Have any of you on this forum, ever met up with anyone considered famous?

I've met a great deal of people over the years.

One of my most memorable: Dennis Leary, drinking a few pints with him as he sang "Margaritaville" from the jukebox. He was great.

Members of the Barenaked Ladies have been in to where I work.

Stood beside Matthew Broderick, while my brother spoke to him. He was decent, and amicable.

**I forgot this one: Jim Carey (1995) - dressed a bit incongnito, but it dawned on me who he was. I was tending an environmental booth, and he came up....took me a moment, but then it dawned on me who he was...with his infamous grin and tone of voice. He was very polite and friendly.

Alec Baldwin came into where I worked once (at a garage) many years ago. He was decent. He was very incognito (except for his credit card).

I've seen many passing by, but didn't speak to them. Just sort of realized: 'geez, I know who that was'.

I've seen many Canadian celebrities (TV, radio, movie actors).

    How about you folks?

I had Coffee at the table next to Russel Crowe, said hi and chatted a bit. He has a very intense look.

I met Rufus Thomas once. Not one of the most famous singers but a fairly well known funk and soul singer. One of my high school teachers actually knew him and had him come to our school and give a little pep talk. Some of us stayed after his talk and met him. I was fortunate to get the encounter on video tape. We had another teacher who was always video taping school assemblies and I got a copy from him. I went to see him perform later after I graduated from high school, but I wasn't able to get close to him during that performance but definitely enjoyed the show.

Recently I met David "Fathead" Newman. Probably even less famous than Rufus Thomas, but he's well known in the jazz world as a great saxophonist. He was playing at a small jazz club here in DC and I he had CD's for sell there, so I bought one and had it autographed.

speaking of musicians...I got to meet one of my favorite composers-Aaron Copeland. What a shame I did not know his music that well at the time, but because of meeting him, I really took the time out to listen to his work. What a thrill for a 17 yr old (at the time)!

Working at the ABC in Sydney for 20 years, I've seen a few come and go. Now that I'm in Tassie, I've probably seen heaps, just I don't know who the hell they are.

Name dropping time eh? I work at an Indian Casino in the bar dept. so I've met my share of "celebrities". Most of them of the "remember when" sort. All kinds of 70's and 80's bands, Charlie Daniels, Edgar Winter, Chubby Checker, Steppenwolf, etc... My very favorite television personality I ever met at work was Mr. Belding from Saved by the Bell. He was really nice. His real name is Dennis. I've met all kinds of football players too, but I can never remember any of their names because I don't watch football! They get really ticked when I don't know who they are.

I once met Mike & Bernie Winters in a Portsmouth night club. We all went for a tindaloo at around 3am.

Then I had a long chat with someone that I was convinced I knew from the past, suddenly I realised it was Dennis Waterman, star of "Minder":

But the highlight of my star studded meet-ups has to be when I walked into The Waverley one night and found this fella sat at the bar:
