i'm a registered republican but i have to admit that after looking at john kerry's web site, i may have to sway my vote his way.
what caught my eye is kerry's attention toward jobs leaving for overseas countries and how the government can at least stop encouraging (and rewarding)large corporations from doing this.
at bush's site, i don't see anything about this huge problem facing america.
Im not talking about immigration, we are talking about the loss of something to foriegn countries. That was your point right?
Not really. I was talking about John Kerry. His priority is to keep Americans employed.
We dont want to lose our low end jobs, and they dont want their intellectuals leaving the country to work over here.
That does bug me. I guess the governments in India and other countries should do something about it. Also, we're not talking about "low end" jobs such as an assembly line worker who makes minimum wage. Skilled tool and die makers, machinest, craftsmen are all being laid off. People who maybe don't have a college degree but have served official apprenticships for several years. For example, I own a small engineering firm that designs and builds tooling for the medical field (among other areas). My average tool and die maker makes $23.00 an hour. The average tool and die maker in China makes 50 cents a day. Now, I'm not asking the government to subsidize my business. Free trade is free trade. What pisses me off is that the government is more then happy to give grants and loans to large corporation to open factories overseas while closing their domestic plants. Again, if Motorola wants to close their plant here in the US and open one in China, that's their business. But when they us their influence to get goverment loans and grants to do that while the small guy like me can't even get any help, that's not fair. I believe Bush couldn't give a rat's ass about the little guy. I don't know if Kerry really does but at least he's talking about it.

Don't even get started on contributions from Fortune 500 company execs lest we open the whole Enron issue again. You can't expect Kerry (or Bush) to go through each contribution giving it a "yea" or "nah". And about Kerry's flip flops. What's really wrong with that? Look around this board and I'll bet you can find quite a few individuals who have "flip-flopped" on some pretty strong beliefs they once had. Know what I mean?

So in context, you would also support the banning of all smart people immigrating into this country as this would be a Brain drain in their home countries and would hurt their economy.
Huh? What? I don't think I even mentioned anything about immigration. The crisis facing America is the good, manufacturing jobs leaving for China and other countries. The government can't (and shouldn't) put in place unfair tariffs but they can stop rewarding companies who are doing this. I think Kerry is on top of this issue. The middle class is shrinking fast and I don't think Bush has a clue how to stop this from happeneing.

Jeez, and I thought leaving the WTS mindset was going to be tough! lol
i don?t know if anyone else recalls this or not, but i remember reading articles in the wt publications about having business dealings with ex-jws and how witnesses should do everything possible to avoid this.
they even stated that if your business partner becomes df?d, you should do everything possible to get out the business (i.e.
buy him out or letting him buy you out).
I can see the pained look on her face, but she has never, ever refused me service. I, do go out of my way to be plesant.LABD, of the living well is the best revenge, class
I think there are differnt "phases" we go through as ex-JW's. The "I'm in your face - deal with it" whenever I saw a JW in public passed rather quickly for me. I don't go out of my to avoid them or hide my face like I'm some type of leper but I also don't go out of my way to make a scene.
I'm not even really talking about the JW cashier or the pioneer who washes windows. I've known plenty of wealthy JW's (quite a few elders) who used their JW contacts as a business advantage. Added to this is the WTS self-righteous attitude whenever they are seen as being discriminated against (i.e. their current situations in France and Russia). Can the WTS and these wealthy JW business owners be taught a lesson by hitting them where it hurts the most, in their wallets?
I'm not spending days and nights trying to come up with some type of scheme. Just wondering what others thoughts are and if anyone has ever been denied service by a JW. Kind of a side note, anyone read about the class-action lawsuit brought against Wal-Mart for discrimination? Interesting stuff.
well, they dumped food service at assemblies, us subscriptions to the watchtower, reduced hard bound book.
distribution and downsized about a thousand bethelites ( over time).
supposedly, dumping subscriptions brought.
They could probably cut a 3 day convention to 2 2days assemblies. They'd probably get higher attendance, and more money.
Good point.

But like all things, there has to be someone to step up to the plate and show just cause that their civil right were violated (USA) or that they can show just cause how they lost out money unjustly because of this, this or that.
Having a JW business owner refuse to do work for me probably wouldn't be a problem but why go after a poor sap who's brainwashed. Question is, can the WTS be connected and sued?
i am so sick of the "team" mentality on both sides.
for instance, i am a fiscal conservative, right?
but the conservatives in office are spending like drunken sailors.
Even when the newspapers expose ... bridesDoesn't that upset the grooms?LABD, of the can't pass up a chance to post something irreverant class
LOL! Like my mom use to say to me "In your case, there's always math"

Jeez, you want to see a screwed up political scene, take a look at Illinois, esp. Chicago. Even when the newspapers expose the pay-offs and brides, people still vote for the same officals. It's nuts!
