My ex-wife (then girlfriend) doing EVERYTHING but IT. We were 19 or so, horny and ((cough..cough)) enjoying each other. But jeez, the next day, the guilt trips were terrible. We were pioneers, I was becoming a MS, doing parts on the assemblies, etc.. We'd talk about it, chalk it up to it being ok because we were planning to get married, promise not to do that again, and sure enough, it would happen the net day. LOL. Oh well. What a waste of time worrying about stuff like that. lol

What Made You Feel Most Guilty While You Were A Witness?
by minimus infor me, it was knowing that this wasn't the only "truth" yet feeling responsible to carry thr "party" line and "encourage" others to remain steadfast in the "truth".

The british occupation of N.I. is not exactly *current affairs* at the moment though is it? If you want to be critical of it though, be my guest.
The reason it isn't *current afairs* is because it's been on going for some 30 plus years. Perhaps its just human nature to point the finger at another country. I bet you this much, US troops will be out of Iraq long before British troops are out of Northern Ireland. Bush is being painted as this moron and Iraq as this huge mess. All I'm saying is if 30,000 British troops can't settle the troubles with the IRA in Northern Ireland (a country where they speak the same language as the natives), at least cut the US SOME slack as 140,000 troops try to rebuild a country of 40 million people who's whole culture is differnt. Europeans love to bitch about the US detaining "terrorists" down in Cuba or this current abuse case in Iraq but when it comes to affairs in their own backyard, nothing is said. My personal feeling about Iraq is that the US military will not solve all the problems there. They need to get out and let things be settled politically.
BTW, your post about British troops abuses. Was that against Iraqis or Catholics in Northern Ireland? I must have missed it.

So people who criticise the government when they think it is wrong are supporting democracy, and isn't that supposed to be our main goal?
The "problem" I have is the fact that many people will only consider one side of the argument. You think America shouldn't be in Iraq, cool, no problem but don't deny that at least SOME parts of Iraq are doing better. Yes, it's a war and war is ugly. Bush, the US military, international toops are not perfect and mistakes will be made. I'm more interested in how the mistakes happened and what's being done to correct them.
I also roll my eyes back when I see one set of standards for America and another for differnt nations. Simon brings up some excellent points when bashing America's invasion of Iraq but he's quiet when the topic of Britain's 30 year military occupation of Northern Ireland. Want to immediately post a topic about SOME sickos abusing Iraqi prisoners? Fine. Bring it up. But also address the same issues within your own country. Again, it's the JW factor. The Watchtower will splash across their cover some anti-Catholic message but never will you read a single article about Catholic Charities.
The whole approach leaves little room for discussing a topic and instead leads to endless cycles of non-productive arguments. But truth be told, I enjoy both. lol.

I just love how an isolated incident has made all these Muslims argry but the building of schools, hospitals and such haven't been given much (if any) air time.
All of it just reminds me so much of the Watchtower's bassing of the other religions.

Quite frankly I was astounded and moved. I cried and cried. What a moving film. The part where Mary sees her son fall when he is on his way to death....she suddenly sees him when he was a child and he fell when playing....and she sees how she ran to him and picked him up and told him "I am here". So she runs to Jesus and holds him saying "I am here". Well that was one of the most moving scenes I've seen in film.
I would have liked to have seen more scenes like those you mentioned and less of the whipping and beatings. I was sitting there, watching the movie thinking "yes, I know, he got the crapped beat out of him". I would have liked to have seen more about the man.

First time in Jail
by Descender inso i got to spend most of my night in jail last night for the first time.
but the whole thing doesn't seem right to me.
i was charged with public intoxication.

It was about 11pm at the time and I'd been there since 3pm that afternoon, I'd drinken about 10 killians drafts since I'd gotten there.
Easy solution to avoid this problem, just don't drink that much when out in public. Usually when someone gives you the number of beers they had, you can double it and get the true number. :)
Here in Illinois, 1/2 of the traffic fatalies are alcohol related. I'm not saying you did anything wrong and maybe the cop overreacted but I'd rather have him error on the side of caution then letting someone intoxicated drive.

I am just so amazed at my family's inhumane behavior that I just keep staying on the verge of tears.
I keep thinking to myself that I've seen it all (with JWs & Df'ing) but I'm still amazed and shocked every time I read one of these accounts. Unbelieveable. I hope by some miracle things workout for you sister-in-law but also that your family lightens up on you. I'm just not sure which would be more a bigger miracle! One would think that faced with such a crisis, the human thing to do would be for parents to make amends with their kids instead of driving them even further away.

Why I think Bush is scary
by Simon inhttp://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4767542/ in woodward's portrait, president bush is single-minded, and possibly simple-minded, in his resolve.
he seems to have relied more on divine guidance than the considered opinions of his top advisers.
bush told woodward that as he approached the final decision to go to war, "i was praying for strength to do the lord's will ... i'm surely not going to justify war based on god.

If you think you have a better alternative, then please step up to the plate and make your case.
It's one thing to bash a world leader for his faults, real or imagined. It takes a lot of effort and thinking to suggest a replacement for him or her.
Whom do you suggest we should replace Bush with, Simon?
That's the problem I have with the Bush bashers (and even formerly the Clinton bashers ala Rush). What answers do YOU have? I voted for Bush, and there are things I don't like about his policy. He doesn't seem to be doing much to stem the tide of good jobs leaving the US. Kerry talks about doing something, but what is he going to day? He just doesn't say.
What do you suggest Simon? Have the UN take care of the threats in the world? Oh, yeah, that works great. Trust nations like Iran and Syria to do the right thing? Uh-huh, that's going to happen. Again, I ask over and over again. What if Bush would have attacked Afghanistan before 9/11? We would have had the same protests as we see about Iraq. What if Bush didn't do anything about Iraq and three years from now there is a terrorist attack and we find out that the weapons came from Iraq? People would be screaming "Bush, why didn;t you do something? You had the reports!" Blah blah blah.
This world is one screwed up place. I'll take my chances with Bush until a better canidate comes along. If Kerry is elected, God help us.

Life Sucks
by Xena in.
no prospects for the future except getting old and dying...most likely alone.. all seems kind of pointless sometimes, doesn't it?
-

It wasn't supposed to be like this, you know? I am a middle aged divorced woman with no college degree trying to raise a daughter pretty much on my own. Most of my life I believed I was never going to get old....never get divorced...never have to worry about retirement or putting my kid thru college....my parents were never supposed to die and my sisters were supposed to love me forever....
Why didn't someone warn us?
Yeah, sometimes life sucks. Sometimes all we can do is hang on for the ride and hope that we're making things better for our kids.
Peace.
