He's just a guy, they all are, same as us, same as any pop-star or CEO or road-sweeper
My tactic for minimising the status of anyone else....
Imagine them taking a dump.

I applaud your initiative and give those opposing your actions a big raspberry farty noise with rainy spittles for them!
I've only seen a handful of posts that actually think what Cedars did was pointless.
The majority of those, like mine, with some kind of critical aspect to them are not opposing the call itself but are disappointed that he was not able to challenge Morris more. Nevertheless, he did what he did, the proof is out there and just getting through was a result in itself.

I don't think most of you guys are being fair. If you were to confront them directly, blast them with an array of questions about their core beliefs do you really think they would respond? Confront people with a silly joke and they are a much more open.
If they are on the defensive because they think the person asking the questions is an apostate or some nobody in a congregation then you might be right but it shows that the lack of openness is endemic. The defensive nature of Witnesses when challenged is repeated time and time again.
What if you met Morris as a householder on the ministry? His response would be different if he thought he had a potential fish on the line. Why would his reasonableness be any different when asked genuine questions even if it is by a journalist or a known critic and apostate like Cedars? Because the WTS revels in it's persecution complex. The WTS does not like debate. The WTS justifies a lack of transparency on the basis of spiritual warfare. A clear demonstration of this was there for the taking.
Don't get me wrong, I am not saying the call was worthless or even that petty. Just the fact an apostate can get that close on the phone is a pretty remarkable achievement. I just think that perhaps the opportunity to get something that was not in the least bit flattering to Morris was there.

Should of, could of .....
Make the call and see what happens. If you do not then it was cedars call to make.

Fair point but I will repeat for the third time that I personally respect him for getting through. I don't know what he was intending to do once he got through but I don't think it would have been impossible to have tried a tack that was more challenging to Morris.
I would be more than happy to make a call but I don't think there will be much getting through to Morris or any one else in the upper echelons of the org now or any time soon...

Good Job Cedars, if you would of ask any tough question he would of hang up sooner.
there is no laundry dept in brooklyn thats why he ask if your in wallkill.
There's the point. He did not hang up until he was sure the caller was fake. Anyone of the suggested introductions here would have kept him on the back foot long enough to show Morris up more than just being up for a bit of banter.
For example:
I'm so and so from xx congregation, sorry to call you directly but I did want to get to bottom of a matter and thought this might be the best way.
I have being pointing people in my ministry to JW,org and one of my studies has said he thinks a number of FAQs are not quite as open as they could be. He's mentioned things like us being Creationists yet the FAQ says we are not, that the extent of shunning, especially in the family, is underplayed and that he is confused about how many people may be destroyed at Armageddon. What do you think? Is it really honest, for example, not to be clear that we will not have any contact with anyone who is disfellowshipped if they are outside of the family home, even a child?
Well, brother, where did you say you were from?
xx Congregation
Well, what research have you done? What did it tell you?
I understand our position on disfellowshipping. I am just suggesting that this study has pointed out working that at best appears as spin, at worst could be considered being economic with the truth to the point of lying. Frankly I have to agree with him and it worries me. I have spoken with the elders but they said not to worry about then, after some further discussions suggested writing a letter. To be honest I know that letter writing can be tedious for all concerned so I thought I'd try and speak to someone who really will be able to answer my question. I didn't expect to get put through but here I am!
Well, I appreciate your tenacity here but really these things discussed by us in Bethel and we decide what is best for the organisation. Now if you don't mind I need to get on but rest assured we do keep on top of these things
So you don't think it is wrong for us to claim not be Creationists when we clearly are?
Look, I've given you my time but now I must get on. Please, write me a letter and I will ensure you get a response. Thank you Brother xx.

campaign of hate said this on another thread:.
they are quite clearly trying to copy the business model of apple.
it reminds me of the 2013 agm when they had an apple style technology section, focusing on the new jw apps.
Word is that the only reason JWTV went with Roku and not Apple was because AppleTV only allows certain approved "partners" to create apps for their set-top box. (That's why there's no Amazon Prime app for AppleTV.)
Anyone can create a Roku app.
What??? There's a limit to the blessings that Jah can bestow???

I've heard the same speculation amongst active JWs, but it doesn't really hold up. AppleTV is, by far, the easiest option to use for screen-casting a tablet (using airplay) when conducting a demonstration on stage.
There are other options out there, but AppleTVs are $99, and it's a no brainer to use them with all iPads, even iPhones.
Other screencast options for mobile devices are cost-prohibitive or are technically complicated.
No idea about the man but I would agree AppleTV is by far the best wifi screencast option. Chromecast is not even close.
Would Apple be really that worried about extra revenue from deploying solutions in the WTS? This is a company that made $7.75 billion in 3 months.
If it was going to be that entrenched then lookout for AppleTV knocking Roku out on the JW TV preferred hardware list..

For all those that think an opportunity was squandered you are mistaken and more than welcome to call up that deluded idiot yourselves and try to "catch" him. For god sakes the man records himself saying dumb shit, what does cedars need to that for!!!??? For those of us who are awake and openly out, this was simply a prank, and that is all it was ever going to be. Nothing more, nothing less.
As I said earlier, kudos to Cedars for getting through. I get it was a prank call but Cedars has demonstrated time and time again that he can put a logical argument together so why not try and make the guy feel a bit more uncomfortable?

I think he would have hung up very quickly but that would have been far less flattering on Morris.
Questions I would have asked (in no particular order):
- please can he explain, using the scriptures only, the basis for the current understanding of the generation
- why does the answer to the question on shunning on JW.ORG fail to point out that disfellowshipped children of Witnesses are to be shunned if they do not live at home?
- why does he not think that Jehovah's Witnesses are creationists?
- why do Jehovah's Witnesses accept blood fractions produced from donated blood yet refuse to donate blood themselves on the basis it should be poured out?
- when will Jehovah's Witnesses provide a rebuttal of all the scientific evidence that humans have been on the earth for far longer than 6000 years
- does he have any sympathy for the victims of child abusers who have remained as Witnesses in good standing even after being proven as abusers?
- how much does he think Candice Conti should be entitled to in damages?
- if one of the primary reasons for preaching is as a warning work and people will be judged on their response to the message, then how does he reconcile the implication that billions of people will be destroyed at Armageddon with the common perception amongst Witnesses that Jehovah will be merciful to many?
Sure, you might have got 10 seconds into the call before he hung up but it says more than having a bit of banter about tight pants.
i've been trying to figure out the purpose of the new (bland, commercial style) building that the gb is pushing.
it is not a design that attracts attention, nor does it offer a lot in future resale value.
it will be more difficult to build than the wood residential style buildings, meaning they can't use their cheap unskilled labor force for a lot of the work.
If they want to use space/time better, why not have 2 or more congregations using the building (assuming not in a small town far from other villages/towns). Save money by using less buildings. Below are some points churches should consider.
This is absolutely the model they wish to implement as far as possible. I was discussing this with a brother who is part of the impending LDC in the UK just the other week.
