If I remember correctly, the the Superman custom one was the result of some kid putting on the custom and jumping from a second story window thinking that he could fly. Bummer.

Word is Spreading.......
by metatron insome folks i work with asked if i'm a witness.
i told them i'm 'not active'.
they said "you have a choice?".

because word is getting out.
I agree 100%! All the news coverage regarding the WT's boneheaded policies is great but nothing beats people talking. It's easy for the WT to counter bad news reports but what can they do about all of the millions of private conversations that speak badly of them every day? NOTHING!

Wait til' next my friend. BTW, if I hear another Bears fan say any of the following, I'm going to have to kick some a**.
1. "We can loose every game, just as long as we beat the Packers." Yeah, just what I want, a 2-14 team. dumbass.
2. Any reference to the '85 Bears. For example, "It's just like the time when Richard Dent..." Come on! That was freakin' 17 years ago!!! I was in high school!! What have you done for me lately??!!
I'm really starting to get sick of having such a crappy football team. Hey, I left the borg and became an apostate. Maybe I'll do the same with my Bears stuff and become a Packers fan.

bad songs
by freedom96 in.
i was reading a post that reminded me of the songs that were popular but was wrong to listen to for various reasons.. we all remember puff the magic dragon being about drugs, which i hear was just a rumour.. another i remember was let it be by the beatles, which was " catholic based about mary the mother of jesus" when apparently it was written about paul mccartney's own mother.
shows what they know.. which songs do you remember that were "bad" that we were not supposed to listen to?

High school football - public vs. catholic
by roybatty inin your particular state, how do they mix public school & catholic school sports?
for example, here in illinois there are eight divisions for high school football (1a through 8a).
the larger the pool of kids, the higher in the divisions your team would be.

Now, on a serious note, do they recruit kids even if they are Baptist?
I'm not sure but at the risk of pissing someone off, the Mount Carmel Catholic team which again won the state championship this year (has made it to the finals 8 or 9 times in the last ten years) is made up of all African Americans. I never knew so many Catholics were black. :)
A part of me feels "Hey, it's just a sport." Another part of me hates to see the kids from public schools partice so hard only to get crushed by a Catholic team made up of kids that were recuited. For the first time in 17 years the football team from the town I live in finally made the playoffs only to be crushed by a Catholic team. The Catholic team had one kid who weighed 310 pounds!!!
Maybe it's true what what Catholic secretary said "Catholics are just better."

In your particular state, how do they mix public school & Catholic school sports? For example, here in Illinois there are eight divisions for high school football (1A through 8A). Depending on the size of your high school and the town, your team in placed in a division. The larger the pool of kids, the higher in the divisions your team would be. For example, a typical 1A team is a high school of about 400 kids from a town 2,500 people. An 8A team would come from a HS of about 3,500 kids from a town of 75,000 people. Anyway, here in Illinois a coach from a public school isnt allowed to recruit kids from neighboring towns, even if the neighboring town doesnt have a football program. Hes only allowed to use the kids from his school district. However, private Catholic schools are allowed to recruit any kids they want. Obviously if a coach sees an outstanding 12 year old playing youth football a few towns away, he can tempt him to come play for his team instead of going to the local public school.
Because of this it comes as no surprise that division 3A through 6A were all won by Catholic schools (which win them year after year). The only reason they dont win the smaller or larger divisions is because the typical Catholic HS school isnt very small or very large. Anyway, I was wondering how other states handled this mix of schools.

Number 6. As the engineering manager for a large company, I oversee the outsourcing of a considerable amount of work to vendors. Every Christmas a ton of presents roll in. Some are sent to my office (which I share) and others come straight to my house. My favorite is the $250.00 worth of steaks and lobster. Mmmmmmm...good eating! Funny this is, even my then wife (a diehard JW) enjoyed the x-mas presents I received! LOL!

Are you lonely today?
by gumby inwell it's thanksgiving today.. yes today is the day families get together and enjoy the company of those we love.. if you are an apostate as we are....this isn't the case.
today our witness families and friends will be getting together and eating a big turkey dinner also....they always do.
are you sad today of the reminder that this religion has broke this relationship?

I raise my glass to all of you though, because, dammit, this is the last year for me to be alone on a holiday and I'm looking forward to many freedoms in the near future and I'm sure all of you will too. I think for many of us, it's the first year and we're going through transitions of an enormous sort
Hang in there Lutece. In 2000 I also got divorced (ex is a diehard JW) and da'd. JW family are also diehard borg. What hurt the most was hearing from my kids about my family having my ex over while treating me as though I were dead. I guess blood isn't always thicker then water.
Since then I've made some wonderful friends and have been "adopted" by another family. They're wonderful and always include my two kids and I in differnt holiday celibrations (and more!). Their love isn't conditional. Thank God for people like them.
Enjoy your wine and keep your chin up.

It was so unfair in our Hall that a certain sister was allowed to have a beard but brothers weren't allowed to grow one.
