We are celebrating b-day tonight!
by StarTrekAngel innot that we have not done it before, but the event would come about out a mutual understanding.
never a word or any more than just "we are going out to dinner".
the news this time is that my wife, out of her own initiative, suggested this morning that we should go out and celebrate our daughters b-day.

FMF Rant on Abuse and JW Apologists: The Single Root of the Whole Issue(s)
by freemindfade infor the jw apologists, they debate certain factors to down play all the recent sex abuse information in the jehovah's witness organization.
and there is so much focus on "two witness rule" and "parents can report" the "elders aren't legal authorities" and many other smoke screen issues.
a lot of these issues and discussion are down stream from what i believe to be the root of the issue.

I agree that it (sexual abuse) boils down to a criminal act. So if the elders are made aware that someone has committed murder (another criminal act) and they do not report it to the authorites, aren't they then accessories after the fact?
Aren't they basically promoting this criminality by not reporting it?

by Room 215 ini recently heard angelo catanzaro, a rather prominent figure in the organization .. a long-time district overseer and a favorite of knorr's, died recently.
there was some indication that he and his wife figured out ttatt in their latter years and turned "apostate"... .

The 1995 Generation Change
by sloppyjoe2 ini was just a teenager and have a vivid memory of sitting in a chair doing a microphone for the sunday meeting.
everyone was commenting that it didn't mean the end was far off, and it didn't change the condition of the dead, or the 144,000, or the trinity so we should still remain faithful.
this is my first memory as a kid being just a teen that i ever had a single doubt.

@Phizzy As it is, my lifetime's indoctrination killed the questions.
I was thinking the same thing as I read this thread. I can top everyone here so far, I actually conducted that Watchtower study. I remember thinking that faith was more important than the actual timing, mostly because deep down I knew there was never going to be an armageddon. At least not in the sense that the Jdubs believe.
I also realized that very few in attendance that day really grasped what a momentous change in doctrine that was. I'm really surprised more didn't walk away at that time.
What a dolt I was. But at least I made it out. There's still a whole lot of people that were there that Sunday in 1995 that are still lapping up the horsesh&t.

Has any apostate ever lied at a JC about being apostate?
by purrpurr ini watched/ listened to the brave and courageous souls on youtube who bravely recorded their jc's.
you really see a different and horrid side to the elders there.
it might sound whimpy but i don't think i would be able to stand strong like those guys did.

I'm reminded of the line from The Departed. "The FBI (insert elders) are like mushrooms. Feed them shit and keep them in the dark."
Simply put. They don't deserve the truth They actively withhold the truth from those whom they deem undeserving. They should be treated the same.
Remember that you are a far better person than any elder sitting on any body. Best wishes to you

Stats on Gay Marriage & Religious Belief
by snare&racket inso just how non-judgmental, tolerant, respectful, caring, loving, liberal and humane are the religious groups?.
"findings from prris american values atlas, which draws on 40,000 interviews among a random sample of americans, provides the most in-depth portrait to date of attitudes on same-sex marriage by religious affiliation.. the most supportive major religious groups are buddhists (84 percent), jews (77 percent), and americans who select other religion (75 percent); additionally, more than three-quarters (77 percent) of the religiously unaffiliated also support same-sex marriage.. more than six in ten (62 percent) white mainline protestants support same-sex marriage.
among white mainline protestant denominations, support ranges from 69 percent support among white mainline presbyterians and 68 percent among both white episcopalians and white congregationalists/united church of christ members, to lower support among white mainline baptists (53 percent) and white mainline church of christ/disciples (50 percent).. and while the catholic church officially opposes the legalization of same-sex marriage, about six in ten white (61 percent), hispanic (60 percent), and other non-white catholics (60 percent) support allowing gay and lesbian couples to marry legally.

One more reason the JW's should be classified as a hate group.
