i don't know if this was mentioned but i spoke with a jw from atlanta, georgia that informed me that the great gb has approved jw auditions.. yes, you read that right!
now the jw's will have their own jw idol, jw voice, and dancing with jw stars, lol.. they are using an assembly hall in atlanta and jw's from all over are auditioning from 8am till 6pm.. supposedly the idea is to have live entertainment for the delegates traveling from overseas for the international conventions.. he said they have had jw's who can play all the hits from the beatles, play merengue, salsa, sing, dance, etc.. the gb is trying hard to make their cult look normal.. some of the questions this rises are,.
will it work?

snapper creek (miami, fl) congregation, had 2 pioneers (female), partake at the memorial for the first time.
one is 20 years old, the other 23.. the gt delayed again!!
!.
Strictly speaking they should be counted. The instructions are to count all partakers.
i m a little curious because i have hard to see that every single person has the interest to stand up and sing in the beginning and in the end of every meeting...... what will happen if you are interested in the so called truth, not to stand up and sing a song against your will?!
then, is it okay to sit down like normal when everybody else copy each other (stand up an sing a certain text/song) as parrots?.
I don't sing now. I stand up though.
our memorial was held at a music hall with roughly 1300-1400 in attendance.
there was a guest speaker from bethell, guess who??
andre!
Cheers BU2B. I know the guy you mean.

Which video is "Andre" in?
The jw.org stuff whilst passing the emblems did not happen at our hall and sounds incredibly disrepectful.
At least our speaker kept the web marketing until the closing comments.

when i worked for a book store i became familiar with beka text books for home school.. i spoke with the mothers who came looking for them.
i realized something didn't smell right.. then, i realized there are a couple of generations of fundamentalist kids who have had no exposure.
to the scientific method, science facts or any conversancy with physics or biology or history as a result of beka textbooks.. in a nutshell here is the situation:.
I think it is obvious that it is possible for some home schooled children to far exceed the mean achievement levels of those schooled in public establishments (to use the US phrase).
What none of us should lose sight of is the point of the original post. Home schooling is used by those with narrow agendas, often moulded by religious views, as a mechanism to restrict the exposure of their young ones to a diverse education that encourages critical thinking skills. Home schooling has gained some traction with Witnesses who think they are doing the best for their kids. They think they are providing them with the right level of knowledge, equiping them with just enough education to support a life of full time service to Jehovah (a.k.a the org). They think they are helping them avoid unwholesome influences.
The reality is that they are producing young adults who are at a high risk of not having good critical thinking skills, are ill equipped to deal with life choices outside of the scope of narrow WTS goals and are condemed to perpetuate the prejudices and logical fallicies of their parents.
Having said that, there are plenty of traditionally schooled Witness kids in exactly the same boat.
i was invited by my parents, and even though i have nothing but contempt for this religion, things have been good in our relationship so i was considering going just to appease them.
anyone else?.
Sadly yes. With any luck however it may be the last one.
from this week's book study, the "draw close to jehovah" book, chapter 5:.
biologists have identified well over a million species of living things on earth; yet, opinions vary as to whether there may be as many as 10 million, 30 million, or more.. .
wow!
Good point. It's possible to bring the point out in an answer if you are still attending. "It's so magnificent how Jehovah brought all these millions of specifics from just a few kinds on the ark. I looked it up in the IT book and it said...."

I don't think Home Schooling itself is the issue - it's the quality and nature of the curriculum followed. There are some parents who are able to provide a better education that the mean in their area but the problem is that the majority of home school kids are doing it so their parents can manage the curriculum.
Why do JW parents home school? Not so the kids get a better education but so that they can minimise contact with worldly kids and avoid subjects that may challange the faith of the child. They have no interest in further education. They simply want to mould the child to focus on "spiritual" goals.
Ultimately the critical factor is the interest that the parents have in the child's education. Focusing on education as a key factor in enmpowering your children and their ability to have the freedom to make choices in life is not simply a case of choosing one method of education over another - it's about constantly monitoring the quality of the education being recieved and ensuring those implicit messages are clear and understandable.
