100-million man hours
by Coded Logic inthe james webb telescope is set to launch in october of 2018 and will allow us to study the formation of first generation stars, the molecular clouds that became the first galaxies, and directly image exoplanets.
roughly one hundred times more powerful than the hubble space telescope the jwst is going to push back the current boundaries of science.. this is what 100-million man hours can accomplish.. .

and also coming is the earth based 30 meter mirror telescope, ( 20 times the size of Webb ), and,--now working in the longer range, the Chinese bowl and the Alma radio telescopes.
All instruments to fill the gaps in our knowledge, and formulate better questions.

Bungi Bill, frankly, at the time I was full in, and the only thing I remember now was some financial details I found unbelievable. The book was a gift to me, I had shown no interest in the subject, only gave it passing attention, and I did not find the doctrinal arguments that would start to sway me later, the 'Superior Authority' reversal. Sorry but I now have only a blank.

Crossing the Elders
by Cold Steel infew things draw my interest as much as people on this board who talk about the elders, the insidious little toadies who lurk around kingdom halls, the proverbial big fish in little ponds.
it amazes me the terror and the veneration they inspire, as well as the occasional ridicule.
it makes me wonder how they're selected and whether most of them come into the position with a sense of power, entitlement, authority and control, or whether many of them are pretty nice people and that i'm just hearing about the bad apples?

If I'm not mistaken, if you're anointed, you're born that way. CS:
Some religions might teach that, Catholics have to be baptized (like Jesus) to receive the anointing, Cornelius even was spirit anointed before baptism, but one way or another, you have to be faithful to a "t" , failure will make you lose it all. at least if you cross the elders, (brazen conduct in wt parlance!) or?

Why should these people be subject to the earthly elders when they are destined to so much more? CS:
The idea was, that if you lived by wt rules to a t, you cemented your right to be in heaven. i.e. : A lady anointed being submissive to a husband, even though limited as he is, would be a good, proven candidate to excel in heaven. so: an anointed is mandated to live up to wt expectations for the role they are fixed in now, and "Jesus" is watching.

I second that, adding that in congregations where a domineering personality happens to be appointed, it can be a sick congregation.
Elders do not wear badges, proclaiming their status, as is tradition among the youthful LDS (Mormon) workers.

Ritualistic behaviour within the JW faith
by stuckinarut2 ini was thinking about how the society criticises other faiths such as catholics because of their ritualistic procedures.. but couldn't it be said that witnesses have their own deeply ritualistic behaviours?.
think about the prayers said at meetings.
they all have to follow the same basic style and theme, and include the same basic content.. what about the ritualistic procedures of the memorial, and the passing of emblems - even to the servers and speaker (although they actually handle them more than everyone, they do their own special act of passing them to each other).

according to Jesus, the highest position in his religion (ruled invisibly since 1914) is "publisher" because the highest must be your slave. your slave. jws : you are slave owners, teh ms, the Elders, the Co, branch coordinator, GB member, remember.
