15 Years of Jehovahs-Witness.com
by Simon inyes, today is the forum's 15th birthday!.
i never thought for one moment that it would survive this long or have so many people post so many great subjects over the years.. it is still humbling when i get pm's or emails from people expressing how the site has helped them and of course thanks goes to all the posters who have shared their experiences and make helpful and supportive comments to others who are in the sometimes difficult process of learning the real truth about 'the truth'.. the site has gone through several different incarnations over the last 15 years running on different platforms, different databases and different hosts but we've been able to keep all the old topics.
the current site is still being developed and i'm hoping to push another major upgrade soon.. i also may have some other news to share soon about the future of the site so stay posted.. until then, here's the the next 15 years!

I wonder how the hearing would have gone if the Lipsen's were Jehovah's Witnesses?
Goains ... doesn’t get to do whatever he pleases, even though he’s not subject to the same limits as God. That he imposed such a condition for the release of a defendant demonstrates two important things. First, he cannot be trusted in the office. Second, he is a cancer that must be excised. No one can sit in a position of power and abuse his authority this way.
That could read like the actions of any member of the governing body or even an elder presiding over a d'fed hearing.

"White was a former Army serviceman, long since retired and living off Social Security and disability checks. He also was a deeply religious man, she said, a Jehovah's Witness who shunned Western medicine and encouraged Jackson to use herbal remedies, even to treat her diabetes. Jackson said the Whites attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses near the airport at 301 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Kenner."

WT terms of use for website material
by stuckinarut2 inso the society's website has the following terms of use.... how can they forbid people from quoting or posting content on any form of social media?
how too can "breaching" these self imposed terms be "punished"?
nearly every "good" witness sends the society stuff to each other via instagram, facebook, email, etc....so are they disobeying the directives of the governing body?.

Federal magistrate to retire
March 19th, 2015In conversation with the Honorable B. Dwight Goains
By SASHA von OLDERSHAUSEN
On November 9, the Honorable B. Dwight Goains will retire from an eight-year term serving as the U.S. Magistrate Judge in Alpine, Texas. At 66 years old, Goains has nearly 30 years of experience working within the U.S. legal system – first as a criminal defense attorney, then as a federal prosecutor, and finally in his current position as Magistrate Judge. The Big Bend Sentinel/The International sat down with the judge to discuss his career, his thoughts on the U.S. court system and his plans for retirement. See the interview below...
What are your plans for retirement?
My wife and I are both Jehovah’s Witnesses so we put a lot into our Kingdom Halls and have always promised Jehovah God that the day I’m eligible to retire, I’m going to retire. We’re both going to be full-time pioneers. We’ll be knocking on doors, starting bible studies, teaching people what the bible really teaches.
Has your line of work ever been at odds with your religious beliefs?
They don’t because one of the big things about the bible is that is says you pay Caesar’s things back to Caesar and God’s things back to God. Jehovah’s Witnesses obey the law, they pay their taxes, they respect the government, and they follow the laws of the government. If it’s against the law to run a red light, you don’t run a red light.
"Jehovah's Witnesses obey the law." - U.S. Federal Magistrate Judge B. Dwight Goains, a Jehovah's Witness

darkspilver - "what about the website you used to get the picture from - http://lh5.ggpht.com/ - I don't seem to see any crediting of Daniel Meyar on that website??"
When I posted the image in the OP the appropriate credit "Daniel Meyar, Licensed for use under Creative Commons" was used.
The subject was the use of the image by Watch Tower without the appropriate credit in the link on the "assets" page [Edit to add>>>] and the claim of intellectual property ownership on the JW website by Watch Tower in relation to images that are not credited, such as the subject image.

The above image has also also been published on the following website: assets.jw.org/assets albeit without credit or attribution to the author Daniel Meyar.
The above JW assets web address clearly identifies the image as an asset belonging to Watchtower.
The following Watch Tower Terms of Use page jw.org/en/terms-of-use contains the below Legal Notice...
As there is no indication of the image belonging to anyone other than Watchtower it can be concluded that the image of "Memphis -Ramses Colossus" is the copyrighted "property of Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania".
Watch Tower's Legal Notice on their Terms of Use page says:
"You may view, download, and print copyrighted ... photos ... from this website for your own personal and non-commercial purposes, subject to the restrictions set out below and elsewhere in the Terms of Use. Hence you may not:
- Post Content from this website on the Internet (any website, file-sharing site, or social network);
- Republish Content from this website with or as part of any software application;
- Reproduce, duplicate, copy, or otherwise exploit material on this website for a commercial purpose or for money (even if no profit is involved)
It will be interesting to see if Watch Tower takes down the image or corrects it. Of course that all depends on whether the JW Writing Department or IT department or any others at the JW headquarters read so-called "apostate" websites, such as this one.
