What's a "paean"?

i wonder whether any of you took note of the article in the 12/15 study edition wt "the simplified watchtower .. why introduced" i couldn't believe they actually had the temerity to put such tripe into print and onto the record.. i was flat-out astonished with its put-down of vocabulary building and self-improvement:.
one egregious example: " the time spent looking up words and explaining expressions (ostensibly from the "smart people's" watchtower) is now spent gaining an understanding of the scriptures and how they fit into the lesson.".
one jw cited in the article actually blames her college education for causing her to fall into the bad habit of "speaking and thinking a way that was more complicated than necessary.

watchtower studies like today's really make me feel anger for this cult.
i mean almost all of them do but this one is one of those articles that takes things too far.. i mean they are condemning the people who are trying to help/save the earth because it's "satan's" world and instead are saying that religious salesmen with magazines are doing way more than the others!like are you f**king kidding me?another reason why i hated this study article is for what some of the young ones did in response to the study.
as one was unwrapping a piece of candy, he decided to throw the wrapper on the ground.
JW time is corban
so, i finally decided to become a member and make my first post .
a bit about me:.
i've been lurking around the forum for quite some time (about 6 months i think).
Hi Sparlock!
Good to have you here, and well done for finding the courage to post.
Im sure someone will answer your questions.
In the meantime dont rush your decisions or your fade. There are many here in similar situations.

we all know about the wt's famous quotes.
i can't find this article from the magazine on page 9 paragraph 8 from the lincolnshire boston target uk?
can i get some help from our crack staff her on jwn.
In the UK there are a lot of Target newspapers.
They are usual a free Town newspaper, subsidised by local businesses and adverts. Very small readership no where near a national paper.

question for the "spokesmen" otherwise known as jehovah's witness' governing body.. how shall we identify the already published teaching which is now obsolete, adjusted, corrected and not to be used for current teaching?.
i know you prefer to slough it off as old light because there is still "light" in that phrase.
but, a close examination would prove that incorrect too.. .

How is it plausible that Jesus examined the WT in 1919 and found them worthy of approval?
In 1919 they were still celebrating birthdays and Christmas, had a masonic crucifix on the magazines, taught the Bridegroom had already come in 1874 so were not in expectation of him and therefore could not have been "happy" if "on arriving he found them watching for his return."
They believed strongly in occult Pyramidology, taught Jehovah lived in the Pleiades, taught that the ancients were to be resurrected in 1925 and so built a mansion for them to live in. They allowed smoking, pictured the Edenic snake with legs, said t he "behemoth" from Job 40 was the stationary steam engine, the "leviathan" from Job 41 was the locomotive and the "valiant men" in Nahum 2:3 are the locomotive conductor and the fireman.
They taught the horseman on the white horse in Revelation 6:2 is the Pope, the "7 messengers" in Revelation are Paul, John, Arius, Waldo, Wycliffe, Luther and Russell , the "stars that fell from the heavens" in Revelation 6:13 refers to a meteor shower on November 13, 1833, the “Time of the End” started in 1799, Michael the Archangel is “the Pope of Rome” and the angels are his bishops.
They promised that those alive back then would never die, saluted the flag, worshipped Jesus, said the "Great Crowd" was a second class of Christians with a heavenly hope and taught many, many things which would today see you disfellowshipped for teaching them.
Could it be that 2 Tim 3:7 applies?
(2Ti 3:7) "always learning and yet never able to come to an accurate knowledge of truth."
Again, is it plausible that Jesus examined the WT in 1919 and found them worthy of approval?

i have just finished an article misquotes, deception and lies and would like your comments, proof reading, and any other examples that you think are important to add.
most of these already appear on jwfacts.com within specific articles, but it is more powerful seeing them included together.
there have also been a number of requests over the years for such a collection.
Under Plagiarism, wasn't there a WT front cover withdrawn after a cigarette company challenged the Soc for using it?
If I remember it was mainly red, with a silhouetted wooden house and porch.
Anyone remember this?

Update - Found it, it was a drinks company: http://www.watchtowerlies.com/watchtowerlies_063.htm
in 1976, my friend bruce price was in contact with jehovahs witnesses who had become disillusioned through the debacle with 1975. bruce was the leading voice among the sda ministry in working for jws.
at the time, i was a member of the sda church.
although i left them about 25 years ago, to this day bruce and i enjoy a strong and genuinely warm friendship.. so, in 1976 bruce invited me to a meeting with one of the jws who was leading the disquiet in his congregation in dandenong (victoria, australia).
Bump for those who were looking for the documents.
i've been playing around with wt statistics recently, helped by the great data available on jwfacts.com.
i wanted to share somehting with the community, maybe you've seen something like this before.. continuing the trend of decline seen during the last 30 years, i was able to extrapolate the year when wt growth might finally end.
if trends continue, we may only have to wait about 8 more years, 9 years to see it reported if the wt decides to report it at all, to see publisher growth end and possibly reverse.. the graph shows the annual growth rate of average publishers during the last 31 years.
"Keep it keen, 'til 2019"

i heard very few if any, of the new members on the governing body actually go out in field service more than three hours a month.
is there a reason why the governing body would excuse themselves from the master's commandments?
jesus christ never said "spending time writing rules and regulations" was part of matthew 28. .
Brilliant, thanks Cedars!
And thanks 88JM for the tutorial - I'm working through that with my photobucket account right now!
So with the image there are quite a few odd things on there - just take a look at the left mans forehead, and the facial vertical cut-off line on the left side of the man on the right.
