over the weekend, various publishers/congregations were.
instructed to go out in service for a "special work".. some congregations received letters from circuit overseers.
emphasizing immediate use of old awake magazines with articles.
>>Sometimes I think about Ninevah. How he had Jonah give the warning of destruction. But due to the hearts and responses of people, He did not bring such a destruction after all.
I can appreciate your points.<<
Troubled, I can appreciate you making this point but this is not what is taught. While I was a JW for some 25 years, I never recall this even being speculated or hoped for. However, I do remember being the study conductor and going through the Revelation book for the fourth or fifth time and finally just getting sick of all the illustrations showing how almost all of earth's inhabitants being destroyed while "Jehovah's people" smile and happy to see this destruction.
I guess what's comforting for me now is that I can finally "do" something. I don't mean this as an insult but to me going door to door is such a "hollow" activity. JW's claim to bring comfort to people but is this true? Maybe in some cases but the "offical" purpose is to start a study, get them to the Hall and on the road to baptism. What a differnt feeling it is now for me to truly help people without some hidden agenda.
Well, just my 2 cents.
do not call list.
an ex-jw in the uk has come up with a brainwave!!.
he canvassed his local area and came up with a signed list of several thousand householders who did not wish to be called on again by jehovahs witnesses.. this list was then handed to the local congregations and the london bethel who were then obliged to list all those households as do not calls.. has anyone else tried this?
Excellent idea!!!
doesn't it feel good to not be a jw at this point in history?
through the fear of the last few days, i do have comfort from scripture about my eternal salvation through jesus (as a witness you never felt secure with god--don't miss a meeting or field service for long or you're out), but also because my husband and i can display our american flag on our cars and in front of our house to support our country!.
as americans, we will not stand for terrorism and i'm proud to be in this country.
Today at noon here at work there were at least 100 of us that met under the American flag, shared a few encouraging thoughts, said a prayer and had a moment of silence. It was a moment that I will always remember and it stirs my convictions to fight against any that would try and steal my freedom, wheather that be another country or a cult.
Obviously Frightmare doesn't know what it means to be an American.
i just spoke to bryce at bethel information line (hopefully this was not just nytelecom1 himself).. this is what bethel has done:.
1. donated batteries and flashlights.
2. power equipment to cut through concrete.
I hope that this doesn't come across to bitter but that's like Bill Gates giving $10.00 to a homeless person and saying that he's helping the homeless. So I guess now the WT Society can toot their horn and pat themselves on the back and say that "we helped out."
It's sad that this billion dollar coporation that claims have the most loving people in the world concern themselves only with their own members well being. And don't tell me that I don't know what I'm talking about. I was at Society directed rescue operation here in Illinois when a tornado wiped out a whole town and I was also involved when a hurricane hit Florida. Did we JWs help people? Yup, other JWs. Once they were taken care of, most of us left. A handful stayed behind and helped out a few non-JWs.
I'm so happy to see all of the churches in my town putting up signs of support and/or grief, all except on church - the local Kingdom Hall.
i was sat watching tv tonight, her ladyship was dozing after a hard day, george the cat was purring and number 3 son had fallen asleep.. number 2 son was talking on the phone to his girlfriend, number 1 was out selling finance to prospective home-buyers.. know what?
these sons of mine know that i am always on their side, no matter what they do.
i can't think of anything that they could do to stop me loving them.
Oh yeah, forgot to mention. The book "The Road Less Traveled" is an excellent book. A must read for all ex-JW's wanting to heal.

Great post. It's something that haunts my mind when I think about my two young kinds and their mother who is still a JW. When I was da'd she came to me and said "if you're not going to be a JW there is no reason for us to be married." I shudder to think how she WILL treat our two kids when they choose not to go to the meetings anymore. Even at ages 10 and 7 they do not want to be JW's. They go to the meetings when they're with her because they're good kids and they listen and because they have some friends there. But now that they have plenty of non-JW friends, have started going to church with me and have begun celibrating the holidays. They are beginning to see how freaky the JW religion is, especially now that their grandmother (my mother) hasn't spoken to me for over a year. It actually scares them because they wonder "will my father or mother ever do that to me?" I assure them on a daily bases that I will never EVER abandon them for exsercising their right to believe what they want, even if it ends up being WT beliefs.
whats the difference between islam extremists and jehovah's witnesses?.
one group is hopeing to witness the destruction of 99 per cent of the population of planet earth.. the other group wants to take part in it.. radar
Actually, that is an interesting comparision. People here at work keep asking "how can these people be so brainwashed to believe that God wants them to fly an airplane into a building, killing themselves and thousands of others"? On a smaller scale, many of us have experienced something simliar. My family, like most other JW's, do whatever the the WT says. The WT commands "Do not speak to your family member who left truth", the loyal JW answers "YES!". The WT commands "Let your child who needs a blood transfusion die." Again the loyal JW answers "YES!" No questions asked. I shudder to think how far the WT could push a large number of JWs.
i find it ironic how many posts contain comments from jws about the recent tragedy and how this will soon lead to the governments attack on religion.
um...i dont know if anyone else noticed it but the exact opposite happened.
president bush quotes psalms 23 in his address to the nation, the members of congress sing god bless america and churches across the nation are being used as centers to help out with this disaster.

President Bush quotes Psalms 23 in his address to the nation, the members of congress sing “God Bless America” and churches across the nation are being used as centers to help out with this disaster. Churches here in Chicago are being filled with people who just want to say a prayer for the victims and their families and receive some encouragement. I wonder how many Kingdom Halls are being used for the same purpose? I wonder how many public prayers at the Kingdom Halls included the victims of this crime and their families? I wonder how many JWs only prayed for those working at Bethel?
Sounds like a plane just crashed right outside Camp David.
