  what is the meaning of life?

  we all die, so what is the meaning.

  religion tries to bridge the gap with absolutist answers to this problem of existence by giving immortality to it's members in good standing(so join us or parish).helps to pay the bills using fear of annihilation to keep members as a source of material $$uport.

  One must find the intrinsic value in the present. That's what we're taught in Judaism. DJ:

  That deep feeling must stay with jewish people even if they become witnesses. I remember now, ~ 30 years ago, while living in Florida, visiting a congregation in a wealthy neighbourhood, Jewish sounding names, very handsome, dignified people too. and an astounding ambiance I never felt before, of the value of the present. I thought: " this is how it must feel like to be at the end of the millennium, when you have arrived, when the present is perfect.

  1925 versus 1975

  in the early 1970's i was an elder who was convinced by the other elders in the congregation that armageddon was coming by the end of 1975. at that time, as an elder, i knew that in the early 1920's the witnesses thought that in 1925 christendom would be destroyed and the faithful men of old, abraham, isaac, noah, etc., would be resurrected to earth.

  i knew those were failed prophecies yet it did not bother me.

  as i ponder why it didn't shake my faith, i must have given the borg a pass since it was so long ago or maybe because the light is getting brighter.. i am afraid that the same thing is going to happen with the 1975 video at the assemblies.

  I think there was a far greater exodus %wise in the 1925 aftermath ( hindsight math calculation) than in 1975, fewer were left inside to actually remember, and those were of the kind not to think, and enjoy the ride for whatever reason (feelings) . !925 predictions were also much more detailed and deluded, and false. 1975 had a calculation to base it on, but 1925?

  Anonvet: thank you. The 1975 calculation was perhaps a subconscious attempt to get away from the 1914 generation crisis starting to loom, with already 2 or 3 natural generation having arrived since WWI? ....Thought about another angle.:

  Jesus roamed the Earth for ~ 47 days as a spirit confined to Earth (on the way up), Satan for already 103 years, ( on the way down) a day for a prophetic year? something does not seem right! ha ha.

  What's worse, 2 week old getting nearly 100 rat bites and living, or Jesus' torture and death?

  some 35 miles from here, in the small town of magnolia, ar, a teen couple is in trouble -- as they should be -- for allowing their 2 week old girl, a 5 pound baby, to suffer nearly 100 bites from rats.

  one of the bites was so large and deep it required plastic surgery.

  i don't want to even think about the horror this teeny creature felt during those instances -- and the horrible nightmares she may suffer in years to come.. i wonder if this is one of those human experiences that may be worse than what christ suffered on that stake.

  torture and death? , how about the just sentenced native german lady that killed her lover who was expecting an orgasm , but was instead feeling being cut with an electric circular (skil) saw? At least "jesus" expected the pain and then the euphoria of an immortal spiritual resurrection, instead of a fatal, cut short erection.

  In 1969-1975, the players had already been through 2 significant flip-flops in wt doctrines/ procedure, the "Superior / supreme Authorities" and the rotating or not elder position. So: the non-event in 1975, left kind of a vacuum, but no panic or even discussion, just an accepting of another passing wt phase. Even those hurt financially remained mum. But the utter failure of the Society as a teaching, research authority had become evident. is wt trying to destroy that evidence?

  David Jay, I would have liked now, to query the Jewish witnesses that were converts as to why their new wt worldview on the meaning of life and suffering contrasted with what they left behind.

  The suffering of "jesus" is not of such epic proportions compared to endured by others, even in natural death of that period. Only the "virgin birth " makes it outstanding.

  the organization had its highest growth percentage wise in its entire history.. Fs:

  Yeah, it is a heady feeling to be contributing to an event of cosmic proportions, reverberating into the far reaching of the universe, 25 billion light years away. Could it be that Franz wrote this stuff to force "god's" hand into somehow live up to bible stuff? By involving a million plus others, voluntarily, making the case more urgent?   Geoffrey Jackson's Golden Apple watch INVESTIGATED

  i went through the original footage to get a good look at the watch.. from these pictures we can probably say that it is a apple watch and that it has a golden color.

  the color on the pin is black, and the band is white, grey, silvery or beige.. .

  the pin is in the exact place for it to be a apple watch.. only apple watch edition have the gold color.

  Be careful about which card you try and remove!

  the belief system of witness has often been well described as a "house of cards"....seemingly stable, yet fragile at the same time.. as we try to awaken our loved ones, we may share certain topics and issues...trying to remove a card or two from the tower of cards.. sometimes in our eagerness, we try and remove some key hot topic...or a card or two at the base of the tower.. that can be very destructive and cause loved ones to act defensive or protective of their beliefs (the society).

  they may dig in their heels.. rather, success comes from carefully and casually removing smaller cards from the top of the tower....then allowing them to even remove them for themselves!.

  as keen as we are to just bulldoze them down, take it slowly and carefully.. show dignity, poise and grace....and patience....

  The stability of your marriage might in part be due to your "believing" mate being in "fear of the Lord," or the prying eyes of the elders. do not remove that strong incentive to remain faithful to your marriage. and

  In the 1940s, we played a stick came called "Mikado" the object was to remove these skewer type thins from a random pile, one at a time, without moving any other. would be nice if any jws would be exposed to that kind of removing their delusions one by one until the bare real life is left.

  very well said David, I knew a few JWs of jewish background. why would they embrace WT doctrine with such a valuable, positive outlook, were they , and you back then not clearly aware of these positive, pragmatic (almost deist) jewish values?
