thichi,
If you do the Math, we are spending more on Iraq?s freedom (and infastructure) than we could ever make up in oil.
you still assume that the US gov. is working for you! sadly they are working for themselfs and their industrial supporters.
any thoughts on mr. taylor?s claims?.
u.s. demands greater oil output, lower prices.
"finance ministers from the united states and other major industrialized countries, hoping to affect the outcome of a battle within the organization for the petroleum exporting countries, formally demanded yesterday that oil-exporting nations raise production and lower prices to a level 'that is consistent with lasting economic prosperity,'" the new york times reports.

the islamic religious extremists are destroying their people.
just as the christian right in the u.s. is more interested in it's own needs and wants than that of the country itself.
so too the islamic extremists want what they want regardless of the consequences to their country or their people.. ironically, osama the ultimate islamic extremist decided to attack the u.s. at just the moment when a christian right extremist was in power.. if christ's man gets elected maybe christ will decide to strike another country in the middle east and if osama survives maybe allah will decide to attack the u.s. again.
greenpalmy,
i find it very hard to believe that the bush admin is acting because of religion. through the centuries the leaders always have used a) RELIGION and b) NATIONALISM to get the pawns to attack each other. the guys pulling the strings on the bush puppet are not more religious than the people who pulled the strings on clinton.
thichi,
you get something wrong here....it was NOT the christian religion but rather the ELIMINATION of the church that allowed europe to prosper.
richie,
compared to what bush is pulling this is at best peanuts!
farenheit 9/11 ... sorry neo cons .
any film that gets a 15 min standing ovation must be worth watching.
i wonder if bush will go see it?!
avishai,
Yes, but since we do have firearms, That argument, though it sounds nice and is used A LOT is childish, unrealistic and silly
so instead of doing something against it just let it continue the way it is? what kind of argument is this?
the logical thing to do would be to forbid all weapons...most people would hand them in and after a while (and if it is 20 years) firearms would be removed from the population.
better sart now than wait another minute.
funky,
of course it would have been better to report it accurately! exaggerations are unfortunately always used by all sides to make a point.
i'm sorry, but i've just watched one of the austin powers movies for the first time after hearing many people rave about them and imo it's almost as bad as "armageddon" that is on the other side.. i thought it was supposed to be a comedy?!
it is kind-a like the poorest "carry-on" movie ever .
the only saving grace that has stopped me switching over is heather graham ... who is hot !!
Way better than LordoftheRings, as trilogies go.
thank you!!!!!!
this 'lord of the rings' trilogy stinks big time! BORING is the understatement of the year!

avishai,
thanks for the link about the bowling! i haven't seen the movie just excerpts from it that ran as ads. the heston speech in colorado was one of the scenes.
of all the critisism the one that i think is indeed critical is the one about trying to make heston look like a racist. that is bad and certainly highly damaging to moore's credability.
whether heston gave the 'cold dead hands' speech one day or one year after colombine is however irrelevant imo. heston and the others uttered empty phrases after colombine but don't consider for a moment to give up their weapons to protect others. even if exaggerated moore seems to depict hestons true intentions pretty accurately.
about switzerland having a high number of firearms but a low number of homicides with guns involved...well of course if you have a country with an overall much lower crime rate you will get a lower homicide rate involving guns as well. this does not at all damage the argument that if no one would have a fire arm no one could get killed with one.
i don't want one more u.s. soldier to die for the iraqi people.
it's now obvious to me that the international community was right.
the people of iraq do not deserve to live in a free society.
blacksheep,
I lived out of the country and came back because I took our freedoms for granted; in particular my freedom and opportunity as a woman for granted.
where the hell did you live???

the first one was funny! the scene where he tries to turn the cart around in the corridor was hilarious.
utterly disgusting.
those responsible should be lined against a wall and shot.
publicly.. i think that would win more hearts and minds than bombing cities and using gunships on civilian areas.. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4855930/.
crinkle,
actually my first response when i read your statement was: by removing saddam the US made this her buisness.
however on second thought i think you are right. i talked with arabs (from libanon and egypt) and they say the arabs just don't want the US there. if this is indeed the case then get the hell out of there and let them kill each other.
on third thought...this is most likely ot gonna happen because then bushy and his gang might loose control over the oil fields. so i guess you guys will have to deal with this shit for the next couple of years.
cannes, france (reuters) - u.s. director michael moore's ``fahrenheit 9/11'' won the top award at the cannes film festival saturday.. thanking the jury headed by cult director quentin tarantino, moore said: ``you will ensure that the american people will see this movie.
'' moore's win capped a politically charged festival, with documentaries and films reflecting troubled times and french show-business workers staging demonstrations and sit-ins to protest against cuts in their welfare benefits..
nice!
little witch,
no problem if you want to convert this into a JW discussion!!! there is another thread about Moore's movie running anyway!
corvin,
i agree 100% with your statements about moore, oreilly and the bush clan (with or without contradictions!)
