I can't see the governing body turning down a visit to the Aquadome in Austria or maybe they just don't want to mix with the rank-and-file JWs.

Satan’s Snares Today
In the main, Satan’s tricks have not changed over the centuries. In order for Christians living in the corrupt city of Corinth not to be “overreached by Satan,” the apostle Paul gave them strong counsel. He said: “We are not ignorant of [Satan’s] designs.” (2 Corinthians 2:11) . . . In some countries, mixed bathing in saunas and hot springs is popular . . . Just as in the early centuries of Christianity, Satan tries to entice God’s servants by means of worldly leisure activities.

If any jackass is found running at large the owner shall be fined (Rutherford 1895, 23).
Makes me think of the current $4000 a day fines being imposed by the court in California on the corporation Rutherford set up which is now known as Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York.

Reverse psychology
SAY TO A JW: Adam was created in 4026 BCE. If we count forward 6000 years, recognizing there is no Zero Year, this brings us to 1975 CE. How come Jehovah's Witnesses didn't mark this year at all?

It wasn’t every day an axe weilding man could be observed poised on the side of the roadway with his thumb jerked outward in the international signal of the hitchhiker.
Rounding the bend in the highway, Melvin Arbuckle’s lip curled like a dumbstruck Elvis impersonator as he caught first sight of the hitchhiker.
Beside him, his wife Thelma peered over the top of her Dollar Store sunglasses. The two Jehovah’s Witnesses spotted the hitchhiker in transit to their local Kingdom Hall.
The black 2003 Camry slowed to the edge of the Interstate and halted parallel to the axe weilding man. Melvin and Thelma smiled in delight. At least today, they thought, we get to start our field service time before we meet up with the group at the hall.
The funeral service for Marvin and Thelma was held a week later in their beloved Kingdom Hall. The speaker from Bethel spoke about the resurrection hope ...

Jehovah loves "even rounded numbers" or could this be a way to disprove the inspiration of the Bible?
by notjustyet inwhile i am not able to recall them all at this time, i remember so many instances that when a number was quoted in the bible, especially large numbers, they were all "rounded up" to the nearest hundred or thousand.
for instance the angel killed 185,000 syrians, not 184,879. sampson killed a thousand men with the jawbone of an ass, not 961. and on and on on the even rounded numbers.
i would guess that it could be agues that these numbers were correct but is that realistic?

I love the Book of Genesis. The first chapter completely disproves that God is the author of the Bible.
Genesis 1:14-19 clearly states that God made the stars, the sun and the moon on the fourth day.
Genesis 1:9-13 clearly states that God brought forth vegetation and trees on the third day.
Genesis 1:3-5 alludes to God creating light and darkness on the first day but this does does not refer to the stars nor the sun or the moon as these are clearly referred to on the fourth day.
Therefore vegetation and trees existed on Earth before both the sun and moon were created which is not possible.

Brother & Sister-in-Law Return to Kingdom Hall After Two Decades, Quickly Get Stumbled
by TMS init was a mild surprise, learning that a brother and sister-in-law had began re-associating with jehovah's witnesses after at least 25 years of being away.
the couple, of hispanic ethnicity, are in their early 60's, with their five children all grown and independent.
the family had been considered nominal jws, infrequently attending meetings, rarely in field service, but using the annual convention as their family vacation.

At the couple's second or third Kingdom Hall meeting since coming back to the organization, our brother-in-law learned about a special work day at the Kingdom Hall the following Saturday, to mow grass and trim bushes. He showed up on Saturday ready for work, but was informed that those duties could only be performed by approved JWs "in good standing."
Many years ago in my area the Watchtower had to undertake safety training for volunteers on a new kingdom hall building site. Statutory requirements were that all the elders and brothers supervising and working on the site must undergo a regulatory safety briefing carried out by a licensed safety officer. The Watchtower did not have one. A sister in the area advised the Watchtower that she was licensed and could train the elders and brothers and issue them their certificates at no cost to the Watchtower.
The Watchtower rejected the offer as they could never submit to a lowly 'sister' instructing elders, circuit overseers, bethelites, district overseer, ministerial servants and brothers.
Problem solved. The Watchtower contacted the regulatory body and asked them to organize a training program at a substantial cost per head.
The regulatory body arranged for a qualified instructor and teacher to conduct the course. They looked at their list of licensed instructors in the area and sent the most qualified.
Imagine the surprise for all these brothers assembled at a local kingdom hall when the instructor and teacher that was sent was the actual sister, who they had to pay $500 fees for plus $25 per head instruction.
Watchtower mentality will never change.
At a kingdom hall cleaning I was asked to clean the toilets. I replied to the elder "I'm sorry I can't clean the dirty toilets. I'm not spiritually qualified."
The following suggestion I have mentioned to many young brothers over the years on how to get out of kingdom hall or assembly hall cleaning or volunteer work at conventions: "Sorry brother I can't help with the cleaning as I'm on restrictions."

JW's opinions on bunker video
by neat blue dog inthe so called bunker video isn't just getting attention here but among jws as well.
i've heard a fair share of cracks, some half joking half serious about the prospect of the video playing out in real life .
but something else i've heard is that the video was meant to be figurative, an illustration representing the 'interior rooms' prophecy..

the video was meant to be figurative
When JWs cannot face the reality of their teachings it all becomes 'figurative' and cognitive dissonance kicks in. Go figure!
ME (to JW trolley babysitter last week): How many years ago was it that Jesus said the end was close for true Christians?
JW: Um...
