I loved the babies. I enjoyed looking at the cute teenage mothers who married the only oaf available in their northwoods congregation.
That really did make me chuckle.
if the ultimate goal is to reach as many people as possible with the kingdom message, why does the society find it necessary to block any public access to the new dvd?.
could it be because the public will see how vacuous their teachings are?
producing this propaganda is a new low even for them.

i managed to catch the new dvd on youtube last night before the inevitable takedown.
as a film i felt it wasn't anywhere near as good as the prodigal movie, the story wasn't as dramatic, the characters much less interesting and developed and the direction weaker.
i found the prodigal relatively entertaining (all things considered) this one was just dull.. here are some of my random thoughts anyway [spoiler alert - ha!].
How does one become a mechanical engineer with a good job and an expensive house without going to college?

it's amazing to examine the watchtower of 1914 now in 2014... 100 years later.. .
here are some of my comments on the watchtower of 1914:.

Where can you get these?
i never believed in evolution as i thought it didn't make sense and that what was proposed was simply impossible.
how could an environment alter an organism's dna?
as we can see however, bacteria cannot become resistance to antibiotics.
Space - you don't need me to define Natural Selection. The definition is published all over the place. Your text book should have a definition. I just think you have missed the point. What your text book says is correct - genes are not sentient and they do not make some active decision on how to change nor does the environment communicate a change. That is not how natural selection works. I would suggest that you go back to the start of your text book and look at where it describes how it does work. Right now, all you are doing is essentially quote mining just like the WTS does in it's creationist publications.

Yup - the funny thing was that attendants had to wear high vis clothing. They had to be there in certain numbers for the event even to go ahead. The Watchmen just looked like normal brothers, just a little green dot on their badge.
When you watched them following someone it was hilarious - just like a comedy sketch of someone being followed. The "suspect" would turn around and the watchman/men would turn around, scratch their nose, look skywards, do up their shoes - anything to make themselves look inconspicuous but failing everytime. When we first went to the Brighton Centre there would be cleaning staff not wearing branded clothing and no passes so you would see them being followed. As an attendent you could sit back and watch as a guy with a bucket and bin liners in his pockets was followed by one or two watchmen straight into the toilets, the security detail stopping suddenly and then trying to look like they were not following anybody as soon as they realised their mistake. Very funny.
starts today!
now that england have slightly spoiled my world cup with their early failure, i am focusing a little more on the tennis.
i happen to live 15 minute walk from the wimbledon tennis courts so am completely caught up in the atmosphere, i will be joining the queue with a friend thursday night, camping out for the ticket queue early friday morning.
Murray has that lack of consistancy that plagues so many British sportspeople. He played well in the Olympics but frankly was lucky with Nadal being out and Federer getting beat early on last year. His head to head record with Nadal is poor and I think he will have to beat him in the final to win it this year. Not only that but there is a good chance he would have to be Djokovic in the semis as well. He certainly has the talent but does he have the consistency to win it again? Heart says yes. Head says no.

I respect the guy for doing what he feels is the right thing and for calling their bluff. On the other hand it is provocative and overall would just reinforce the stereotype of apostates being these crazy lone wolfs.
I am not sure how it's done in the US but in the UK we had "attendants" and "watchmen". The former were there to look out for the brothers and sisters, get them seats, ensure their welfare was looked after etc. The latter were the "security". I did both jobs at conventions and in either case the majority were itching for something like this to happen. We were always being prepared for some apostate assault at the convention - which never came of course. At the Brighton Centre there was a ticket office which remained open through the convention and random members of the public would be followed as if they were some kind of super threat. Any known DF person would be flagged up and all the attendants in the area they were sitting told to keep an eye on them. There was a talk on homosexuality one year and since Brighton is a town known for it's large gay contingent, there was a real worry that Brighton's militant gay population would get wind of this and organise a mass invasion of the auditorium. We were all on high alert. All leave (for lunch breaks that is) was cancelled. A line of attendants stretched across the entrances. We were wetting ourselves in expectation. Of course, nothing happened.
In both cases (attendant and WM) there was training on what was permissible under UK law. We were told it was a public venue and that as such we could not prevent access. Touching was a complete no-go area. A person being disruptive could be dealt with but only within very particular guidelines. Route one for someone like this guy would be exactly the same. Basically surround him and essentially intimidate him. When you see it in action like in this video you realise how ridiculous it is. They could have let this guy walk around and no one would pay him any real attention - he would just be "some apostate nutter" to most.
Looking back on it all the "training" we had just reinforced a persecution complex. Doing the job of a Watchman simply was yet another meaningless task to keep brothers busy. I just feel so stupid for buying into it hook, line and sinker...
hubble has been awesome especially considering it started with a manufacturing error and had to be repaired in space.
it has brought pictures of deep space that we could not have dreamed possible a few decades ago.. plans for its replacement are in progress.
the james webb space telescope will launch in 2018 and will be put in an orbit 1 million miles above earth.
This will be an amazing tool. Let's hope it does not need glasses like Hubble did!

Of course DNA does not make a concious decision about how to change to be better suited to an environment. That's not what natural selection is. Not only that, but natural selection is only one way that organisms evolve. I suggest you read one or two of the best books on how evolution works and understand what is really meant by natural selection.
"The Greatest Show on Earth", "Your Inner Fish" and "Why Evolution is True" were pivitol books for me.
