  Tina,
  These are the books that have had the greatest impact on me so far.

  First I read the Bible from cover to cover instead of the JW way.
  Then I moved on to,
  Crisis of Conscience by Ray Franz
  In Search of Christian Freedom by Ray Franz
  Steven Hassen’s “Combating Cult Mind Control”
  Age Of Reason by Thomas Paine
  A History of God by Karen Armstrong
  Releasing The Bonds by Steven Hassen

  Everyone,
  Now that Wt is under review by the UN, I’m wondering just exactly what callers will be told now when they call.
  Will they say, yes they are a NGO but no farther info can be given at this time?
  I’m hoping they will at least confirm their status at this time because of all the witnesses that may be calling in.
  If anyone hears what a random caller is being told please share.
  I see what Hawk was told today but they know him now.
  I want to know what all the people we’ve referred to them will be told now.

  Troubled,
  Someone may have already pointed this out to you but what if you were to find out that the requirements for joining as a NGO were different back in 1991? Would that fact make you feel that it is okay that the WT is associated in any way with the UN in view of what they have always taught us about the UN?
  Just think, they have cow if they find out a witness is associating with worldly people, even if they are family it’s looked down on!!

  The bottom line is this; there is NO justification for what they have done!

  I also wanted to tell you that I understand you wanting answers from the elders and WT on this matter however I must warn you that you will be disappointed in their response.
  I’ve seen this happen over and over with other issues.
  I’m not telling you not to try but you need to get info from all sides not just WT.
  I’m sure you’ll do that though or you wouldn’t be here in the first place.

  I GOT TWO NEW RETURN VISITS TODAY!!

  i do have two new return visits but they are not from field service.. my womens club went to a local nursing home today.

  we brought the elderly gifts, we sang songs with them, and we brought our pets, and listened to them.

  they were so happy to see us and share some of their lifes experiences with us.. it was different to go to a nursing home with no ulterior motives like pushing jw literature.. it felt right to just give them what they wanted most.

  I started this thread because I wanted to share my nice experience with yall, but I did it also for another reason.
  I was taught all my life that JWs were the only people on this earth that have true love among themselves and for others.
  Since I’ve been out, I'm repeatedly hit in the face with just how untrue that teaching was and really how shallow WT love is. This world is nothing like I was taught.
  With the recent WTC tragedy we all have seen the worst and the best of what the world of man has to offer.
  I am sad that this has happened and we have more to face yet but after what I’ve seen and experienced, I have to say I’m proud to be a part of this world. I believe Goodness will always out way evil.

  we brought the elderly gifts, we sang songs with them, and we brought our pets, and listened to them.

  they were so happy to see us and share some of their lifes experiences with us.. it was different to go to a nursing home with no ulterior motives like pushing jw literature.. it felt right to just give them what they wanted most.

  Yes,it went out monday.She lives in the next state over from me and it usually takes four days to get there.
  I think they still use the Pony Express down here!
  I also sent a version of it out to just about every witness I know. I know the ones in town have there's already.I'm waiting for somthing to happen.

  It felt right to just give them what they wanted most. Our company and time. I made arrangements to come back and see two of the women that I spent the most time with.
  It was nice to do a good deed with no strings attached and completely free of religion.
  I hope people do things like this for us when we get old.
  Try something like this some day. It will make you and them very happy!You can have return visits too.

  i can't belive it's been a whole year!!!!.

  last year on oct 3rd, i was at home with my parents eating dinner.

  we of course were not at the meeting .

  I was thinking of doing the same thing on the date I stopped going to meetings unless they DF me for expossing the ORG over this UN issue to all my witness friends and Family.If that happens I
  ll have a new anniversary date!

  Counting Time... Is It Part Of The Rot?

  how many here have pioneered?.

  be honest, what was predominantly on your mind, telling people this wonderfull good news or was it counting time?.

  an elder once said to me, "you know, it's strange how when pioneers quit pioneering, they're hours don't stay the same, they don't gradually diminish and they don't even drop by half... they drop practically to nothing.".

  Ballistic,
  I regular Aux. pioneered before I married then auxiliary pioneered once a year after that. I also regular pioneered for a year and a half when my daughter was between 3 & 5 yrs old.
  I always had a problem with the time counting thing though! Counting time was not scriptural and WT used to put down other religions for having classes and titles. I used to wonder why we had names like pioneer, elder and ministerial servant.
  I never really bought into the titles or time thing like others did because I didn’t believe in it. I had a rule that I would never discuss my time with anyone. When others in the cong. would ask me how my time was coming along I would tell them it was fine and that I didn’t dwell on my time because if I did I would be robbed of my joy.
  I believed that you should just do your best, the rest was man made and didn’t matter to Jah anyway.
  Some of the most disgusting people I knew had titles or pioneered. As a result, I was never impressed with any of it.

  A question for the ladies

  ok bobsgirl got a bunch of advice, now i'd like to hear from the women.

  our anniversary (27 years)is this weekend.

  i've rented a place that has beach access and a hottub (on whidbey island for those in the seattle area).

  Guys,
  I also want to add this.
  I gave an example of my favorite anniversary. It was also one of the more expensive.
  Yes, we love jewelry, nice restaurants, etc…
  But the most important thing I think is that you show how special she is to you.
  This can be done if your dirt poor or filthy rich!
  I remember times that we were too poor to buy one another presents but it was still special.
  I have a collection of poems my hubby has written to me over the years. They mean more to me than any piece of jewelry.
  Sometimes a card and flowers has been sufficient in financially trying times.
