I think the 2 elder reference is to the process where two elders speak to parties concerned and then report back. The decision to form a JC is then made.

When was the last time any ex-elder here knows of sisters dealing with a victim and then advising them? I would bet there would be not one first hand example.

since coming out of the witnesses, i have gone through a transformation in thought and in mind.

i started with the usual: i thought that jesus was god.

then i investigated more about the bible and thought that the bible was not true, given the many contradictions, failed prophecies, etc.. then i investigated evolution and read lots and now i accept evolution and natural selection as things that are true.. now, i need to make my dad rethink everything.

Sadly Mr. Harris you ruined what could have been the lead into an interesting discussion about the nature of education and the hang over of colonialism with some pretty wild claims about the age of the pyramids and the existence of a god whilst providing zero evidence.

How does the WTS view 'ancient humans' (i.e. fossils assigned to the genus Homo)?

having read i love ttatt's thread about evidence for humans living more than 6,000 years ago, i responded by using neanderthals and homo ergaster as evidence.

this got me thinking about the wt's current view on 'cavemen' (), etc.. so, how does the wts view 'ancient humans'?

Incidentally, this subject was one of the reasons for my waking up. The organisation had made it clear that they did not poo poo the idea of an earth that was billions of years old in a universe that was around 13 billion years old. This made it easier in some of the awkward conversations about creation I had.
What I was increasingly frustrated about was the lack of proper answers rebutting the large number of claims being made by anthropologists for the development of humans. Articles like the one about ape-men were simply white-washes of the subject. Nothing had been published for ages. They bought out the couple of brochures on creation but ignored the subject of human development.
It was clear to me that the organisation did not have a rebuttal. They had zero information to build a credible defence of a claim that man was created 6000 years ago. So they were ignoring it.
When I challenged friends about it they simply said to wait on Jehovah. To me it became nothing about waiting on Jehovah and simply about putting our collective hands over our ears and shouting "we can't hear you" at the scientists.

Heard a very funny thing just last night about this. Saw some friends who have faded. They have relatives (both in and out) who are really into personal training. They were talking to the relative who is in about diet and this person follows a Paleolithic diet - i.e. one based on foods that can be foraged and excludes foods that only became available after farming was introduced. The observation was made that it seemed an odd diet to follow since this person could not even believe in Paleolithic man given they believed in the creation of man 6000 years ago. The result? One slightly stumped Witness.

Can JWs be police in Australia?

hi everyone, i'm new here, i've been following the rc reports, and i was hoping you could help, my question is are jw allowed to be police, i heard the jws saying in one report with enthusiasm that they had jw in the policeforce.

and would there be any conflict from the force with any of their teaching, that would be contrary to duties..

it's not about indivuals being molesters/deviants.

Playing devils advocate, is there not a very small subset of convicted sex offenders who pose no long term threat as their conviction was based on their age and the age of the person they had sex with? I am thinking ONLY of those people in some relationship where one is just above the age of consent and the other just below.
I know that often the authorities look on these situations differently but there is still the feasible prospect of someone getting a conviction or caution under these circumstances.
Is this person a paedophile?
