Hello-New Again and Pierced!

i've posted in the past under the nic, "doubting sister", but i'm no longer doubtful.

i'm totally convinced, the witnesses are just another religion like any other.

actually, i consider them a cult, but i think many religions have cultish tendencies anyhow, so i'll refrain from calling them that for now.. because of this site i've been able to see things more clearly and i'm feeling better about leaving.

How many hours will it take you to drive in to Toronto? (Where do you live?) Would it be easier if we have the get together on a Saturday afternoon/evening so that you can drive in Saturday morning, then stay overnight in Toronto and return on Sunday?

Let me know.

This is also for you OutnFree...would a weekend be better for you, since you're driving in from Michigan?

GodRules...try reading In Search of Christian Freedom and see if you're not affected by what Ray says in there. You'll realize that he's being truthfull once you start reading it. He has no reason to lie, because the lies would get found out right away. He quotes from the WTS's own publications, as well as the bible, and historical records.

Read it if you dare!

While COC made me think a lot more that I wasn't in the "truth", it was ISOCF that put the final nail on the WTS coffin for me.

I'm very very greatfull to Ray Franz for having the courage (and for actually taking the time) to write both those books.

Silentlambs and Signifiers that Signify Nothing

call me a neopositivist, a semi-verificationist or semi-falsificationist, but the claims made by "silentlambs" reminds me of the shakespearean line that was quoted in the creator book published by the wtbts.

that is, the contentions of silentlambs seem like much "sound and fury" that in truth signify nothing.

i am of course referring to the supposed dateline show and the claims made about some members of the gb of jehovah's witnesses.

Duns, you must agree that "evidence" will be hard to produce when the victims are intimidated into silence, to "keep the organization clean in the mind of the world", don't you think?

When victims are made to feel guilty if they were to go to the police, how much hard evidence will there be? Still, the truth will come out, one way or the other.

While I was a "faithfull" JW, I would have never even imagined that there were ANY pedophiles in the organization (even though I knew of one such case, and kept thinking that it was just one isolated case).

The Dateline program will be interesting to see, for sure.

Yes, according to the simplistic minds of the WTS, everything is simple, black and white, no in betweens.

Seems like you're running when the going gets tough, while still trying to threaten by saying "i'll be back to take care of brother larc and others."

IT'S TIME TO SPANK THE WATCHTOWER!

i see that a number of jw defenders feel that ex-jws are 'picking' on the watch tower society, and still do not get the clue.

these defenders seem to think that we are silent about other religions, and that we are just embellishing this issue because we have an ulterior motive to engage in a hate campaign.. let's look at a little history.

the watch tower religion has through its history, especially from j. f. rutherford's time, engaged in the most horrid bashing of all religions, especially the catholic church and protestant denominations.

The C.O. and elder came to my house last night!

please tell me i made the right decision.

last night the co and another elder showed up at our house just 5 minutes after my husband got home from work (i think they were sitting on the side of the road just waiting for him to come home)*stalkers*, anyway to make along story short, the pressure was on.

i felt like they were there to get us to da ourselves.

When I finally realized that the WTS was not the one true religion, and that I didn't need to follow man made laws anymore (reading both of Ray Franz's books really helped me here), I felt the biggest weight that you can imagine being lifted off my shoulders, and off my chest. I could breathe again!

And like LovesDubs already said, " At least now you can get up on Saturdays and Sundays and enjoy your family, the outdoors, go shopping, have that cup of coffee and read the paper with your cat on your lap with no GUILT about having to meet somebody elses expectations about what you should or shouldnt be doing."

Hey...today is Saturday! Enjoy your coffee! And stay around this web-site...you'll keep receiving support from most of us! :D

August km re media reports

not sure if this has been highlighted on the board, but in the august km there's an interesting paragraph in the front page article "you are a theatrical spectacle":.

sometimes the media publish reports about the activities of jehovah's people.

while we appreciate good reports that are factual and fair in dealing with our work, we also expect bad reports to be spread by our detractors from time to time.

It certainly looks like a pre-emptive strike by the WTS to do damage control...and after the Dateline program airs, the "faithfull" dubs will feel like they are persecuted (and of course, that will make them feel closer to each other), and that the mother organization was right in warning them about it.

Just makes me sick how brainwashed they all are!
