can the marriage work
by DIAMOND inis it even remotly possible that a marriage can work if the wife is a jw and the husband who has been one for over 30 years is on his way out.
is there any advice on how this can work or is it just doomed for divorce!!!!
i love my wife and kids but she's not handeling this very well at all.

I went through the same thing myself a couple of years ago and we ended up divorcing. I believe we both tried but she remained the hard-line JW. Simply put, we began living in two differnt worlds. She resented the fact that I "turned my back on Jehovah" (gag!) and I resented that she was raising our kids in a cult. But as time has passed we've both lightened up and are focused on raising our kids. Good luck!

Comparing yourself to your kids
by roybatty inmy ex and i had a sit down talk with our 11-year old son yesterday night.
nothing major, just some needed adjustment to his attitude toward his sister.
anyway, it got me to thinking late last night how much better behaved my son is in comparison to when i was his age.

Tomorrow he is going to do it with the garage door up LOL.
LOL. Now that's something my little brother use to do. He was always this skinny litte runt (total momma's boy). Whenever my parents weren't home and one of their cars were in the garage he'd "steal" the car and drive around the block! Here this little kid driving my mom's station wagon around surburbia! Come to think of it, I never told mom about THAT one!
Regarding our kids not having it as tough as we did, I agree 100%. My parents immigrated here from Europe and opened up their own manufacturing firm. So working after school and during summer vacation with my father was a given. While I make my kids help around the house, working in a factory at the age 10 isn't a good thing! And don't even get me started on the type of clothes I buy my kids compared to the ones my parents bought. Yuck!

LOL. Yup, that had to be the luckiest day of my life. Funny thing is a few years ago while all of us were at my parent's house, my brother decides to let our mother in on our little secret while I wasn't there. I walk into her kitchen, give her a kiss on the cheek, saying "hi mom!" and she says "don't hi mom me." I didn't have a clue what was going on. Meanwhile, my brother and his wife are sitting at the table with their faces downward with these grins on their faces. I was like "ok, what did I do now?" Then she let me have it with both barrels! "But that was fifteen years ago mom!?" She didn't want to hear it! I instantly changed from a 30 year old man into a 12 year old boy being scolded my their mother. lol. I think sons will never truly be men in the eyes of their mothers. We'll always be little boys trying to get away with something behind our mother's back.
Ah, I do miss her.

My ex and I had a sit down talk with our 11-year old son yesterday night. Nothing major, just some needed adjustment to his attitude toward his sister. Anyway, it got me to thinking late last night how much better behaved my son is in comparison to when I was his age. I cant believe some of the stuff I did! Do you ever sit back and think to yourself "My God, what were my parents thinking??!!" or "Thank God my kids dont do what I did when I was their age!" Between the BB guns, dirt bikes and firecrackers Im surprised that I made it to adulthood. There was one particular infraction that came to mind last night..
I was close to the same age my son is right now (many, MANY years ago) and I recall it was during summer vacation. My mother had just left the house with my little sister. So here is my little brother and I, home alone. We get hungry and decide to make some french fries. We pull out the ol deep frying pan and pour in some oil and start cooking some yummy fries. "Ding Dong" someones at the front door. Ah, a group of my buddies stop by and see if we can come out and play baseball. Sure, of course we can, were home alone! Yeah! "Lets see, what do I needmy bat, glove and ball." Hmmm.what am I forgetting???? Hmmm..OH YEAH! I need my cap! And off my brother and I go.
After playing baseball for a few hours we decide to go home and get something to eat and drink. Heck, lets invite everyone over. As we get closer to the house someone peeks through the windows and shouts "Hey, Mike why does it look fogging in your house?" OH SHI*!!!! I left the stove on! The whole house is filled with smoke and black soot! Mom and dad are going to KILL me!!! What can I do?? I got it!!! Paint the inside of the house!!! So we open the windows, let the smoke out, go out to the garage and proceed to bring in a half dozen paint brushes and pails of paint inside. Picture a dozen 12 & 13 year old kids painting the kitchen, living and dining room with god-only-knows type of paint.
Then the dreaded announcement "Stein! Your mom is pulling into the driveway!!" And we werent even half done (besides the fact it looked like kids painted the house. Duh!) She walks inall of us are silentstanding there.with brushes in hand. She has this stunned look on her face.her mouth drops open and she says "Oh my god, I forgot to turn the stove off! And you kids were trying to clean up the mess. I love you boys!" I thought to myself "YES! THANK YOU GOD!!!!!" And for many years it was a secret that my buddies and brother kept from my parents.
So each time my son misbehaves, I just think back to this experience and am thankful that he doesnt like deep fried fries. J

The Loving Elders
by MoeJoJoJo inthis is what has been happening with us lately.
we (my husband and i) have not been to any meetings in over a year.
the elders have stopped by quite often (once they stopped by and they were here from 10:30 12:00, they left the others in their car group, out in the car the whole time!!

The one elder has always been among the two that stop by, but each time he has brought a different elder with him.
Yup, almost always the PO leading the assult team. They'll keep calling and stopping by until they get the answer they want.
While being DA and cut off from your family sounds harsh, the one post about "the first day of your life" is 100% true. Something about being DA's because of standing up for yourself is so powerful.

My husband told them basically that he does not feel that the organization is Gods
They got ya! This was always one of the first tactics elders are taught. If the person is basically no longer going to the meetings and it looks like they'll never be coming back, get them to DA themselves. Easiest way is to have two elders make a three-way call to the person that they've targetdd for termination and ask them this classic question. When answered in front of two witnesses, it's enough to zap ya.

Thanks for taking the time to scn and post these KMs. Since most of the "hard-core" indoctrination takes place at the Service Meeting, it's great to know what my kids are being bombarded with. It makes it much easier to counter the effects.
THANKS!
