It's interesting that many of us for the most part were unaware of the policy of shunning or at least the significance of what would happen if you chose to leave officially. I don't recall it being discussed in the live forever book. I also don't recall being asked about the shunning policy during my '30'' or so questions for baptism.

Were you aware of the shunning policy when becoming a JW
by UnshackleTheChains infor those who became jws, were you fully aware of the societys cruel shunning policy whilst studying?
i absolutely had no idea such a policy existed until years later.
it really only hit home when reading the horrendous stories on the internet around 2002. .

Also, for the born in's, were you fully aware of the shunning policy and it's potential repercussions when you got baptised whilst young?
I would be grateful to get your thoughts on this.

Australian Royal Commission mentions that G. Jackson was inconsistent
by Daniel1555 init's great that the following is officially mentioned in the royal commission's report:.
when asked if the governing body members saw themselves as ‘jehovah god’s spokespeople on earth’, mr geoffrey jackson answered that it ‘would seem to be quite presumptuous to say that we are the only spokesperson that god is using’.
mr jackson’s response seems to be inconsistent with the documentary evidence before the royal commission, which shows that jehovah’s witnesses believe that the governing body is the ‘channel’ by which jehovah’s ‘will’ is communicated to them..

Then there was the question about the woman raped in the field. Jackson said they did not have the answer and would like to ask Jesus in the future.
I think Jesus would say something along the lines of what Captain Mannering would say

So lets get this right. Given that Jackson was under oath to speak the truth , the whole truth and nothing but the truth under God; either he was lying about their own (ie GB) fundamental teaching or he cares little about this teaching!!!

You know it's time to give up the JW religion when your route call tells you to
by jambon1 inlasting memory of the latter period of time in the organisation:.
i had a route call with the magazines whom i'd called on for a number of years.
eventually when i become a parent i became consumed with negativity, doubt (blood issue) & depression.

The following video by critical thinking pretty much sum's up why many JW's end up with depression. In many cases, people simply burn out. The lady you mentioned Jambon, hits the nail on the head imo

How to route out an apostate... according too this site.
by Thisismein1972 inhttps://jwadvisor.blogspot.co.uk/2016/07/leakinginfo.html.
jehovah's witness advisor.
leakinginfo: what can be done to find out who is leaking documents?.

This 'apostate' forum would quickly fade away if the Watchtower organisation normalised itself as a Christian faith group. This would involve major reform to many of its controversial teachings, practices and rules.

Sadly, the rank and file believe this is policy. Let's be clear, Watchtower can only 'encourage' members to shun their relatives. Yet unknown to most, their own policy states that members who insist on associating with their df'd relatives 'will not face a judicial'. Yes privileges will be taken away, but that's about it.
Clearly this (unknown to most) policy is a get out clause for the organisation in case they are hauled before a court for not allowing family members to associate with each other; which is a fundamental basic human right under the laws of most lands.
