amc,
I agree. As we all know, time is relative. Assuming an Almighty God exists, time as we percieve it, doesn't apply to Him.
why god cannot have existed forever.. this is something a friend of mine brought up a number of years ago.at the time i just thought that to understand how a god existed forever was just beyond our little brains.. well now after reading a lot more physics books i think its evidence a god couldn't have existed forever and therefore would had a begining (if there was a god).. basically if god had lived from infinity in the past we wouldn't have been created yet as there would always be forever untill we were created.. do you get that?.
at any point in time we could take, if time went back forever then you could never get to that point in time.
you would always have infinity infront of you.. sorry if this doesn't make much sense as it is not easy to describe.

tbilisi, georgia (cnn) -- experts from the u.n.'s nuclear watchdog have been helping georgian scientists transfer two radioactive devices, discovered in the remote west of the country, to a secure storage site in the capital, tbilisi.
the u.n.'s international atomic energy agency team has had to trek through the snows of the remote caucusus mountains to recover the devices.
wearing protective clothing, and using long metal tongs the two soviet era radioactive batteries were plucked, steaming, from the bushes, and encased in lead.

the elders just called us.
one called and another one got on the phone first to ask if my husband would meet with them.
my husband told them he had nothing to say, and if they are going to make any announcement from the platform that slanders our name in any way we will sue them personally, and if we do meet with them we would only do it if our lawyers come and to tell jr brown and mario marino to come also.
Yeah, ashitaka, it was so cool doing that. Instead of getting stressed out about meeting with the elders (heck I was one for goodness stake) I just kept remembering that they are just little men who have never done anything with their lives.
Their jaws justed dropped and all of them (the original 3 three and the 3 on the appeal commitee) has this look on their faces like "don't you realize that we are going to DA you?"
When you take away that "power" from them you force them to remember that being an "elder" means shi* to 99.9999999% of the world's population, that they are NOTHING. It makes them scared. It's espeically great when you see them later on around town. I saw one elder who was on my original JW at a school concert that both of our sons were in. We "bumped" into each other and I greeted him. When he didn't respond I just said it louder, acting like he didn't hear me. Then people around us looked at him wish this "aren't you going to answer him" expression. He looked like a scared rabbit.
Hey, you have to make them realize that if they are going to mess around with people's lives, that some of us are going to mess with theirs.

That's what I did. I even appealed the first JC just to mess with them. My "crime"? I joined the YMCA, and like you, this was after two years of not stepping into a KH.
During the second meeting I stood up, looked at my watch and said "Monday Night Football is about to start, so it's been fun guys but I'm outta here."
The look on their faces was priceless.

Meet with them, tell them to kiss your ass and walk out. The letter won't make a difference to them. At least keep your dignity and have the satisfaction that you didn't play their little game.
since i'll probably dfed soon, i'm wondering if any of you are near me.

i wish to present three situations that are true to life and open up a discussion on these different scenarios and how would would personally act toward them.. 1) a 75 year old person has been a jw for the past 40 years.
most of their friends are jws.
they look forward to the fellowship at the meetings and though the congregation is far from perfect, they are pleased with the fact that they have a purpose in life.
Excellent post Dakota. What if any of this people became irregular in their meeting attendence or field service? Would they still receive this same "love" from the congregation?
I recall this one older sister in the Hall who had been a life long JW. After her husband had died and her kids had grown up and moved away, she took up some new hobbies. One thing she started doing was making arts and crafts and selling them at a local crafts show. So she stopped going out in service on Saturday mornings, and instead would be selling these items she had made. For the first time in her life she was receiving praise from people for her talents. How did the congregation react? Oh, they didn't kick her out but there was plenty of talk about how Sister so and so was becoming "spiritually weak" because she was no longer out in service every Saturday.
I guess I see your point that ignorance is bliss but its also conditional, just like the love of the average JW.
note jr brown's coments.... .

Dang, this issue is really taking off..WOW!
in the last 6 months the following has happened.
un involvement rocks the society.
leaks from the elders school.
No, they won't fall apart this year but it's going to be great when they knock on someone's door, start bashing the hourseholder's religion and the householder responds with an "aren't you the religion that doesn't report child abuse"?
Yeah, like everyone else has said, there will be sweeping changes in the years to come. They'll need to do that if they plan on holding onto the people that they currently have. BUT...but...it is in the realm of possibility that the WT just could collapse on itself.
the other day an elder expressed concern for the "growing number of apostates on the world wide web" and said "apostates are "demonized"!.
choose the definition the elder most likely intended to imply:.

That would be a cool party trick, being able to spin your head 360 degrees. Where do I sign up?
