    So the Society's website has the following Terms of Use...

    How can they forbid people from quoting or posting content on any form of social media? How too can "breaching" these self imposed terms be "punished"?

    Nearly every "good" witness sends the society stuff to each other via Instagram, Facebook, email, etc....so are they disobeying the directives of the Governing Body?

    Of course, us "apostates" also cut and paste such stuff for "dishonourable" reasons....

    What can they really do to enforce such directions?

    Watch Tower's Legal Notice on their website page says:

    "You may view, download, and print copyrighted ... photos ... from this website for your own personal and non-commercial purposes, subject to the restrictions set out below and elsewhere in the Terms of Use. Hence you may not:

    - Post Content from this website on the Internet (any website, file-sharing site, or social network);

    - Republish Content from this website with or as part of any software application;

    - Reproduce, duplicate, copy, or otherwise exploit material on this website for a commercial purpose or for money (even if no profit is involved)

    If they can figure out how to keep copyrighted things off other websites they can make a pretty penny selling that info to Hollywood and the music industry.

    See the following link Fair Use which explains the US laws regarding posting and using copyright material. It is these very laws that Watchtower uses when they quote from secular sources in their articles. They do not need permission but can apply the Fair Use laws.

    Depending on the laws that govern, any legal owner can license the use of his legal property. Anyone choosing to violate that license agreement risks suit but has the right to hire counsel to defend himself at trial, or, may choose to settle "damages" without the trial. Sometimes, such a person may get a "Cease and Desist Notice" ( But don't count on it.) demanding that such person "...stop or legal proceedings will be commenced against you..." If a person flagrantly violates a license agreement and his defense is that other licensees also violate the agreement, he will have to show what licensees have violated the agreement and why should those violations entitle him also to violate the license agreement. "Good Luck" with the Court if such a violation is established to be true.

    They are the custodians of the truth and they want to make sure no one steal their potential customers...they love to brag that they're the ones who taught their members the truth...that they are the only ones to preach the good news...I remember a website posting the daily text was forced to shut down...if it doesn't come from mother may make you less dependant of her.

    "Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 17 U.S.C. § 106 and 17 U.S.C. § 106A, the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phono-records or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright."
