Hoping the best for you OldHippie. I am sure writing the letter was difficult in many ways. The emotions can stir a bit when faced with such a task.

i just wanted those kind-hearted, those gentle, those friendly ones of you to know that i wrote my letter of resignation as an elder yesterday, after having served in that capasity for 24 years.. those wishing to call me or any society "bastard", "sucker", "braindead" or anything, as they have before, i would ask please to refrain from that.
other comments would be welcome.. somehow, it is the armstrong quote about "one small step for man, one giant leap for humankind" (approximately) the other way around, "one giant leap for (a) man, one hardly noticeable step for humankind".. ok, that was that.
Hoping the best for you OldHippie. I am sure writing the letter was difficult in many ways. The emotions can stir a bit when faced with such a task.

a friend of mine has been sharing her doubts about the organization with me for the last year.
she read both of ray franz's books and found that they were interesting and dealt with many of the questions she had.
she then wrote to the society anonymously and explained why she could not in good conscience preach regarding 1914 ( she used my p.o.
Alf3831,
Interesting quote. I do not see the similarity in Ray's situation and one where someone (XJW) is promoting or pushing an ORTHODOX DOCTRINE for $$$$. Where is Ray Franz promoting doctrine for money?
I am sure Ray has given more from the little he has, compared to that of the small tokens the WT has given from their great wealth.

when i was a jw (born and raised), i was lead to believe that the clergy class of christendom was some elite class who ruled over the meek and mild sheep of the congregation; that they wore fancy robes to do their services in, and generally were every bad thing the wts told me they would be.. they lied.. i attended a christian convention just this last weekend.
it was a non-denominational one, meaning you didn't have to be of a certain faith to attend, neither were some of the speakers who participated.
however, the organisers were from the anglican (church of england) religion so the communion on sunday was conducted according to anglican tradition, but i'll get to that later.. one of the things that hit me first was that you were allowed to wear what you liked.
Hello Prisca,
It is good to hear you enjoyed yourself. I have attended many gatherings and churches since leaving the WT. It is a real learning and unlearning experience. I have even attended the Mormon church when they have had a special function. I have made many friends from different denominations including Mormons. Sometimes the Missionaries do not know how to take me.

Hello Hippikon,
It is good to be on friendlier terms.
Outlaw,
I am wondering if Ray has to pull the information, or asked Randy to pull it because Ray does not own the copyrights 100%. I am not sure how all this works exactly and who all is involved with the copyrights.
One thing I have done to get the word out about CofC and ISOCFreedom is donate the books to different libraries and churches in my area. You would be surprised how many times CofC has been checked out and ended up missing in my city. Myself and another XJW sister have donated several copies and have had to put an article in the ((SOUND OFF)) column in our local paper about certain books being stolen from the library. This has curtailed the theft of CofC.

OUTLAW,
Why do you think the decisions made by the GB when Ray Franz was still a GB member were decisions Ray agreed with?
I agree with IslandWoman, Ray does not owe anyone anything. The good he has done outside the organization exceeds anything he did while a member of the GB.

here's somthing that i've been trying to get feed back on.... well, here's what i believe...i thought it might be interesting to some of you... .
in my church (the church of jesus christ of latter day saints, nickname mormons), we believe that the creation was done by jehova (aka the pre-jesus christ).
we do not believe in the docrtine of trinity as most other religions do, namely that god the father, jesus christ and the holy ghost are 1 person, with just three different roles.
Hello Aaron2,
From what I understand the scripture to say as far as Genesis 1:26, God in Hebrew is Elohim, and when he said let (us) make man in our image, it is possible God was refering to his heavenly court or his angels. Read Gen 3:5 God knows in fact the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened and you will be like gods, knowing good and evil.
Verse 22: And the Lord God said, "The man has now become like one of (us) knowing good and evil.
This does not leave out the possibility that God himself was also refering to Jesus when he said (us).
I agree with Don in the fact that Elohim is always used in the singular when refering to the true God.
I always thought Elohim and Jehovah were one in the same name.
Isaiah 43:10 No god was formed before me, nor will be after me.
Yahweh or Jehovah is speaking here. This leaves no room for Elohim to be the Father of Jehovah but for Elohim to be Jehovah.
Sincerely, Scorpion
interesting report from the recent elder's school.
thought you all might find it interesting.

i have a large collection of books, some fairly rare.
what are you guys collecting out there?
anything bizzarre?.
I have collected old and rare coins for several years. I also have a large collection of Watchtower books and magazines dating back to Russell's era. I also have a collection of old and new miniature football helmets. Also, I have a collection of nautical stuff like shark jaws, old ship artifacts, etc.
i thought jw's weren't supposed to deal with anything christmasy.
so why is there a santa claus poppin up at the top of the site?
with snow & holly in addition?
That's Santa? I thought it was C.T.Russell.
hi, i am not a jehovahs witness.
i was curious why you do not celebrate christmas and birthdays.
i'm not judgmental, just curious.
