If there was any fairness these hardworking Publishers should have some dividend from the Jw fortune. It is "family" after all.

Recommended Reading for ExJWs: Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand
by Jehalapeno infirst off, this is a book you want to read.
avoid the movie franchise at all costs.
horrible movies.. here's why i recommend this book: its prime focus is using rational reasoning to form your life philosophy - whether that be relationships, career or faith.. it also gives insight into the mind of someone who survived the geopolitical equivalent of the jws - the communist regime of stalin.. the antagonists of the book are referred to as "collectivists".

What triggered your awaking?

Caves,
Funny with those perspectives and expectations of God. In the Christadelphian understanding (I was for a short while a baptised Christadelphian), the great harvest / multitude takes place in the millennium and few people are saved prior to that. The vast majority that ever lived are never raised. "God does not bless his creation equally". An elder told me Hitler was appeared on the world scene to make possible the creation of israel that they think is of God. The JW is essentially a humanist. His org may behave harsh and controlling but he has a bleeding heart for humanity, hence all the "isn't the world a bad place" preaching.

I would say when I started getting faith and reading the Bible years after stopping to go to the Kingdom hall, it was obvious to me that Russell and JWs were not what I had been told they were and that they added a lot to the Word just like the Catholics

My email to JW Following Trolley Conversation
by cofty ina few weeks ago i had an really interesting conversation with three male jws who were loitering around a trolley at the west end of princes street in edinburgh.. i managed to completely avoid giving any hint about my jw past and focussed on why they thought the bible was a reliable moral guide.
i used the subject of slavery to illustrate my concerns.. one of the three was in his early twenties, knew a lot about his own beliefs but nothing about the real life and it was difficult to get through his thought-bubble.
the second one was in his 60s and not very bright.

Finkelstein,
Slavery build great empires and civilisations, the West included. The Greeks were pretty progressive despite slavery. A greater focus on the virtues of universal human dignity came slowly with the reformation when man was ready for that ☺️. Human development is a slow proces. Whether or not it has reached equilibrium is a faith issue. I dont look at history with ideological but pragmatic glasses ☺️.

I am pretty sure the early church had not survived the Romans if they had attacked their lifeblood of the slavery institution ☺️. I do not have the faith in human nature that atheists have and wonder where human civilisation had been without slavery as the backbone. Sad but true.

Of course if doomsday comes, you preppers will have to defend your baked beans with heavy machine guns. The average Joe can not afford luxury commodities such as law and order in that situation.

Circuit Overseer to Answer My Questions + Concerns...or Not
by Research inhello all, i'm 'researching', a jw who is in the first steps of taking a look at their beliefs.. i've semi-recently (about a couple weeks ago) heard about the sexual abuse cases (pennsylvania attorney general’s investigation request) and then the arc in 2015. this lead to a deep investigation, which lead to many questions arising.
a jw friend of mine suggested i be careful (due to apostates) and ask the brothers.
so i typed up my questions + concerns and emailed an elder my mother has known for a long time.

I guess critical JWs are divided between the ones that keep low profile about their apostacy and those who naively think there must be room for their rightious critique in 'the truth'

Expect 90% of pimi's to go down with the ship here's why
by nowwhat? ini have been feeding my very pimi brother tidbits and clippings of all the csa issues coming to light the last five years and all the org's business dealings of hundreds of closed halls congs dissolving etc.
and reminding him of all the failed prophecies etc etc.
although he would listen and acknowledge.

Yeah the majority of conservative Christians believe in a Armageddon and a paradise earth, with the exception that the billions slain are after this send to eternal torment. I guess when Armageddon seems so bad to JWs it is because they have not been taught that they as sinners without personal faith in Jesus are abominable before God, they have failed and crucified the Holy God and there is No way their eternal souls can live in the presence of the Holy God. There is however a growing group of mortal soulists among conservative evangelicals.
