This brings back some memories for me. My brother ( an elder ) called me up one day ( I had been inactive for quite some time ), and I was surprised to hear from him. Silly me, I thought he was calling to see how I really was ( which I should have known better, because he never cared when I went to meetings ). After chatting for all of two minutes, the real reason for his call became aparant. He and the elders were wondering if I would like to get together for a chat, to see if they could encourage me. You know, just my brother and another elder. I said no thanks. At that point he had no clue what to say, so he ended the conversation. Now if that isn't love, I don't know what is. Ah, dub love, ain't it grand?

"We Miss You! (but only at the meetings)"
by Funchback init has been a good (7) weeks since i've last attended a kh meeting.
this weekend, however, the calls of "encouragement" came rolling in.
on saturday, a brother (actually a very decent, likable, and genuine man) left me a message and said that he misses me at the meetings.

addiction to this board
by stillajwexelder in.
hey guys, hamas has admitted to me he could not keep away from this board -- this is actually a serious question -- i have found i have become addicted and just can not stay away or stop posting -- every morning and evening -- sometimes at lunchtime -- and certainly most weekends i come on this board -- am i normal?
is it just me and hamas or are there others out there addicted to simon's damn board?

if I didn't have a job to go to and a family to take care of, I fear I would need a 12 step program!

I wonder how the elders can live with themselves having caused so much anguish in peoples lives. Anyone here that used to be an elder feel bad about being judge and jury when disfellowshipping people? Do the elders really feel they have god's holy spirit guiding them? Just curious. ( btw, this question isn't meant to make any x elders feel bad, after all, they were under the influence of a mind altering cult )

kill the victims
by peacefulpete ina small question that haunted me as a jw was why did jehovah kill all the humans in the flood who had become depraved and violent but let the demons who ostensibly brought perversion and violence to the world go free to do it again after the flood?
is this some kind of discrimination?
(it's a story)

hmmmm...good question pete, maybe God isn't powerful enough to kill spirit creatures. Is there any instance in the bible where he has done such a thing? He must like to keep them around so they can choose to either help humankind or torment them.

Giving Credit Where Credit Isn't Due
by Nosferatu inmy mother helps out one of the elderly sisters in the kingdom hall, and has for the past 10 years or so, basically to show "christian love".
well, yesterday this elderly lady showed my mother proof that she sent the society $100.
this really ticked me off.

if your mom does this because she is a caring person showing christian love, then she probably wouldn'taccept money if it was offered anyway. But the gesture would certainly go a long way in showing she was appreciated.

when i had a phone call that my uncle died just before i got on stage, i sat for a moment and i was looking my guitar.
