It definitely looks as if light was made specifically to be picked up by our retina. The way it travels as waves and collapses into particles upon observation is particularly astounding.
SB: It has nothing special to do with our retina, there were waves long before retinas. Waves have a way to turn from a gentle rotation, like light, or ocean waves, into particles that hit you hard when they collapse, are absorbed. Wade into the big surf on the beach, and get smacked.
light does not change speed upon reflection, coming or going from a mirror.
there was an ancient belief, that our vision was kind of a radar, we initiated sight by emitting some magical "light" (the biblical beaming eyes, ha ha) and saw only the return message. hope you do not believe a modern version of that error.
not that eyes do not reflect photons, (deers in the high beam) they have a double whammy upon , reflecting, leaving. this doubles the acuity of seeing.

for the rotating light wave, as seen during its traject, it's travel, arrival is indeed instantaneous. it arrives at the same time it departed, it did not age.
light is forever young. For A. Einstein thinking of surfing the wave of light, the clock on the church tower never turned or advanced. Eerily like James 1 has it: "there is no variation or turning of the shadow "( the sundial) for the eternal deity. but:

In 1676, the Danish astronomer Ole Roemer (1644–1710) became the first person to measure the speed of light. Roemer measured the speed of light by timing eclipses of Jupiter's moon Io.
granted, jupiter is only 400 seconds compared to 4 years away, , the way light travels at c, but still the principles applies, after all, Jupiter and its moons shine in reflected star light the important star, our sun.

Wt writers' big mistake was to make the 1914 generation the "anointed". Had they stuck with the likeness of the first fulfilment, namely the general public, some of who survived the end [of jerusalem], watchtower could have coasted to 2032 , because there is always a certified 118 year old on the guiness book of records. 1914 + 118 = 2032.
wt anointed on the other hand, have to be ~20 year olds, like Fr. Franz was in 1914. Therefore, wt's "anointing" mistake lopped off 20 years of the generation, which is fine if you gun for a "ssooon" armageddon date. so:
it was the wt's anointing of the 1914 generation that required the overlap grouping. but
The real big, real mistake in the "anointing" is of course that in detail it is absolutely unscriptural.
The bible generation can only pass after all has occurred. The wt generation, the partakers, has to pass before everything serious occurs, to be in heaven to cause the havoc. aka GT.
no wonder they now work on a personal relationship with the deity, because their ever tacking, tacky doctrinal ship is shipwrecked

Yes, i specialize in new ideas, very profitably. Even a wt "anointed" might discover only retroactively that the event happened in her past. It is after all not the act of partaking (everybody should, as a potential anointed)
The apostles were only potential anointees when they partook!. Church members become anointed (christians) at baptism. anyway,
A truly devoted nearly adult of 20 to 21 years of age could have been legitimately considered her/ himself destined for heaven, and shared Fr. Franz's timeline. so,
2075, 2132 stand.

I see Waton posted a possible time line. He likes the perfection of 2075. I think this is too long. I thihk we have a significant change in the next 10 years.
I use Ken Cook as a modelThe wt 1914 generation is not only about the GB, as D. Splane stated, but about any of the anointed Class.
any 20 year old that had the anointing potential could have worked with Fr. Franz or the like (as I did) before his death, and still carry on today. She would be only 48 years old today. ( I am nearly twice that age). The potential super centenarian "overlapper" that D. Splane mentioned would be only ~ 100 by 2075,
If wt would revert back to the natural lifespan,generation 1914 + 118 would give them 2132, so
that are the current upper limits, The "soon," last days are" are wt diversions.
Rev 11:18 is the only realistic trigger for a quieter planet. the math is in the missile algorithms.

How far will the overlapping groups in the 1914 generation take you?
according to D. Splane in his official broadcast, charts and all, with the example of overlapping centenarians like his predecessor, Fr. Franz, until 2075.
do the math. 2 centenarians, overlapping by 20 years each, starting at a 1894 birth, 200-40=160 + 1914= 2074 +
1 year for a shortened Great Tribulation (so flesh could be saved), == 2075 a perfect wt centennial, now,
there are always the 118 year olds around, that will give wt to 2032, with an overlap another 30 years, into 2150.
wts problem is not the overlap, but the anointing, because they have to go to heaven before the great tribulation, but Jesus said : they would not pass away, until all has happened. so, feel sorry for the
hapless wt proclaimers, it is not going to happen.
