Hi I am Caspians sister and this is my first day here.
by Lainey inhello this is my first post and i wanted to introduce myself so here goes.. my name is lainey, and i have not been to the meetings for about 4 years now.. i am 28 and work as a doctor in a big city university hospital as a sho.. also for my sins, i am cassies little sis, and i am staying with him for a little while, as i am signed off sick for the next month with a stress related disorder.. after the death of my older bro and my dad within the past few months, i started suffering from terrible nightmares, most of them connected in some way to my witness upbringing.. me and cassie have talked for some length and he suggested that i spend some time having a look on this site and meeting others who have had similar issues to face in life.. i hope you are all are better listeners than cassie, who tends to fall asleep when i am in the middle of talking to him.
(brothers!!!
) btw he hates being called cassie lol.. anyway i am not a big talker, so i probably wont post a lot, however i am going to scout around for a while.. thanks .

"We Miss You! (but only at the meetings)"
by Funchback init has been a good (7) weeks since i've last attended a kh meeting.
this weekend, however, the calls of "encouragement" came rolling in.
on saturday, a brother (actually a very decent, likable, and genuine man) left me a message and said that he misses me at the meetings.

I was just thinking that meetings are a social life for witnesses. When you think about all the time spent at meetings and field service each week, who has time to call or visit one another? My sister and her family ( husbands an elder ) got moved to another congregation because they needed more elders. When my mother found out, she burst into tears. My sister looked at her and said " Mom, I only live a mile away ". But to my mother, she may as well have lived 1000 miles away, because the meetings are where she saw her. First my mom has me leave the troof, then has the one daughter left move to a new hall. Poor thing!! God forbid she has to make an effort to see her children!

My mother and her reaction to me being "gay"
by logansrun inno, i'm not gay.
still, this story is interesting.
recently i began dating a very fine young lady -- my first "girlfriend" ever, really.

wow...that's terrible. This is the reason a lot of gay people stay in the closet so long. One would hope that a parents love would be unconditional, but it isn't always the case. How sad. I guess you should consider yourself lucky that you're not gay, otherwise you'd be out on your behind.

What JW Teaching Did You Never Quite Totally Accept???
by minimus insince i was raised a witness, it was only as i got older that i started to "think" about what i was teaching and believing.
but even as a young teen, i never accepted the thought that 1975 was going to be the end of the "system of things" and the beginning of the "new system".
i just didn't quite believe that.........what belief or teaching did you have a "hard time swallowing"?

Everything wolfgirl said.
Also, like Perry, I wondered about the ressurected ones not being able to marry/remarry. Then why go preach to the old lady down the street that she could see her dead husband in the ressurection. What would the point be?

I'm wondering what happened to her car when they took her to the hospital....did she really have a flat tire? she would have still had a flat when they came to get her, because she said she was attacked before she had a chance to change it. Would a person be so calculating as to making their tire flat, then cut themselves up just to have a cover story? It's certainly possible.Seeing her fathers reaction to the whole thing, I can see how a jw daughter wouldn't want to incur the wrath of him or the local elders.Making up a story about a rape might seem better in her mind than dealing with the fact that she had consesual premarital sex. Still, it might be true, and if so, how sad that she has to go through all this. I would like to have all the facts of the case before coming to a conclusion. I guess we'll have to wait and see what a jury decides.
