If You Could Ask the GB Or One Of Its Members...
by Cold Steel in...one question about anything and get a straight answer, what would it be?
historical, philosophical, theological, eschatological, anything.

Were you aware of the shunning policy when becoming a JW
by UnshackleTheChains infor those who became jws, were you fully aware of the societys cruel shunning policy whilst studying?
i absolutely had no idea such a policy existed until years later.
it really only hit home when reading the horrendous stories on the internet around 2002. .

Great point Schnell
'And then you realize you're stuck.....'
Yes....when you realise you are STUCK!!. That's is the dilemma for hundreds of thousands of JWs active, inactive or faded.
'Stuck' in a high control religion that uses emotional blackmail to keep you in. Disgusting!

I attended an event in which a third were family, a third friends of the family and a third were witnesses. Who do you think stood out as most reserved!
To be fair 5 or 6 Witnesses made an effort 'to mix', but most generally stayed in their seats 'all night' without making an effort to talk to others In a part of the world where I am from where the culture is to talk to anyone and everyone, the witnesses looked out of place in their reserved (afraid to mix with worldly people) way.

Has the rebranding worked?
by MrTheocratic init's been several years since the start of the rebranding of jehovahs witnesses.
i believe it started with the website change.
ever since then the religion has moved in a more modern direction.

Whenever I see that blue JW.ORG sign outside the kingdom Hall, business like premises comes to mind. Strangers would have absolutely no idea it was a Christian place of worship.
There is a similar style building up the road (a Christian church) and have signs that clearly reflect a Christian place of worship.

The shunning policy is by far the main reason I am fading. The thought of preaching to others to recruit into this organisation, only for them to potentially one day face shunning in the future and which ultimately could tear their family and lives apart repulses me.

Just browsed through this link regarding the never ending questions asked prior to qualifying for baptism and can't see any reference to disfellowshipping, disassociation or shunning.

It's interesting that many of us for the most part were unaware of the policy of shunning or at least the significance of what would happen if you chose to leave officially. I don't recall it being discussed in the live forever book. I also don't recall being asked about the shunning policy during my '30'' or so questions for baptism.

Also, for the born in's, were you fully aware of the shunning policy and it's potential repercussions when you got baptised whilst young?
I would be grateful to get your thoughts on this.
