@prologos: it was at English speaking DC. Russian DC in Warsaw had 6 baptized. They had about 520 in attendance, we had 480-490 peak. Polish DC in Warsaw will have about 30k attending this year. I will try to get # baptized next weekend.

Notes from English speaking DC in Poland
by FadeToBlack ini managed to weasel out of friday, so no comments on the days program.
i'm sure it was marvellous.
i made it thru saturday's program in a fairly sociable mood, saying hello to a few folks we hadn't seen in years.

@problemaddict: they made a big point about this during the demos. If you open with - Do you think the world is getting better or worse? And the person replies with the thought that they see a lot of progress in the world, rather than trying to argue that, just move on to the Kingdom Message like Jesus did when talkng to the Samaritan woman at the well. Don't worry about who talks with who - that is just a distraction.

I managed to weasel out of Friday, so no comments on the days program. I'm sure it was marvellous. I made it thru Saturday's program in a fairly sociable mood, saying hello to a few folks we hadn't seen in years. Started dropping comments to the wife during the parts. First one was during demo of WT comments. The brother said: aren't we all encouraged by the upbuilding comments made during the WT study. I said under my breath: not really. That got me a poke in the ribs. On Sunday during Viv Moritz's final talk he actually admitted that JW's had made mistakes in the past. I was floored, but he fixed that with the following comment that despite this, nobody had ever been harmed by it. I said fairly loudly: NOT true.
I was hoping the wife would follow up with a few questions on the way home, but nothing. She was in full bobble-head mode at the DC.
Extra. We had no baptismal candidates. They gave the talk anyway but cut it short to include an interview with Viv and his wife. She turned up this gem: after I started pioneering with Viv we were so busy in our assignments that I didn't have time to think about anything. I knew what she meant but a classic freudian slip.
Overall, it was so shallow and superficial - about at the level of the new tracts. Ask question, ignore response of householder.

Breastfeeding in Bathrooms...
by cognac inthe natick, ma assemble hall used to have it's own room for breastfeeding mothers.
they changed this room to the accounting room or something like that and now have seats available for breastfeeding inside the bathroom.. there is one other small room available for breastfeeding but they close that off when the baptism is going on.
needless to say, i used to get so pissed off that they actually wanted me to breastfeed in the bathroom that i would threaten to a brother that i would take my boob out in front of everybody and that is there problem because breastfeeding in a bathroom is unsanitary.. one year they put me in some backroom.

sir82: guilty as charged. Thanks for the memory. That was me. And actually, I can be most accomodating. I would have no problem carrying your daughter in a car seat to the nose-bleed section but don't try to get on the elevator. I need a drink, just thinking about it. What a bunch of sh*t...

Did Anyone Apply To Go To Bethel, And Not Be Accepted?

@noonehome: if you really want to go, just randomly pick some number between 10 and 20 each month. Try to make placements realistic unless you want to get a part on the CO. If you are good at faking stuff, this could be your ticket. If not, forget about it.

should I stay or should I go?
by Crazyguy ini haven't had my dc yet and after reading about what's being said on saturday i was thinking about not going in protest as they are not being christ like.
will this be a good technique for my kids or should i go and endure the crap and then say a few things to my children while they're listening to this garbage?.

If you have to go just ask question later that day about the program. Make sure you look confused.
Why are they always going on about education? I don't see what's wrong with providing for your family?
Why is there so much time devoted to apostates and what kind of stuff are they talking about? Wouldn't it be better to have some positive talks about Jesus or love? Why don't they mention some specific examples of apostate talk so we would know how to be better prepared for it in the ministry? Perhaps they should have some counter-apostate demos.

Bizarre, nonsensical answer from JW.org on their FAQ page...
by Muddy Waters inthe answer on the faq page makes no sense.
the question is: "why don't you call your meeting place a church?".
the answer makes no sense at all.

And I suspect like their column 'Frequent Questions from Readers' this is just more of the same: Frequent Answers to questions we wish someone (not people) would ask. But since they didn't ask, we feel we need to provide a response just in case. As faithful stewards of the word.

Carbon dating and the Global Flood - links needed
by wizzstick ini've been using the search function on the site to research this, but a lot of articles seem quite old and there have been some interesting developments in this field of late.. if you're not sure on what carbon dating is have a look at this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/radiocarbon_dating.
there's an interesting point made in the calibration methods section: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/radiocarbon_dating#calibration_methods.
on developments in the last few years.. they highlight the discovery at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/lake_suigetsu and how it increased the calibration from 12,593 to 52,800 years.

Sorry, I added an edit after your response: Just curious when you suspect this flood took place?

Actually, yes, the Sumerian epics speak of a flood, but not a global flood. Have you read the Sumerian account from which the bible acount was cribbed?
And just out of curiousity, when do you think the incident described in the Sumerian account took place?
