I just want to say welcome, and please research the religion very carefully before making the huge commitment of baptism. And again, welcome! You seem so friendly and sweet. -

Our oceans are way, way overfished. As you said, farm raised isn't the way to go either.
i think just cutting back is the best option. Meat only on weekends?

Where you are in your life now.....What would you have preferred .... To be left in ignorance ? ...Or to know the truth about the truth
by smiddy ini think possibly their are a few valid reasons for either options to this question ,depending on a number of factors .. such as how old you might be, how long you have devoted your life to the "truth" as you believed it .
?....how it may affect your mental/physical health and well being.?.
how it will affect your financial position in your life ,?

I get to do volunteer work that actually has meaning for me now. Through my church, I deliver Christmas gifts to underprivileged children, and also children whose dads are in prison, with a note from their dad. This means a lot to me. I visit elderly people who are stuck in their beds, deliver them flowers and make them still feel part of their community. I no longer have to be a watchtower drone, doing whatever they ask of me according to their own interests.
The benefits are countless, really. I was in for almost 4 decades. Time to start living my own life and doing what I believe in. Time to be an active member of my community. Time to stop thinking of everyone else as being 'worldly.' Ive mostly lost my birth family, and I love them and miss them, but thank God my husband and all of my children are not lost to me. We can be together, always, and there's nothing a bunch of men in a little room can do about it.
As Caleb said in another thread, leaving was the smartest thing I've ever done. There is no question.

More of What the Watchtower Didn't Teach You
by CalebInFloroda inwhat kind of bible education did the governing body really give us?
how much important information about it did the watchtower really teach us?
how much are we missing out on if we are one of jehovahs witnesses?.

Lurker trying to gain clarity
by questioningmyfaith inhello all, i would like to first say that i am basically questioning my faith in god.
i am not negative towards the wt at all.
so honestly i am to concerned with more ad hominem attacks towards the wt because i still love the organization and the people in it.

Qmf is not ready. I feel like he will be with some more time, but now he's feeling a very strong sense of loyalty to the org, despite his personal doubts in the existence of God. We sometimes forget how VERY strong is the orgs hold on people, and what a huge perceived betrayal of the org it is to say anything negative at all against them. I think he isn't commenting again possibly because he's feeling disloyal and guilt. Qmf, give yourself time. -

Today I learned - I'm incapable of having a relationship
by Garrett inhello my dear friends,.
while this post may not be entirely witness related, i figured i'd write out my thoughts here as a form of release and reflection.. recently, a lot has changed in my life.
i'm away from home for the first time in a long while training to get certified in a field i'm not even sure i want to work in anymore.

Garrett maybe you need to love yourself before you really can love someone else. -

Your family sounds very hospitable and very good natured. But do not let anyone of your family be sucked into this mess of a religion. Encourage them to take a firm stand that they don't agree with it. There are other places to go that will not take control of and ruin your lives. Be kind to the witnesses, they are good people usually. Let them down easily. But firmly!!
p.s. Congrats on being the courageous one!!

At my last meeting, (and I had been fading for a long time previous) we were studying the watchtower and I raised my hand to read one of my favorite scriptures. Romans 8:38 Neither death, nor life, nor Angels nor principalities nor powers nor things present nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.' (Sorry, I only have my new King James version nearby.)
i read it really passionately, and then was really irritated when someone made the follow up comment 'this scripture brings out' (it's always 'brings out') 'that nothing can separate us from Jehovah!'
brainwashed numbskulls.
