trustworthy.

  (mathew 19:8) moses born and brought up in egypt could have been influenced by egyptian knowledge.

  Jesus, or what his biographers decades later wrote about him, was ignorant of creation reality. He too, was probably searching for the one that made it all. In deference to the great place he (and we) live, the enormity of the task of creation, ( he struggled to work with hard wood and primitive hand tools), He probably choose not to demean that possible person (like his possible father) by calling him names.

  jp: I have "hammered" away on this particular issue with more effort and effect than you'll ever know!.

  Great!...can you share some? with this thread I tried to roll back time, show that in 1939*** Franz was 36 years away from 1975, 53 years away from his death, as a under lapper, a latter day Franz II would take us into 2070 to 2075 again. so:

  "If I had a hammer Id hammer in the morning--evening." next blow please.

  If witnesses would be confronted with this issue in the H2H, "work" ...They would dread "not giving up" even more.

  *** 1939 corresponds to 2017 in the overlapping franzes

  SBF, jp1692, The generation question is the one uniquely problematic for the WTBTS. and for that reason it deserves to be hammered.

  I have done more than 86 laps around the sun, passed the baton to the next generation and the next. overlapping twice already. so, sorry, it is not the last time you will see generation threads generated. , if it annoying, hopefully more so for wt writers, lurkers.

  If your goal was to come up with a topic more convoluted and undecipherable than "overlapping generations", then congratulations, you have succeeded.

  sir82, There are some that are interested to what the formula that wt published really works out to.II is called the applied science method. . If you cant call the numbers you do not understand it. JWs would be appalled to learn that David Splane, by using the "F" *word, moved 2075 into the realm of possibilities. * F for Franz.

  More convoluted for some is the fact, and explanation, that the anointed generation formula contradicts Jesus definition, timeline of that group or the groups of people.

  yes folks.

  over the past few days i can honestly say the convention was relatively quite good.

  most of the talks, videos, symposiums were in line with scripture if you have faith in the bible.

  So they're saying "the overlapping generation of the first generation will not pass away until all these things occur" try explaining that out in the ministry

  nowwhat? it is worse: the last anointed generation will pass away until, or before all these things occur. it is an indefensible contradiction of Jesus.

  Jws are not aware of that, do not understand it, can not defend it, do not need to, because nobody cares.

  Faithful and discreet “slave” is very apt name!

  i found it difficult to digest the word (“slave”) jesus supposedly used to refer to his appointees on earth to dispense spiritual food on earth.

  (mathew 24:45) why not a better word, something positive in view of the fact that jesus came to free us?

  freedom is the absence of physical and mental boundaries or restrictions.
