  i should have closed with the following comnment on my post.. when the clean-up is finally done by the messiah through the angels it will be fair and just.

  no one at that time will be able to argue what he does.they will not be able to say it is a cruel practice.

  it wasn't in the 1st century as i showed in the article.

  New International Version uses the word “friend”

  New American Standard uses the word “friend”

  The Revised Standard Edition uses “friend”

  The Young's Literal Translation uses “comrade”

  The Darby Translation say “my friend”

  Hmmm…Yeah, I guess any Bible besides the NWT is a bad one in your eyes huh? Again what example does Jesus leave for us? That even when someone did something as bad as what Judas did to Jesus, Jesus still called him “friend.” Did Jesus shun him? No. After I read the passage I get the feeling that Jesus still wanted to save him. When someone is df’d from the Hall, that person hasn’t done a single thing against most people in the congregation personally, yet all will treat him as if he were dead. The example that this reminds me of is that of the religious leaders in Jesus time who shunned people on a regular bases.

  in an organization as obsessed with control as this one is,.

  i have to wonder if the society's leadership ever considers how.

  disfellowshipping can turn against them.. i doubt, when they developed the idea of a person "disassociating.

  The fact that the great majority of those df'd never go back is an indication of how "loving" this arangement is and that it doesn't work.
  Come to think of it, I'd be willing to bet that if the WT stopped the shunning part when df'ing someone, quite a few would end up coming back. I imagine those who, after being df'd for something such as immorality, would after a few years (and after having settled down) desire to again be a JW. But because of not wanting to go through the silent treatment when attending the Hall, they decide against it.
  Let's hope that the boys in Crooklyn never figure this out.

  I wish I had the time to address your post piece by piece but I don't. However, I couldn't go without pointing this out. You said:

  I must have missed the part where Paul instructs the congregation overseers to anounce that an individual has been df'd and that this individual would have to later meet with a jc and seek their approval in order to be considered in good standing.
  Gosh, could it be that Paul had in mind the freedom that comes with having a Christian conscience and that as individuals we could decide for ourselves? Yes Paul gave direction but didn't set up a new set of rules for his brothers and sister to adhere to. Not that I claim to be the shining example of what it means to be a Christian but if you can't see this point, then you miss the whole reason of what it means to be a follower of Christ.

  Why the bible does'nt make sense to me

  for some odd reason this morning when i woke up the first thing that came into my mind was the suffering and pain that humans deal with on a daily basis.

  again i'm not really sure what made me think about that so early in the morning.

  (maybe it was a dream i had).

  i'm not certain but it seems like there was a scripture that went something like we are not masters over your faith.

  it might have been paul or maybe one of the other disciples talking to a congregation.

  i can't quite remember exactly where its at.. does anyone know what i'm talking about?

  So what do you think about the Y Tweetie? I enjoy it quite a bit. I go three or four times a week. It was actually kind of funny during my JC meeting. I asked one of the elders "so where would it be better for a Christian to excercise, at the YMCA where Christian values are promoted and familes are encouraged to attend or the local health club which is more of singles bar?" LOL. Never did get an answer from him.
  My kids and I enjoy going. Our local Y is huge and has the latest workout equipment, along with a pool. Also, countless single parents and low income familes are helped by means of the pre-school program. I enjoy coaching there and love it when I have helped mentor kids who need a little extra help.
  What's especially cool is when helping out at the local Y you don't have to turn in your time! :)
