That's where this thread started. Kate was responding to my comments elsewhere that (a) I was frustrated at the way every conversation where a deity was introduced to explain some or all of the naturalistic processes we see around us ended with the believer obfuscated straight forward arguments with any number of logical fallacies and diversionary tactics (in that case accusing Cofty of bullying) and (b) how I thought Kate, as someone with a formal scientific background, should be a perfect person to demonstrate how the scientific method supports her conclusions that a deity is involved.
We now end up here. 28 pages into a thread where the lack of adherence to logic, reason and fairly basic science is yet another glowing example of cause of my original frustration. It's yet another case that proves the point.
I really hope that Kate's response to Cofty, after 28 pages, will be the well thought out and logical argument that gives a solid reason as to why l/h bias supports the influence of a creator and cannot be down to naturalistic causes. In other words - the post that should have been presented right as post 1 on this whole damn thread.

so there was a peak attendance of around 8700 (as i recall - i was dozing...).
baptism numbers - 24. so around 0.27%.
it may be slightly up or down on that depending on the actual attendance.. the majority of baptism candidates were young people so very likely born-in..
That's a good point Phizzy however don't forget that the circuit assemblies also have baptisms. I don't know any confirmed typical figures but I think 5-10 per section of 900-1000 would be a reasonable guestimate based on my recollection of our recent assemblies.

6 Public Witnessing That Is Organized Locally: In addition to special metropolitan public witnessing, another new initiative is being organized by many bodies of elders in their local territory. With this initiative, publishers use a table or a mobile display at a busy location within the congregation’s territory boundary. This is different from special metropolitan public witnessing, which uses participants from many congregations to preach in the same high-traffic areas in cities chosen by the branch office.—See the box “Good Cooperation Needed.”
7. Where it is practical, how will the elders organize public witnessing locally?
7 The elders will consider whether the congregation’s territory has areas of high pedestrian traffic and determine if it would be practical to organize public witnessing. Possible locations for a table or mobile display include transportation hubs, public squares, parks, busy streets, shopping malls, college campuses, airports, and locations of annual events. There is an advantage in having a table set up in the same location, on the same days, and at the same times. It has been found that tables set up at shopping malls are more effective than those outside a single large store where individuals are usually focused on their reason for visiting that specific store. Some locations, such as busy sidewalks, may be more conducive to a smaller mobile literature display. Elders can download from our Web site special files for making displays of the Watchtower and Awake! magazines and the Bible Teach book. 8 Public Witnessing in Your Personal Ministry: Some congregations may not have a location in their territory that has sufficient pedestrian traffic to justify setting up a table or making use of a mobile literature display. However, even in those congregations, publishers are encouraged to consider including public witnessing in their personal ministry. Is there a shopping area, a strip mall, or a busy store in your territory? Is there a park or a place where people gather? Are there public events that are periodically held in the territory? If so, you may still be able to enjoy public witnessing.
Note how the personal ministry does not even include the carts and is not organised by the congregation.

Yup Perry - it's a remarkable thing although to be fair the WT were quoting another secular source. The irony is that the quote casts doubt on the figures of the size of the Ark and no one picked it up. They did the same when they mentioned in the Insight Book that one of the oldest pyramids in Egypt dated from before the flood.
You don't need any of this discussion about the ark to debunk the biblical flood however. Geology, physics, ice cores, anthropology, archaeology will do a pretty good job of it for you as a start.
Perry, does that reference really suggest there were columns of 40 oars with one oarsman on each oar?
Is not the account of the Tessarakonteres subject to a far amount of speculation and debate about how the hulls and oarsman could have been distributed? Even if you accept the dimensions it is more likely it was a catarmaran with multiple oarsman on three banks of oars.
It's also interesting that the WTS have published information that discredits the Ark. I suspect no one considered it when they put it together but check out the September 2013 Awake...
Historical records from the Ming dynasty say that Zheng He’s treasure ships were amazingly large—447 feet (136 m) long and 183 feet (56 m) wide. Scholars find these figures problematic and hard to verify, in that wooden sailing ships in excess of 300 feet (90 m) in length are structurally unsound.
“All indications are that exaggeration has been at work in the accounts that mention the ships’ enormous size,” says one article on the subject. “A ship of about 200-250 ft [60-75 m] would make much more sense than the 450 ft [135 m] one.” Whatever the case, in the 15th century, vessels measuring over 200 feet (60 m) in length were certainly exceptional, and Zheng He’s fleet included up to 62 of them!

There are people and organisations out there who can help. Perhaps start by going to your doctor and getting him to refer you to the best people able to help.

All of these press releases state 10,000 people were expected but the actual was no where near that.
The last speaker, Stephen Morris of the British Branch Committee made a big thing about two people that had turned up as a result of the invitations. This is all well and good until you consider that even if you said that 5000 of those in attendance had distributed 10 invitations each (a highly conservative estimate IMHO) that would be 50,000 invitations. Two attendees from 50,000 invites - a 0.004% return rate. What a joke.
