I think the only "positive" thing I can say about any of those quotes or positions is, they used to be pretty bold and took a position regardless of whether politically correct or not. Today they seem to be as politically correct as any other form of media, with watered-down articles and very little strong positions aside from putting down education and apostates. Even their articles on education are not that strong, they take a stronger position verbally than they do in written form, probably intentionally as verbal arguments are much easier to dismiss whereas the written word is more permanent (although now with the WT going mainly to digital media they can revise anything they get heat on).

Don't ever....ever...EVER forget these came from the FDS and Governing Body
by Terry inwe do well to bear in mind that among the drugs, serums, vaccines, surgical operations, etc., of the medical profession, there is nothing of value save an occasional surgical proceedure.
their so-called "science" grew out of egyptian black magic and has not lost its demonological character.... we shall be in a sad plight when we place the welfare of the race in their hands.
[1] 1. the golden age, aug. 5, 1931, p. 727.. the journal of the a. m. a. is the vilest sheet that passes the united states mail.... nothing new and useful in theraputics escapes its unqualified condemnation.

What's The STRANGEST Thing You've Seen At A Kingdom Hall?
by minimus ini saw a fight break out on the platform between an elder and a unbelieving husband who accused the elder of f---ing his wife.
he then threw the lectern on the floor and pushed the elder.
it was cool.......

jeremiah18:5-10
On at least two occasions my dad fell asleep at bad times. Once conducting the book study at a house that the family kept the house like 80-85 degrees. Everyone waited patiently until my mom pinched his leg and woke him up. On another occasion he fell asleep as the WT reader. Hilarious. Oh yeah, on another occasion he passed gas very loudly while being the WT reader, all of this while being an elder. My brother's and I found him to be hilarious. He didn't care, he had no problem laughing at himself.

Also of interest is there was no evidence that GZ even hit TM at all, TM didn't have any wound aside from the gunshot wound, whereas GZ was pummeled. It appears, based on evidence available that GZ didn't "fight" at all and didn't even get a punch in. That makes ot appear that he was ambushed. How do you argue that?

jeremiah18:5-10
I haven't read all previous comments yet, sorry if this is a repeat. GZ got out of his vehicle to try and keep visual contact. He had called police and was waiting for them to do the confronting. GZ avoided earlier opportunity to confront. When he was instructed not to follow, he stopped. He slowly walked back toward his vehicle, still hoping to catch a glimpse of TM, on the call you still hear wind but his voice is calm, normal, no evidence of running or walking fast, no shortness of breath. TM chose to confront GZ as opposed to just going home. TM got pissed by GZ "following" him, aka attempting to keep visual contact. All indications are that GZ didn't want a verbal or physical confrontation, thus calling 911. If he were an alleged vigilante, the call would've been after the fact. TM chose the confrontation route, not GZ. Keeping visual contact is not provocation or confronting. TM apparently felt empowered though not armed. The correct verdict was reached.

Ideas to wake up the JW 'Feelers'
by Captain Obvious ina great point was made by neverknew on another thread about certain doctrinal issues will cause a 'thinker' to wake up, but a 'feeler' will just shrug and carry on.
the feeler jw is often not stupid, but intellectually lazy.
they will often not bother to do research, whatever is said from the platform is fine.

I suspect that those who are born in, as I was, are kept there because they feel safe. Its the only social circle they've ever known. Where else would they go? The big bad evil world?
Why not attempt to make some friends with some nice moral worldly couples and gently integrate them into your social circle, thus helping her to see the big bad evil world isn't at all like the society paints it to be. Then it will be easier for her to let go gradually, just fade into the background and escape without her even knowing it? She would replace the void the society fills for her and she wouldn't need it anymore.
Just an idea.

Thanks for all the well-wishes.
Frownedupon, I have replied to your pm
Robert-I guess what has helped the most in leaving wt is doing it together, independent study, and research of sites like jwfacts, jwsurvey, and jwstruggle. We both read coc and read the bible for the first time ever without the pre concieved teachings of wtbts. This was eye opening. We continue to be humble and hungry and keep our minds and hearts open. We don't have everything figured out and don't need to. We recognize wtbts for what it is and have completely rejected any supposed authority it has or any authority family may think they have and instead worry about pleasing each other and our children. We are just now making true friends that are unconditional.

Would it be too cruel to..............
by Amelia Ashton inyesterday i had a real blast from my past turn up un-announced on my doorstep.
she bumped into my daughter (who has rejected me) in sainsbury's, took her to lunch and got my address from her.
she claims she has been searching for me ever since she discovered i was back in the uk.. she is a disfellowshipped sister who was described by one of our elders as a wagon.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, is she initiating religious conversation or are you? If she invited you for dinner in spite of your contrary views, wouldn't that indicate that she's willing to accept you for who you are instead of for conforming your views? Or is she wanting to try and change your views and convert you back to the jw's? If not trying to concert you, isn't this the kind of acceptance we all long for, to have freedom to have our own views and still not be shunned. She should have the freedom to hold her own views too. Can you accept her despite her views? Again maybe I'm misunderstanding, please explain.

The antidote to the myth that JWs are declining
by slimboyfat inone of the most persistent myths on this website is that jws are already in decline, the rot has set in, and the descent of the watchtower is inevitable from here on in.
unfortunately the facts do not bear this out.
jws are still increasing even in most developing countries, and they are still growing worldwide at a faster rate than the general population.

The WTS is so dependent on the numbers to prove they are the "onnly true religion with God's backing" they simply can't ever afford to report a decline. They never will!!!! The only hope is for individual members to look around and see people leaving the congregation or the combining of congregations. They will only see that if they want to. But then again, the WTS has an explanation for that too, it simply is further proof of Satan attacking God's people as prophesied, its a win-win for the devious bastards.
