My 13-year old son is with his JW mom this weekend but he just popped by to grab his baseball mit and to tell me (lol) that since his mom is making him go to the memorial tonight, he's going to eat the bread. He's a great kid but he has no sense of fear. He'll do it. I didn't know if I should laugh or tell him not to. After thinking about it for a few minutes, I told him he shouldn't (out of respect for him mother). As I was saying this I just couldn't help but think about the reaction of everyone at the kingdom hall. I just couldn't hide my grin. Jeez, I hope he doesn't actually do it (I think) lol.

Powell admits Iraq evidence mistake
by Simon inthe truth always comes out eventually.
i hate to say "i told you so" but all those who were extremely critical of those who questioned the 'evidence' do, i think, need to re-evaluate the faith they put in the powers that be and perhaps owe some people an apology.
remember?

You have given them a reason to hate you and to seek revenge.
No, the trick to understanding it knowing the fact the these people can demonstrate against and attack the US because they know we'll put up with this shit. Why didn't Saddam have this problem? After the mass killings of his own people, the torture rooms and stealing billions of dollars from them, his own people still didn't rise up against them. On the other hand, US forces are building schools, hospitals and have held back from retaliating against the people of Iraq, yet we still have a look of bullets flying. Why? I think people need to ask 'does the average Iraqi want US troops to root out the bad guys or does he want things back to the way they were?'

Tell me exactly and in detail how it is the US has shit on anyone in the middle east...by buying their oil? Perhaps the fault lies with their leaders who are always pointing their fingers at the US so that no one is looking at them as their robbing their own people blind.
Let's see, which countries ruled over the middle east and north africa....hmmm...which country helped (and is helping) to bring democracy there? Which country ruled over the largest Muslim nation in the world (Indonesia) for hundreds of years and which country expelled the Japanese from this same country and encouraged this European nation to leave? Which country have given billions of dollars to Arab nations of the world? hmmmm...seems to me that the Muslims who are pissed at the US need to look at the facts.

bush does not want to get out of iraq and neither does halliburton and co. if the US leaves (extremely unlikely) than only because the invasion is more expansive than anyone has forseen.
Why turn over power to the Iraqi Governing Counsel this summer? Why not drag things out like is being done in the former Yugoslavia republics? Why doesn't Bush say "well, rebuilding a country takes time..blah...blah..blah" ????

I'm still waiting for the big explination as to why the President and his cabinet was so sneaky and just had it in for the contry of Iraq? Again, where's the cheap oil? If we planned to "take over that country" then why are we already planning to leave?

Let's see if I can piece through your logic here. Because the US imposed sanctions (as in no trade) with certain governments whose leaders were corrupt, and consequently the citizens of those countries suffered/died because THEIR government refused to change and remained corrupt, the US is responsible for those deaths. These people have great wealth/natural resources at their disposal and yet their countries are literally staving, their corrupt leaders getting richer.
Kind of "funny" how Saddam ripped off the Iraqi people for over 10 billion dollars during the "oil for food" period alone and no one says asks "why aren't the people of Iraq pissed about this? Always the Americans this, the Americans that.

US fingerprints 'allied' visitors
by Simon inhow to win friends and influence people?
as if us customs weren't unpleasant enough already ... now they will make everyone feel like a criminal.
i hope we follow the lead of brazil and do the same to all us visitors coming over here.. your country is turning into a police state.

How will this improve security? Really? Didn't the Sep 11 hijackers have visa's?
Actually, what frustrates me the most is that almost all of the hijackers popped up as "security threats" on the airline computers but they were still allowed to board.
There really are only two choices. One, do the whole fingerprinting and check on everyone or two, profiling. And we all know how the public reacts to profiling.

Operation Iraqi Children (positive)
by Double Edge init seems like very few of the positive stories get out of iraqi.
it's a pleasure when one finally does.
actor gary sinise has been on the news lately announcing the formation of a non-profit organization that hooks up desperate iraqi schools with american sponsor groups like schools, churches, etc.

Price of gas....
by Atilla inthe price of gasoline sure is getting high, in my area it is about $1.65, i guess not too bad compared to other areas.
i'm not too worried because my camry gets pretty good gas mileage and i don't usually have to commute too far.. however, i think this summer it may reach over $2 in many areas.
i just wonder how this will affect summer aux.

Shoot, with the US invasion of Iraq for all of it's oil I thought for certain we'd have cheaper gas here in the States. Dam, who do we need to invade next? Mexico should be a push over. Time to rally the troops!
