next week's bible reading (Gen. 1-5) stumpers.for your "in" family conversations & sly comments.
by prologos inyou may add many, but here are two:.
1) vegetation made on day 3, animals formed day 5,6, but- then.
in gen 2, man seems to be the primary creation, and vegetation and then animals were formed from the dust and brought to him to name them.

@bats: thank for posting that! Typical JW logic. Start with your conclusion and work backwards. Everything must support our conclusion, because our conclusion is true. I need to make a wall-sized poster of that and put it up in my office. And then 'decorate' it a bit with a few cloud comments attached.

I'm actually offering to do the assigned bible reading with her this cylce - from the beginning. I wanted her to know that I am not a total spiritual degenerate and that I am interested in the bible (just not in the same way she is). I've been preparing lots of 'points for discussion'. Not sure if she will take the bait. I think she smells a trap.
But seriously, how can you not read the bible if you are a 'bible student' and claim to teach what the bible teaches? Shouldn't a good student be prepared for any type of 'honest' question in the field minsitry?

i finally had "the truth" talk with the hubby
by monis ini have been inactive for a couple of years.
he has too, but wants to go back.
he has never researched anything about jws.

If he doesn't know JW history of flip-flops you might get somewhere with stuff like organ transplants. Check jwfacts.com for more info. But like others said, don't back too many dumptrucks up on him at once. Take it one at a time. You will be amazed at what even active JW's don't know about their religious history.

How Cold is it Where You Are?
by PYRAMIDSCHEME inwith the polar vortex swirling further and further south and breaking records how cold is it where you are?.

It was warmer here today near Warsaw, Poland (43F) than at my mother's house in Florida (28F). Strange non-winter for us so far this year. Not complaining though.

BIG conversation with the missus MKII. Ended well. Wish I could argue better!
by Captain Blithering inwell, had a loooooooong conversation with the missus again after being accused of being overly critical of the borg.. .
i stated that i thought the borg was marvellous, full of really good people, (in our experience, it has been so far), but that i had difficulty with the dogmatic stance we had on certain issues that we couldn't possibly be sure about, and that if i were to vocalise any of these issues and unrepentantly not change my thinking, then i could be df'd for that, which i view as an unloving bullying tactic.
organ transplants, vaccinations, (jah will resurrect, don't worry), new understandings of the fads and generations etc... particularly the thought that only jw's will be saved.

I also hit the organ transplant thing as you did. I asked her: how would you feel as a faithful JW if you had denied your son an organ transplant based on what you had read in the WT and he died, and then 1 year later they said it was now a matter of conscious. No biggy, right?
We had a big discussion about who would get destroyed at the big A. She took the same stance as your wife - we never said that - it is up to Jah, he reads their hearts. So, if he can read hearts, why do I have to go out annoying them every Saturday? What's the point?
I did not go near the evolution/creation topic. She agrees 2370 is not possible for a world-wide flood. Now working on first human in 4026...

Hey CB, sounds like we had almost the same conversation. Congrats. My wife had left some highlighted paragraphs from recent Wt articles about the need to continue meeting together for me to read. and finally confronted me about it. At first I thought she wanted to talk about how much beer I have been drinking but that was not the case. Whew. Then I talked too much, but eventually regained my composure. Gave her a chance to read her WT paragraphs etc and started making my points. At the end, I told her I was glad we were finally talking about this instead of dancing around on eggshells. I have also offered to start reading the bible togther in line with the weekly material she is supposed to cover for the weekly bible reading . Nice since they are starting over in Genesis this week. I am ready.
She knows where I stand and why.

JWN Silver Linings....
by DATA-DOG ini am just sitting at home, thinking about how crazy i am.
i realized that i am crazy and probably need meds, but so is everyone else and i don't give a shit.

@DD: After I wote that comment, I had second thoughts. Instead of 'crazy' I wish I had written 'dysfunctional'. Very few people will fess us to crazy, but I think most of us realize we are a tad dysfunctional - in our own special way...

@Prof. J Goldstein: wow, really! no major conflicts since the end of WW2? And how long ago was that? I'm sure the people of Korea, Vietnam, Timor, Sudan, Somalia, Iraq, Iran, Syria, etc, etc. will all be relieved to hear that. Not to mention all the millions that disappeared after WW2 with the rise of communism in former Soviet Union, China, etc. Proxy wars are so convenient.

But what happens when nobody can even afford to buy cheap sh*t from China? The middle class in formerly dominant western countries is hollowing/tapped out. Who is going to buy all those plasma screens and iPhones? What happens when China can'e even manage 4% growth? Folks are already sweating bullets with the idea that it might fall below 7%...
