  overall the numbers are better than last year (1.8% growth compared to 1.5% last year -- as i predicted ;-) ) with an increase in all major figures including 1300 more congregations (i assume this is not physical kingdom halls?).

  What would happen if the number of memorial partakers rose to more than 144,000??

  Nothing major. It's already obvious that there has to have been more than 144,000 partaking over the history of the WTS let alone those first century Christians. The majority just follow the rhetoric.

  I expect that we shall see WTS address rising numbers with yet more nonsense about the figure being unimportant, reminders it's only the GB that are the F&DS and for some strong articles about how unhappy Jehovah is if you partake without being 100% certain. They will probably make some statements about the depth of spirituality (i.e. stuff you do in the org) that a member of the remnant would likely have to try and guilt some into retracting their claim.

  hi acording to the 2016 year book the borg sent 6,000 people from bethels around the world "home" i think they might be struggling a bit lol .

  Can you imagine what uproar there would be if a corporation with a workforce of 26000 just made around a third of it's workforce redundant in a few months, including many with years of service?

  Can you imagine the disgust of people when they heard that those sacked were left without homes or jobs and given just a small stipend to cover a few weeks?

  Can you imagine the fury of the customers of the company at suddenly being expected to jump in and house, feed and employee these ex-employees?

  Can you imagine any of those ex-employees then going back to appear in corporate videos thanking the company for sacking them saying how happy they now were?

  The WTS has pulled off a master stroke of HR management here,

  You can fill up a Kingdom Hall with a bunch of kids only with the curiosity to saw some org lame video production.

  Which is what they were doing in North America and Europe 100 years ago with the Photo Drama of Creation.

  i lived right on the sea front the year the film "jaws" came out. i never went in the sea that year--after i saw that film.

  You may get a nip from a crab or a nibble from a dogfish but Great Whites around Shanklin.....????

  25 YEARS of compiled yearbook statistics

  hello again folks - as promised in my last thread here, i've been working on turning yearbook statistics into excel spreadsheets.. coincidentally, today is my 25th birthday (spare a thought for a fader).. i've now updated the spreadsheet with yearbook data all the way back to 1988 (the year i was born), therefore it now contains 25 years of statistics.. there were a lot of countries changing around and for some it was possible to create a continuation of data.

  some are a simple change of name like south-west africa to namibia.

  others, for example - in 1993 with czechoslovakia splitting into two countries (czech republic and slovakia) i have added an extra row that provides a continuation of the data, combining czech republic and slovakia back together as if they were still one country.

  what happens if you openly declare you are an aethiest, i don't mean go round forcing my view on everyone , but when pressured to go to the kingdom hall etc you stated you are an aethiest and no longer believe in god , surely you can't be accused of apostasy as you simply don't believe in anything ?

  Midnight - whereabouts are you? You sound like you are in a very similar position to me.

  My advice would be to keep your own counsel as far as possible with as many people as possible. The person you have to consider the most beside yourself is your wife and only you know how much of your personal integrity you wish to compromise in order to keep your marriage secure. By that I simply mean I am in the same boat and I know first hand that not everyone can make high impact statements regardless of the consequences.

  Beyond your wife and immediate family however my recommendation is to say as little as possible. Anything you do say can be used against you. The less you say means the less they have to process and determine what it means for how they want their relationship with you to develop, For many a "don't ask, don't tell" policy means they can mentally salve their their conscience about contact and keep you out of the "apostate" category.

  If you openly admit to being an atheist then at best you are giving people the green light to treat you like a DF'ed person. At worst you are alerting the elder squad to your situation and inviting investigation and malicious judicial treatment. If that doesn't bother you then fair play but if you are looking to keep the peace then the only real option is to keep shtum and avoid controversy where possible.
