I echo all the comments in noshows, reliance on men, burden of preparation. They are are making the pill easier to swallow and, most concerning, more appealing to kids and parents through videos and a workbook. My worry is this will make the meeting seem more interesting for kids and get them hooked earlier.

Any thoughts on the real reasons for droppng the 'school"
by sparrowdown inmy thoughts are.
1. they want to avoid being made to comply with any laws that come with anything classed as a "school" especially a school with children enrolled.. 2. the mid-week meeting has been dying in the ass for years and needs a revival.
i predict happy -clappy-sing-a-longs to be included in the program.. anyone else have any thoughts ??

I just called Brooklyn Bethel about construction shut down
by Watchtower-Free ini just called brooklyn bethel service dept.
they said they had not heard anything about a worldwide shut down of construction.
i asked if he had heard about london bethel shutting down construction.. he said no that it was a surprise to him.

In my experience of Bethel the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing.
I would simply wait for reports to come in from the field - i.e. from those actually working on the project or with close ties to it.
I would also expect that the news was a shock to most of the Bethel families and they probably have not had a proper briefing on what to say to callers or on the status of specific projects. In true WT fashion I can imagine they did not imagine news would filter out to the point where concerned Witnesses would be calling in to find out the details.

by John Aquila inso they asked all the kingdom halls for all the money in their savings account and then make them give a monthly payment for the rest of their life.
the reason for this was because the in-gathering is so great, that they need to build, build, build!.
now the massive building will stop..

Interesting. There is quite a lot of "this makes sense, the end is near" suck it up and get giddy nonsense.
There has been some comment about funds running out, even counting the cost references, but this has been quickly countered with corporate support.
It has definitely caused some questioning of fiscal responsibility but that questioning is not going down well.
It will be interesting to see what happens as this becomes common knowledge in the R&F as by that time the AGM announcement will be happening. Maybe that will overwhelm people's questioning but on the other hand there has been so much change people are starting to get a bit jittery.

Here we are in an age of readily accessible information, an age when it is so easy to find information that debunks creation, man only being on the earth 6000 years, the need for magic to bring together the universe, the idea of a global flood 4000 years ago, the idea that 607BCE is some special date and more.
Yet, into this field of abundant knowledge, the GB see fit to bring nothing to reason against these. They see fit only to produce a book aimed at the absolute lowest common denominator. They see fit to reduce yet further the scope of the magazines they have for decades touted as the most important publications in the world.
Instead of the publications shining the light of biblical power, using scripture as a sword to slash through the ridiculous ideas of man, the GB can only muster a text book for the intellectually challenged.
According to the Bible, Paul was able to reason with hoards of people used to debating Greek philosophy. Jesus made scholars marvel. When was the last time the WTS published anything that could seriously counter the growing weight of credible and scientific evidence against the most fundamental of Biblical teachings?
More importantly, when will they? On current evidence...never.
The end result - the only way of being able to stick with this organisation will be BLIND FAITH.
Ask the questions. Find the answers. Stop kidding yourself that somehow these morons know something that you don't. That feeling you have that something just ain't right - that's your brain telling you all the evidence the "troof" is a crock of shite is right.
Do yourself a favour and listen to your brain.

Latest rumor - all WT construction "suspended", except for Warwick
by sir82 inheard 4th-hand, but from a full-on believer, so not likely to be an "apostate lie":.
apparently, at bethel's morning worship this morning, it was announced that all worldwide wts construction is "suspended" for an indefinite time, except for the new world headquarters at warwick.. also, the "relocation" of remote translating teams is also suspended.. finally, there will be a "worldwide" reduction in bethel personnel.. all this came to me in a non-english language, and,as noted, 4th-hand.
so it is possible something may have been lost in translation and/or in the multiple steps between bethel morning worship & me.. but if true, it would be quite stunning.

Er, you are assuming that the public talks will continue to be given by local elders. They will be video presentations from Bethel or fecking Caleb and Sophia cartoons in case anything else is too intellectual.

The TMS is the only thing that actually gave me something useful. I learnt how to speak publicly, formulate a presentation and have the confidence to present myself.
Now it's all top down, centralised and formulaic. There is no need for presentation skills when you stand like a moron at the top of the exit from a tube station with a pile of Awakes (as I witnessed in central London this week) or rest on a bench with your coffee whilst dozens of people pass by your redundant trolley. Why learn how to reason when all you do is show someone at the door a video on your tablet before pressing a leaflet telling them to go to jw.org so someone can contact them into their unwilling hand.
The best education in the world? Thank feck all the scientists, doctors and engineers of this world aren't taught this way.

Actually the meltdown of the clueless, head in the arse dub has started already over on our favourite dub friendly site...
Wow, exciting times indeed, I cannot wait til the letter is read and also for the Annual Meeting. Jehovah is certainly speeding up the work. And to think with all my worries and financial problems I was thinking of stepping down from Pioneering. But this has awakened me even more, I will deal with my problems and preach, preach preach.
All this conversation reminds me of the new morning worship by AMIII. Obeying will result in blessings. He specifically mentioned directions from the GB and branch committees. He did not seem very happy and now we can imagine why.
So because we help out with BRD, or the British branch relocation, we get to link up to morning worship in London bethel. The brother hosting that day says they've got a special announcement letter to read from the governing body. (I can't remember exact words so if anyone else was there maybe they can corroborate?)
It basically said further to the broadcast about helping contribute more money as it won't last forever, they are postponing, cancelling or majorly reducing all construction work, worldwide. This includes reducing bethel family drastically, and reducing the services they get while on bethel, like getting more to do their own laundry and housecleaning. All those that have to leave will be assigned to the field, in most cases as regular pioneers. It said that the governing body loves you very much and just to trust in Jehovah and make it a matter of prayer. They will follow with more information in the next weeks and months.
The reaction was mixed but the atmosphere was very subdued after this announcement as you can imagine.
But we started talking about it, and it's interesting that the governing body want to send more out in the field, maybe a last final big push before the great tribulation? Obviously the more in the field, the more will come into the truth, hence the need for more Kingdom Halls, but with most of the construction work either stopping or being reduced greatly does this mean that the governing body aren't thinking long term? I think this shows how close we are to the end, it's imminent! The stress now is on getting as many people in the truth as possible before the end!There is also at least one person laying really strong hints that there is more to come and obviously is aware of the content of the the leaked letter...
