It's fascinating that the GB bans birthday celebrations because it's pagan, yet birthdays are not mentioned in the 613 commands of the mosaic law. However they argue this point because in their view 'its Pagan' and hey God's people MUST be accurate even in small things.

Yet, when it comes to the most important name in the universe...They use an inaccurate name ...Why? Because it's popular. If they are so obssessive about being accurate, why do they not use the more accurate name YAHWEH, which even they the GB have admitted to in their own literature. Incredible!

Is supported by all true Christians 'IF' we (only JWs) follow the direction of the headquarters (ie the GB of JWs).

Aren't you a bit amazed that the WTS/JWS is still around ?

i know i am, to me its a bit of a peculiar anomaly that the wts is still around and functioning in reflection of its decades and now complete century that the wts has been bullshitting to people .

organizations like the church of god have shrunk dramatically from its heyday of the 1980's, this too was another organization that spread and grew by publishing its own magazine proclaiming a armageddon soon doctrine and its main publication was called " the truth " .

i'm guessing some of this has to do with the fact that people who get lured into this cult aren't aware of its past, its doctrines, the people who started it and so forth.

At this weeks clam meeting. Much praise was given to the brother in explaining when the captivity from Babylon the great ended. To be honest, the brother was very clear and admire the way he explained the world headquarters of Jehovah's Witnesses understanding of this topic.

On the other hand, with all due respect to the brother (as not his fault), the understanding came across as farcicle nonsense!!!

It's this kind of bats@#t crazy teaching that causes my jaw to drop. I can be damn sure others must be feeling the same way within our hall. Why do the GB persist in coming out with this stuff. It's like they just say ...hey let's get it out there...What the hell????

When reading this portion of scripture tonight, it's interesting about husband's and wives, notice the emphasis on who is HEAD of the Christian Congregation. Who is it that Christians male and female are to look to for guidance. Who are Christians subject to? Who feeds the Congregation? Let the scriptures answer that question!

Eph 5:23 Because the husband is head of the wife, as also the Messiah is head of the assembly, and He is Saviour of the body.

24But as the assembly is subject to Messiah, so also let the wives be to their own husbands in every respect.

25Husbands, love your wives, as Messiah also did love the assembly and gave Himself for it,

26in order to set it apart and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word,See Rev. 19:8, 9

I think what is surprising to me is that despite all the controversies that are out there, which are only a few finger taps away on our smart phones nowadays;, why there isn't more of a an outcry?

Born in baptisms to avoid embarrassment

i noticed a recent commenter mention an assembly that had only one baptism, a born in.

the last assembly i went to had three baptisms, of which two were born ins.

could part of the motivation for youth baptism be to avoid the embarrassment of an assembly with no baptisms at all?

I was at an assembly once where there were no baptism candidates. The baptism talk was still given regardless. I think I recall that it was given for encouragement to those thinking of baptism.

At another assembly 2 children got baptized. I recall a woman in the row in front of me turning to another sister looking a a little shocked and saying 'their children'!'!

She expressed what probably many were thinking.

GB asks every JW to give Putin their home address

jw's around the globe have been encouraged to write letters to putin and the russian government.

they are expected to give their personal details on the envelope.

i appreciate that this might be normal when writing to your own government if they are tolerant, but is this not a bit strange that the gb want to give putin the address of every jw in the world?

OMG. What about the thousands of letters sent to the GB from everyone affected by THEIR policies. Do the GB listen to people's heart felt pleas. Clearly No!

As much as I disagree with Putin and I really do. I think his policies are a disgrace when it comes to religious freedom. BUT It's a little like the pot calling the kettle black!

How deep is the rot?

by now it seems obvious that the gb and other leaders of the wtbs are corrupt.

the pedo scandal and various financial schemes are sustained by either lack of concern or greed at the top.

my question is how far down the food chain does this go?

I think it's quite telling how the GB and it's leadership avoid the media so much. It always baffled me why they hardly ever stand up for their beliefs when controversies arise.

I remember when I was newly baptized in the early 90's and watching the news regarding a mother losing her life after giving birth and had refused a blood transfusion. The media were outside Bethel. I remember Bethelites walking past the media and any answers given were either no comment or discomfort on the faces of those walking past. I remember thinking why don't they get a spokesman to open up the Bible and stand up for why we don't take blood.

I recall a similar attitude when panorama suffer the little children was shown.

I personally think a lot of elders are aware of the rot, but bury their heads in the sand. Think to if all those who have raised their views at judicials. They will know to some degree what's going on. I am convinced my CO is aware of things, but hey company men are company men. Many such ones will tow the line come what may.
