Not going to happen. We wasted all our resources on an orgy of consumerism and unnecessary military nonsense and now the funds are gone. Not to mention the diminishing physical resources available for future projects. If we can't even establish colonies in Antartica or under the ocean where we would still have acces to necessary resources, how are we going to do it on Mars? We can't even do it on the moon!

by confusedandalone inso i grew up in new jersey in a very urban part of the state.
i literally only saw white folks if they were in a police car or if i went to the assembly.
the funny thing is at the assembly there was still a level of segregation as well although it was self-imposed.

To be fair, my family was the only white family at our KH in Alexandria VA in mid 80's and we were treated like family. I would have to say it was the warmest cong. I have ever been in. I never realy thought about it, but sharing the same hall was another cong. made up of mostly white, financially well off folks. Also a great bunch. But the two groups did not mix. I was really naive and never gave it much thought.

Welcome. Take it slow-and-easy. I wouldn't say anything to the family yet. You need to get a grip on yourself first. Otherwise, when you first spill the beans it will all come out in a rush and they will think you are the spawn of Satan. There are lots of guys here in your same shoes (wife and children) and lots of good advice already dished out. Be prepared for more late nights. Don't gve up...

Hello New World: JW.org prepares for the Long Haul In the Old World
by steve2 inthe prominently displayed text in the home page on jw.org is (predictably) matthew 24:14. but you do not have to be too keen-eyed to see something pivotal missing from the shortened verse.
it omits perhaps the most important part of the verse (well, important for an end-times religion).. this is how it reads on jw.org: "this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth.".
this is how it reads in the bible (nwt): "this good news of the kingdgom will be preached in all the inhabited earth and then the end will come.".

It sure looks to me that they have brought in some outside help to put this together. Content is the SOS, but presentation is pretty slick. If this was just a bunch of bethelites who had taken some web design courses, we would be seeing something much less professional. I'm sure we have some web professionals who could chime in here. Heaven forbid that they would actually employ possibly university educated people to develop this (I'm not saying that you have to have a university level education to be creative or talented).

Hey hon, come take a look at this (how can she fault me for being at jw.org? I even printed out WT study in Polish for her last night). Why do you think they only include part of that verse? It sounds similar to me why they dropped all that stuff about the 1914 generation from the Awake masthead. What's going on?
Any predictions on the reply from her?

issues which had become an agenda item at the u.n. commission on human rights, which met in geneva.
however, as countries dropped conscription in favor of a professional military or developed alternatives to military service, the only c.o.s left were members of the watchtower society (jehovahs witnesses), whose theology seemed strange to howard, all the more so that in some watchtower publications, the returning jesus seems less nonviolent than the first time around!

@snare: Perhaps he thought aliens were attacking. He did not get the memo that everyone would know it was Yahweh. So many strange things about this. Back to the car - what happened to the interior? Maybe it was already being used as some kind of flop house? The guy in the black leather pants or the unemployed grad-student (glasses and ski-cap) may have been living there (maybe together).

I was thinking maybe they would just sell the property and sit on the funds, not send it back to mother. Perhaps, go thru the motions of buying some cheap property somewhere and then taking their sweet time about additional progress - not enough contributions, not enough volunteers (see it's your fault, not ours). In the meantime, to make good use of the funds entrusted to them, they would 'invest' it. I'm sure some of the brothers in the UK are well connected in financial circles (at least in their own minds).
Wouldn't it be funny if they got caught up in the next MF Global type scandal and lost everything? I have heard that "Karma's a bitch"...

I doubt that soon they will need to be shipping anything anywhere. Who wants the stuff? Not even Jw's apparently. It just stacks up in a closet until it gets tossed. The move to digital is just a bit too late, and exposes the older (analog) R&F to a whole other world, sometimes by accident. I suspect that they might just sell the existing property and then find some reason not to rebuild...
