Something similar happens when a family decides to hide congregation related child abuse to protect the Watchtower reputation
That's exactly right. Very similar human psychology at work there.
saw this dated 2/26/2017, seems to be from 12/2015.. .
even in a religious culture that advocates the murder of victims as honorable, fathers and brothers are typically the perpetrators of horrific violence against female family members whose only crime was to be the victim of another, the killing of a child by its mother stands out as particularly unnatural and depraved.such a heinous act occurred recently in sohag, egypt when a mother of a two-year-old child took the life of her child rather than protect it from violent sexual assault by its own grandfather.. a muslim mother identified only as “merfat” was awakened by screams in the middle of the night and found her father, faraj, in the act of raping her daughter.. .
rather than acting out of a natural, protective instinct, the 23-year-old mother chose to shield her father from scandal as taught by muslim theology and sharia law.. merfat told authorities that she took her daughter, little grace ahmed, from the grandfather, placed her in a tub and held her head under water until the child drown.. alik akhmim, chief detective of the police in sohag told egyptian reporters that “traces of blood” had been found in the little girl’s anus, evidencing the degree of force and injury the child endured at the hands of her mother’s father.. this kind of act is referred to as an “honor killing” thought to place the reputation of the family above that of any individual member, and which is used to punish the victim rather than hold the perpetrator accountable.. murdering rape victims is common in countries and communities that adhere to sharia law where the crime is rarely reported for fear of exposing the family to shame.. “honor killing” is no longer limited to predominantly muslim countries or the middle east.

Terribly sad story Hecce.
Reminds me of reports I read this past weekend of topless fem protesting trump's "muslim ban" over in Europe. I couldn't help but giggle at the irony of such an event.
hebrew 1 8-12 .
but about the son, he says: “god is your throne+ forever and ever, and the scepter of your kingdom is the scepter of uprightness.
you loved righteousness, and you hated lawlessness.
Come on Steel, don't get yourself all worked up.
I don't think it's that we are "as lazy about the bible as when" we were in. Truth is, I did deep digging into bible teachings once I left JW world. From there I realized that there were valid arguments on both sides of the "Is Jesus God" isle. Depending on what texts one uses, they can prove that Jesus is Jehovah, or not.
The same can be said about heaven vs earth, holy spirit an individual or not, hellfire or not, resurrection spiritual or carnal..and various others doctrines. The bible is just not clear about those subjects and either side could be proved depending on what verses one chooses to use.
Realizing this lead me to question if anyone can really ever know exactly what the bible really teaches about any of these subjects.
Regardless of my beliefs, WT is wrong, I'm sure we can agree on that.
don't believe me?see for yourselves!.
It would be nice to get pre-1950 Awakes and Watchtowers in Spanish, but I can't find them anywhere online, not even for sale

Nice catch Steel. One of the things that most made me doubt the divinity of the bible was the fact that it could be interpreted 100 different ways depending on what text/reference one chooses to use.
Whether Jesus is Yahweh or not, or whether the hope is for heaven or earth, or any other critical doctrine, there's just no clarity in the bible. What kind of God would author such a book?

ILoveTTATT2 how are you going about getting the older publications in Spanish? Are you having to translate most of them?... or are you having success finding actual original Spanish pubs?
controversy has arisen regarding jesus versus paul as scholars debate the different emphases and messages of jesus and paul.1 jesus preached the kingdom of heaven.
paul did not.
paul preached justification by faith alone.
if you have a friend who only speaks spanish, or they speak english but spanish is their preferred language, i am pleased to tell you that there is a spanish translation of jwfacts in progress.
so far, these are the completely translated articles:asociación de la watchtower con las naciones unidas - un ngo associationcelebración de los cumpleaños - birthdayslas transfusiones de sangre - bloodpredicción fallida de 1975 - 1975¿por qué está mal el ser un testigo de jehová?

Awesome work guys!. It can be a challenge to find the older publication quotes in Spanish, so this site has already been quite helpful in my case in dealing with some of my spanish speaking friends. Thanks to all that worked on this!
this is the scenario there's a guy who is df and being shunned big time.
we'll he needs a place to stay since he can't stay with his family you know the shunning thing well another jw in good standing says he can stay with him .the df guy is delighted but a little problem the elders are going to find out the df guy car parked at jw house.
no one in the area knows he's df because it's 90 miles from the cong he was df in so i told him he's takeing a risk but he says i'm going to show love to this person no matter what..
You have an amazing heart poopie
wondering if simon or anyone else have statistics for this site?i.e.
how many users are there?
how many posts have ever been made?perhaps a graph showing how many users there were at a given time?
What about just a straight up membership count Simon. Would that number be something you have quick access to and/or are willing to share?
I know the vast majority of those would be inactive, but it'd be nice to know just how many have signed up here throughout the years.
