I decided to bttt this, because it is important we never forget.
What a horrible, frightening day that was, two years ago today.
Another "day that will live in infamy."

Even Dan Quayle never dropped a dog on its head.
Perhaps George W. Bush should consider becoming a Jehovah's Witness. His mentality well suits him for mind control. He'd make a great overseer - tell everyone what to do without any logic to his reasoning.
He reminds me of the proverbial bewildered parent who, after a child asks why the parent wants them to do something, barks "Because I told you so!"

here is an editorial from today's newspaper, the columbus dispatch: evil lifestyle getting country into trouble thursday, september 11, 2003. .
when i heard about the world trade center being struck by airplanes, i thought it was because our country had become like sodom and gomorrah, with all the crime, murders, drinking, gambling, cursing, nakedness, adultery and abortion.
i thought god had lifted his protection from us, and he was letting the ungodly take over.
God help us.VIOLET CARRINGER
If Violet's god "helps" us, our planet is doomed, for it will prove the existence of an irrational, insane creator.
the supreme court in brown vs. board of education of topeka unanimously declared that separate educational facilities are inherently unequal and, as such, violate the 14th amendment to the united states constitution, which guarantees all citizens "equal protection of the laws.
" a year later the court will order states to begin desegregation "with all deliberate speed.".
isn't segregating schools into hetero and homo in direct violation of this ruling?
Sadly, Adam, you are probably right.
Keep in mind, however, that such statements by the Supreme Court are based entirely upon their own inerpretation of the Constitution.
As long as this country is in the grasp of a president who panders to the religious right-wing, such interpretation will never change, and we will continue to see gay youth needlessly persecuted by their peers.
a presidential proclamation designates sept. 11 as a national day of prayer and remembrance and as patriot day.
tomorrow is the 2 year anniversary of that tragic day.
take a moment tomorrow to remember where you were when it happened, and appreciate those close to you.
I was in a courtroom in San Mateo, California serving on a jury when it happened. The judge refused to stop the trial, and said from the bench "You all will remember where you were today."
I keep my juror's certificate dated September 11, 2001 as a remembrance.

None of you who have posted thus far were gay teenagers trying to muddle through high school. I was.
Until such time as sexuality is taught in public curriculum from a non-biased, unbigoted standpoint, then the need for segregation continues to exist. I would like to see children of all sexual persuasions interacting with one another. In a perfect world, this will happen. Unfortunately, we do not live in that perfect world. These schools were established with the protection of students in mind, not segregation.
High school students can be excruciatingly cruel. They were to me. If I had the opportunity to go to a gay-based high school, I might not have dropped out.
have any of you on this forum, ever met up with anyone considered famous?
i've met a great deal of people over the years.
one of my most memorable: dennis leary, drinking a few pints with him as he sang "margaritaville" from the jukebox.
Oh, yeah, how could I forget???
About 4 years ago, I road in a shuttle bus from JFK Airport to Newark Airport with a very pleasant woman seated next to me. We struck up a conversation and discovered we had mutual friends. She had this "you do know who I am, don't you?" look on her face the whole time. It wasn't until we were in view of Newark Airport that I realized I was sitting next to Vanessa Williams!

I have met the following Star Trek personalities: Marina Sirtis, Patrick Stewart, James Doohan, Majel Barrett, and John DeLancie.
I've met or had "close encounters" with the following actors & actresses: Liza Minelli, Linda Evans, Chevy Chase, Alan Alda, Carol Burnett, Sally Struthers, and Bob Barker.
The only actor I would never want to meet again was Jerry Lewis. He was rude and disgusting.
My most memorable encounter with someone famous was a delightful afternoon spent back in the mid-1980s with an elderly, white-haired Jack Bailey. Don't remember him? He was the moderator of the most bizarre television game show ever, called Queen For A Day which aired in the 1960s. It was TV's first reality show. He was so thrilled that someone actually recognized him!
