Hello everyone,
I do have two new return visits but they are not from field service.
My women’s club went to a local nursing home today. We brought the elderly gifts, we sang songs with them, and we brought our pets, and listened to them. They were so happy to see us and share some of their life’s experiences with us.
It was different to go to a nursing home with no ulterior motives like pushing JW literature.
It felt right to just give them what they wanted most. Our company and time. I made arrangements to come back and see two of the women that I spent the most time with.
It was nice to do a good deed with no strings attached and completely free of religion.
I hope people do things like this for us when we get old.
Try something like this some day. It will make you and them very happy! You can have return visits too.

Counting Time... Is It Part Of The Rot?
by ballistic inhow many here have pioneered?.
be honest, what was predominantly on your mind, telling people this wonderfull good news or was it counting time?.
an elder once said to me, "you know, it's strange how when pioneers quit pioneering, they're hours don't stay the same, they don't gradually diminish and they don't even drop by half... they drop practically to nothing.".

Ballistic,
I regular Aux. pioneered before I married then auxiliary pioneered once a year after that. I also regular pioneered for a year and a half when my daughter was between 3 & 5 yrs old.
I always had a problem with the time counting thing though! Counting time was not scriptural and WT used to put down other religions for having classes and titles. I used to wonder why we had names like pioneer, elder and ministerial servant.
I never really bought into the titles or time thing like others did because I didn’t believe in it. I had a rule that I would never discuss my time with anyone. When others in the cong. would ask me how my time was coming along I would tell them it was fine and that I didn’t dwell on my time because if I did I would be robbed of my joy.
I believed that you should just do your best, the rest was man made and didn’t matter to Jah anyway.
Some of the most disgusting people I knew had titles or pioneered. As a result, I was never impressed with any of it.

Guys,
I also want to add this.
I gave an example of my favorite anniversary. It was also one of the more expensive.
Yes, we love jewelry, nice restaurants, etc…
But the most important thing I think is that you show how special she is to you.
This can be done if your dirt poor or filthy rich!
I remember times that we were too poor to buy one another presents but it was still special.
I have a collection of poems my hubby has written to me over the years. They mean more to me than any piece of jewelry.
Sometimes a card and flowers has been sufficient in financially trying times.Ranchette

The room with hot tub is a great start! I was thinking along the same lines as Blondie.
Nice dinner out or candle lit dinner in room. Music, dim lighting, flowers, a sweet card,
A small gift is great especially if it’s a piece of jewelry. Top this off with your undivided attention. No power tools!!! None of those practical stuff men like so much.
A personal gift is best for an anniversary.

"GET THE WBTS OUT OF THE UN" Pickets
by MadApostate insince it has been several years since i attended an assembly/convention, i don't know if some of you folks are still picketing such, .
the upcoming special assembly this sunday would seem to be a great opportunity to spread this un issue to the jw r&f.. can't you just hear the "buzz" in the hallways:.
"why are the apostates holding signs saying, 'get the wbts out of the un'"?.

Rem,
I'm pissed that you expect us to behave the way you want us to then have nothing relevent to add to this thread yourself! Now back to the subject,
I think this picketing idea is very interesting and would love to participate and hear experiences of anyone who has an opportunity to do this.

JW Response to NGO/UN info
by Andrew Farrell infollowing is the response of a jw to the information regarding the un/ngo status of the watchtower society.
it seems not all will see with clarity the hypocritical position of the organisation in this matter:.

Everyone,
Please don’t let negitive JW responses to this UN info discourage you from getting the truth out. Most will make excuses or dismiss it as a lie.
That’s okay though. The information is stored in their minds for future reference.
I know this from personal experience. I used to make excuses for WT all the time.
I think everyone has a breaking point or last straw. These things just keep piling up and will prove useful when that time comes.
All that info I stored up over the years came back to me when I reached my last straw.
Those things help a person to feel more resolved about their decision to get out of the org.
I’m expecting some responses to the letters I sent out yesterday. Sadly I feel like I just burnt a bunch of bridges. Most of them will cut me off. It's a risk I was willing to take because I want to help as many as I can.
