I remind that you posted the comparison in my thread about RC 3 months ago. Prologos than asked 2 questions
prologos4 months agoOrphanCrow: are all Catholics served the wine?, or, just like the JWs, denied it, but allowed to watch the special class member ( priest) drink?
TheWonderofYou Does not the Governing Body composite pope speak "ex Cathedra" too? Flag Dislike LikeConcerning the sacramental wine.I asked the same question many times when I watched the priest cleaning drinking wine and then cleaning the cup in the mass.I found out that in former time in the churches everybody could drink his wine, everbody who wanted got it.The church had large vineyards in the past. The wine for the ceremony had to be a special clean wine, a special breeding. But then it became to complicated to serve wine for everyone, the catolic form of communion was not an annual but daily wine-drinking. Finally they did not want to spill some wine during the holy ceremony (a handling, technical matter thus), what then lately resulted in quiting the wine emission during the mass at all.The wine is now only drunken by the priest during ceremony, but if you want to drink wine you can go to the priest and you will receive it even today without any problem for a special occasion. Generally in liturgy the sacrament of host (bread) represents the wine as well.Anyway the priests are not acting like a special class comparable to the "anointed one" at JW,
when they dring the wine, as you can drink wine if you asked the priest too.The church teaches that all christians are Priests and body of christ in the ceremonysharing the same fate of death and resurrection during the communion, not only a few.A well-known bishop said once that the "office" to be a R&F christianis of more importance than the "office" of a bishop. -

"It is evident that there is a distinction between a ‘falling’ due to weakness and the ‘falling away’ that constitutes apostasy. The latter implies a definite and willful withdrawal from the path of righteousness. (1Jo 3:4-8; 5:16, 17) Whatever its apparent basis, whether intellectual, moral, or spiritual, it constitutes a rebellion against God and a rejection of his Word of truth.—2Th 2:3, 4;
This is a disinguisssshed citation of the tower's article about "apostasy".
The tower looks like a chess piece btw. As usual the Tower uses the bible text book as text module for a teaching.Okay we know that in all christian churches exist "church laws" like in the RC and protestant. This church laws know excommunciation and other disciplinary measures too. Does this mean that disciplinary measures for apostasy are a common accepted pratices in all christian denominations?
If yes, on which basis are they installed?
Is this church discipline by e.g. excommunation, banning for apostate teachers like women that are celebrating messes against the church law in catolic church not the same blossom of legalistics as JW have except that the shunning is more intensive?
I only want to remind you how apostates were treated in middle age by the church in the so called "INQUISTION". The methods of inquisition in finding out the thoughts of your mind and your clear consience are similar to the JUDICIAL COMMITTEE AGENDA.
If anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take special note of that person and do not associate with him, so that he will be put to shame.

If you like further information about "church discipline" simple google it. Be happy if you are not under the church discipline anymore.

Why Do You No Longer Believe in God?

was it the wts and all its crap?
was it something you read?

Once I had the opinion that it would be "better decision to belief" than "not to believe".
Granted that God existed, I would benefit from all blessings
(like surviving gods jugdment at the day of Armageddon)
if not I had not suffered a loss.I think that many are following this logic. But considering that in many religious groups the individual choice is methodically limited by institutional rules, which manipulated persons freedom and reverse it in loyalty to an organisation, resulting in irrational and harmful personal patterns of behaviour, I now think that the loss of believing in a cult is bigger than the blessings.

In a modification of Kant I would agree to philosopher Ursula Pia Juach's (56), [University Zurich] statement in an interview published Oct.26,2015
"...We cannot prove that love exists, but we can act as if it existed.
We cannot prove that righteousness exists, but we can act as if it existed. This "as-if" is the maximum, what man can achieve. I know that outdoors govern envy and greed, but I can nevertheless act so as if humanity would be possible. That is a beautiful solution against the little desperation, that besets us sometimes".So I cannot prove that god exits, but I could act as if.

Kant said in "Kritik der reinen Vernunft" that an idea or an imagination cannot be proved.
Ideas (like God exists) would be misinterpreted and falsely adapted if treated like physical fact. A constitutive use of an idea is false. Ideas are only valid relatively. If you treat an idea as fact than you get into contradictions. The basis of knowledge has to be considered.
Kant wrote about matters of reason and matters of idea. In the first case
I use terms with the aim to define a subject. -

Peshitta, Aramaic New Testament
by Connie inhas anyone come across this line of research on the new testament?
i stumbled upon it today researching the divine name, and textual criticism of the nt.
it seems that the peshitta is an aramaic translation that has been handed down through the centuries without the controversies of the greek translation.

This article presents information and errors in the syriac-aramian language Peshitta that speak against primacy
Problems with Peshitta Primacy written Steve Caruso
http://aramaicnt.org/articles/problems-with-peshitta-primacy/
My opinion:
The translation of the YHWH(hebrew) into MarYah (syrian-aramaic) vs. kyrios (greek). Of course the syriac translation adds to Lord (Mar) the Yah (for the YHWY). The Maryah was used for God and for Jesus in some cases, what seems to give both the same honour.
But writing Maryah has nothing to do with the pronounciation of the Tetragram. The peshitta.ORG constantly use the term for Maryah=Lord Jehovah, thus pronouncing the name, what is incorrect. They use perhaps, i am not sure yet, the word Maryah as argugment that the divine name has its place int the NT 239 times.
The word MarYah instead of YHWH was a replacement for YHWH like in greek the kyrios. The Yah is also present today in Halleluja, but this doesnt mean that we knew the correct pronounciation of gods name.

Give me some time and I will find for you the pdf with all so called "better" understandable passages in the NT, by reading with the aramaic co called "original". I read it once.
A citation of the peshitta.ORG.
"The Peshitta Aramaic New Testament names Jesus (from the Greek “Iaysous”) as “MarYah” -“THE LORD JEHOVAH” 32 times, at least! This the Jehovah’s Witnesses & most western churches have yet to understand and accept. "In The name of God in the new Testament the Netzari (Jews who believe in jesus show how Gods name is part of the NT as they see it.

Browse through the article
http://aramaicnt.com/articles.htm
They really belief strong in their theory that aramaic was the original NT-bible and that Jesus is the Lord Jehovah.
(Im further looking after the pdf with all NT passages better readable under the aramaic loupe, like the passage of the camel that fits in an eye of a needle, i once read it)

It is interesting how Gods name is writtten in the syrian-aramaic Bible "Peshitta".
There is a minority of scholars who advocate the Peshitta-orginal hypothesis of the New Testament. I am not advocate of that theory because most scholars contradict it. But the material these scholars provide are interesting to read. Although all scholars contradict this view, we should know about it. The believers in this theory are adherents of the Orthodox Netzari Judaism, who belief in Jesus call him Yeshua - the word of YHWH, here is a link to Netzari Judaism. http://www.therefinersfire.org/mj.htmReading the NT and checking diffcult passages with aramaic reveals intersting new insights also for you if you not belief in an aramaic primacy.

The most noteworthy advocate of the "Peshitta-original" hypothesis in the West was George Lamsa of the Aramaic Bible Center. A tiny minority of more recent scholars are backers of the Peshitta-original theory today,[4] whereas the overwhelming majority of scholars consider the Peshitta New Testament to be a translation from a Greek original. For instance the noted Assyriologist Sebastian Brock wrote:
The only complete English translation of the Peshitta is by G. Lamsa. [Hew was a historian, linguist, theologian who swear to the theory that aramaic bible was the origianl]
who was This is unfortunately not always very accurate, and his claims that the Peshitta Gospels represent the Aramaic original underlying the Greek Gospels are entirely without foundation; such views, which are not infrequently found in more popular literature, are rejected by all serious scholars.[5]

Jehovahs Witnesses and the Name , HOW Important. ?
by smiddy injehovah`s witnesses place great emphasis on the importance of god`s name as jehovah .so much so that they are often accused by christendom`s religions as substituting jehovah for christ.. the old testament ( hebrew scriptures identify god as the tetragrammaton four hebrew consanants yhwh and not jhvh.
as mistakenly believed by a 13th century spanish monk .. modern scholars including the j.w.`s agree that the more accurate pronunciation of gods name would be more nearer to yahweh than the name jehovah .. so why do j.w.`s insist on the name ?
jehovah ?

"Aren't they really Christan Witnesses since they are supposedly preaching the Gospel of Christ."..
Jesus attitude would be:
"Who is not against me is for me, Even if they would cast out demons in my name, let them do their thing, do not hinder them,do not prevent them".Are we tolerant enough to accept other christian denominations who have not the "TRUTH"? It is not easy but the only sense of christianity is love. Lets begin today and lets wait for the coming miracles
38 John said to Him, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” 39 But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him, for there is no one who will perform a miracle in My name, and be able soon afterward to speak evil of Me. 40 For he who is not against us is [a]for us. 41 For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink[b]because of your name as followers of Christ, truly I say to you, he will not lose his reward.

When the Highpriest who was the only one allowed to pronounce the name in the tempel sanctum of jersualem once in a year on the day of atonement since 40 years before exil, if he was worthy and did it , then this act was understood a sign of great mercy of God towards the people, as sign of atonement and forgiveness.
So likewise the thought of the text in John could include that Jesus as highpriest overtook the function as highpriest for his people of israel to pronounce mercy like at day of atonement.
Indeed forgiveness was the main gospel of Jesus.
The "makeing known of your name" thus also means makeing known gods forgiveness and mercy.
Preaching the name thus means preaching forgivness and mercy.
